Joel Edgerton

It seems as though nothing can touch Sony Pictures and Annapurna Pictures' faith in Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming untitled Osama Bin Laden movie, and that confidence is being passed on to the talent circling the project. Some big names are moving in to join up with Bigelow in her follow-up to Oscar-winner "The Hurt Locker," and the previously rumored Joel Edgerton and Chris Pratt have finally officially signed on board. Sounds like a vote of confidence to all the skeptics if we've ever heard one.

Variety has the news about Edgerton, who joins previously-announced Jason Clarke in the flick. But Deadline has learned that three other actors are circling the Bin Laden movie as well. Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong and Edgar Ramirez are all "ready to get the mission underway" according to Deadline. The news site also lists Pratt as an official cast member.

You know what movie profession is in need of serious comeback? The spy. Not the "all flash and explosions of James Bond" spy, but the "shadowy guy on the street corner" spy. It's been too long since we've celebrated the clandestine charm of old-fashioned intelligence agents. It's time we bring them back.

Thankfully, we're in luck. "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" is just the movie to do it. The film, which touts an all-British cast of ridiculously high caliber led by Gary Oldman, doesn't hit theaters until December 9, but we have three exclusive clips from the movie.

What lies in the nooks and crannies of Mars' vast mountainous landscape? You'll find out in "John Carter," the first live-action film from Pixar fixture Andrew Stanton.

"Green Lantern" actor Mark Strong stars in the movie as Matai Shang, the leader of a mysterious race called the Therns — "Nobody is sure if they exist or not," the actor teased when we spoke with him at the "Lantern" press junket this week — but according to Strong, fans can expect to see a few adjustments made to the se big-screen aliens than the ones you'd find in the original Edgar Rice Burrows novels.

"In the books, they're all bald, but they wear these strange blonde wigs in the books," he said. "I think the feeling was that recreating that on film was a little bit strange. So it's much more of a traditional alien look: very shaved, pale, has a big robe. Very powerful."

When the world was first introduced to Channing Tatum in 2006 with "She's The Man," I don't think any of us would ever have expected to condone, let alone like, a trailer starring him as Roman centurion from 140 A.D. But the fact that Tatum manages to maintain a convincing Roman accent throughout the entirety of the "The Eagle" trailer definitely earns him points in his favor. And with co-stars Donald Sutherland, Jamie Bell and Mark Strong to support him, our excitement factor for this flick just increased exponentially.

"The Eagle" follows Tatum as Marcus Aquila, who is trying to discover the truth behind his father's legion, the Ninth, that disappeared beyond Hadrian's Wall 20 years earlier. Enlisting the help of the slave Esca (Bell), Marcus travels beyond the wall to try to find the lost Legion and recover their missing eagle standard. Read More...

Summer 2010 hasn't even arrived yet, and we're already getting excited from summer '11. That largely has to do with the planned June release of "Green Lantern," which director Martin Campbell is adapting from the original DC Comics superhero story. Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, the man who becomes the titular world-saver, and Mark Strong plays Sinestro, Jordan's mentor and future Lantern nemesis. The movie may be more than a year away, but that didn't stop Strong from speaking out recently about his role in the film and where its inspiration lies. Several months ago, a rumor surfaced that international superstar Brad Pitt had flown to London to shoot a few scenes as the villainous Moriarty for director Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes." The rumor was squashed, only to reignite in the form of the word that Pitt had discussed playing Moriarty in a possible sequel with the film's producers. This too was put to rest but you know how hope is, always springing eternal.

So when MTV's Josh Horowitz sat down with Ritchie to talk "Holmes," the Pitt talk inevitably came up. And here's what the director had to say...

"I'm looking over there," he said, breaking into a wide grin as he glanced nervously at his publicist. Making a wagging finger motion, Ritchie laughed and exclaimed "I'm not allowed to say anything!" Read More...

Lots going on in this new poster from "Sherlock Holmes," directed by Guy Ritchie. The latest take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic hits theaters on Christmas Day, December 25.

You can see all sorts of crazy action happening in those little boxes on the side. There's Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong, who play Irene Adler and Lord Blackwood, respectively. I also see a dog, a bird, some keys and a gun, and a bottle of what appears to be poison. And of course Holmes (Robert Downey Jr) and Watson (Jude Law) in the middle of it all, cool and collected, as ever. Hit the jump for the full dealie. Read More...

Sherlock HolmesI've been intentionally ignoring "Sherlock Holmes." That's not to say I won't be seeing it or that I'm uninterested. It's just that we have a long time between now and the late-December release date, and the waiting is killing me. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as Holmes and Dr. Watson makes for a thrilling pair. Add to that mix the potent force that is "Snatch" director Guy Ritchie, and you've got all the pieces necessary for a heavily stylized period mystery flick. To which I say 'cool'!

Before you hit the jump to check out the shiny new character poster for Mark Strong's Lord Blackwood, take a look at the below video, in which Ritchie describes his tougher take on Holmes. Then head over to MTV.com to learn more about the "tender bromance" that Ritchie's Holmes and Watson share.
