"Due Date" is ready to be delivered into theaters this weekend, and this is one birth we don't want to miss. The comedy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis got us thinking that road tripping across the country to see your child's birth is a pretty good reason to spend that much time in a car with a strange bearded man. In fact, it's probably one of the best reasons behind a road movie we've seen. So we decided to take a look back to figure out whether our other favorite big-screen road trips were for good reasons or purely for bad behavior. Read more...

Apparently today is the day for weird film-to-Broadway news. First up is "Sister Act," which EW.com says is primed to take its act to the Great White Way beginning April 20, 2011. This news is somewhat understandable, as the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg was a box-office hit, and a musical adaptation is already enjoying a lucrative run in London's West End.
On the stranger end of the stick, Deadline has confirmed that a revival of "Carrie" the musical is in the works. No, not Carrie as in the "Sex and the City" leading lady (which would actually make some sense), but Carrie as in the vengeful main character of Stephen King's book, it's acclaimed 1976 movie adaptation and its not-so-acclaimed 1988 Broadway musical version (which lost $8 million dollars in its short run).
Add that to the planned "Little Miss Sunshine" musical that was announced over the summer, the confirmed Julie Taymor "Spider-man" musical and even a Broadway version of "The Notebook," and we've got a really random array of films making their way to Broadway and not enough musicals crossing over into Hollywood (I'm looking at you, "Wicked"). Here are some films that we hope never get the musical treatment. Read more...

If ever there were two popular Hollywood properties that would end up crossing over, I must admit, I never expected them to be the Jason Bourne series and "Little Miss Sunshine." But that's exactly how The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog is describing Warner Bros.'s latest acquisition, "Family Getaway."
The script was the first sale for newcomers Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer. "We both went into shock and are still shock," Friedman said to Heat Vision. "It's a dream come true." Read more...
These days, Abigail Breslin is growing up fast. The “Little Miss Sunshine” star recently graduated to the heart-tugging, adult-themed topics of “My Sister’s Keeper.” She also dropped jaws at Comic-Con with footage of her kicking ass in the October flick “Zombieland.” Now Breslin has revealed to MTV that she’s signed on for one of her heaviest roles yet.
“I’m going to Iowa to film a movie called ‘Janie Jones,’” the 13-year-old cutie told us this week, revealing the name of the top-secret project which she recently became the first major star to join.
“I can’t say too much about it, but it is a drama,” Breslin said of the film’s tone, claiming that it will be quite a departure from her past roles. “It has some funny parts in it, but for the most part it’s drama.” Read more...
