"The Avengers" assembled at New York Comic Con last weekend, and we got to chat with many of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Not only that, we spoke with their primary nemesis: Tom Hiddleston, who stars as Loki in the Marvel team-up.

Beyond chatting about "The Avengers," Hiddleston weighed in on his upcoming return to Asgard in "Thor 2," which is being directed by "Monster" helmer Patty Jenkins. The actor described his interactions with Jenkins thus far and where he thinks the story of "Thor 2" should go.

Starting in the middle of last week and continuing on through the weekend, fans of a galaxy far, far away descended on Orlanda, Florida for "Star Wars" Celebration V. A lot of crazy happenings went down, from "Star Wars"-inspired speed dating to the (temporary) closing of Disney's "Star Tours" ride to the long-awaited announcement of a "Star Wars" Blu-ray release. MTV's Laurel Woods braved Florida's brutal August heat/humidity to bring back reports straight from the show floor. Here we have Laurel's impressions from the show's so-called Main Event, a one-on-one conversation between George Lucas and Jon Stewart.

The Force was strong with me this past weekend, as I was able to score a press pass to the Main Event at "Star Wars" Celebration V in Orlando, Florida. My head is still buzzing from all the excitement. The live event took place at 11am Saturday morning in the Chapin Theater at the Orange County Convention Center. The space seats just 2600 people, in comparison to the approximately 35,000 in attendance at Celebration. Read more...

Hey "Star Wars" fans! You know this year's fan convention, Celebration V, is in Florida at the Orange County Convention Center, right? Here's something you didn't know though: Mark Hamill is going to be in attendance. That's right, Luke Skywalker himself. Lucasfilm exclusively confirmed to MTV that the celebrated actor will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. He'll also put in an appearance on the Celebration Stage. None of the specific scheduling has been announced just yet, but the convention runs from August 12 to August 15, so count on all of this happening sometime during that timeframe. This is in addition to the already announced Jon Stewart interview with George Lucas, not to mention all of the other "Star Wars" fan-fulfilling craziness that's planned.

Although he previously appeared at Celebration Europe and Celebration Japan, Celebration V marks Hamill's first appearance at one of the U.S.-based conventions. Hopefully things will go better for him than they did when he appeared at BiMonSciFiCon on "The Simpsons." Tickets are still available, so head over to the Celebration website to get yours now.

Marvel Super Hero SquadNow this is a dream come true talent roster for geeks everywhere. Marvel is prepping a kid-friendly animated TV series for the Cartoon Network entitled "Super Hero Squad." The cute & cuddly character designs are born of a Hasbro toy line bearing the same name. I somehow doubt that Captain America will be pierced by a sniper's bullet in this series.

Over on MTV Splash Page, Brian Warmoth reports that last week's San Diego Comic-Con brought some serious casting for the series. A veritable smorgasbord of geek culture icons will be joining the voice cast, including George Takei ("Star Trek"), Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica"), Robert Englund ("Nightmare on Elm Street"), James Marsters ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), Greg Grunberg ("Heroes") and Adrian Pasdar ("Heroes"). Oh... and the one and only Luke Skywalker -- Mark Hamill, who will voice Nazi supervillain/severe burn victim Red Skull.

Yes, you read it right: this kids show will feature a Nazi supervillain. Check out the full details in Brian's story over on Splash Page.
