It's Kutcher's first return to scripted television in a regular role since "That '70s Show," and one has to wonder how the new gig will affect his future as a Hollywood movie star, for better or for worse.

Lindsay LohanIt's summer movie season, which means horror fans have sun, surf, and killer fish on the brain. We've been bringing you tons of "Piranha 3DD" news – because life just doesn't feel complete without it – but this week's best in horror updates also skinny-dips, battles sharks (and some invisible sea creatures), and heads to Venice, California.

Movies like "Hobo With a Shotgun" and "Machete" have breathed new life into the exploitation subgenre, and "Skinny Dip" is upping the ante with a great cast that includes Sasha Grey, badass Danny Trejo, and now Pam Grier, Michael Madsen, and Brigitte Nielsen. Meanwhile, Halle Berry is battling sharks in "Dark Tide," but the cast of "Sector 7" has to deal with a transparent monster on board their ship. There's a vampire on Venice Beach that wants to take a bite out of you. No, it isn't Lindsay Lohan, but she's dressed to kill for a new bloodsucking photoshoot that "Buffy" star Sarah Michelle Gellar would probably put a stake to.

Lindsay LohanFROM MTV MOVIES: After some momentary drama on Wednesday, when it seemed that Lindsay Lohan's role in the mob family biopic "Gotti: Three Generation" was in jeopardy, later that day it was confirmed that the embattled starlet would still be in the film.

Originally up for the role of Victoria Gotti, Lohan is now set to play the wife of John Gotti Jr., Kim Gotti. "I'm really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do," Lohan said about the casting, according to The Associated Press. "I think it's such an iconic story. I think it's a great story to be told. I'm honored to be working with John Travolta and Joe Pesci."

The movie's producer, Marc Fiore, explained to People.com that it was Lohan herself who managed to make sure she got cast in the flick. "She was definitely out as of earlier today, but she really wanted the part," he said. "She not only is back in the movie, but she single-handedly put it all together. She called me personally and put her team on it, and we came to an agreement."

James CameronThe Na'vi are on the move, thanks to James Cameron.

The director's two planned "Avatar" sequels have packed up shop and are headed to Manhattan Beach, California, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Our guess is that the setting of the next two parts in Cameron's epic science fiction saga will move locations as well. Since the Omaticaya's Hometree was destroyed in "Avatar," your guess is as good as ours as to where they'll be heading to set up a new home base.

After the jump, take a walk with Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel," find out which zombie war flick is actually getting made, and hit the streets with Ghostface.

Robert Pattinson. "Akira." Two very different worlds quite possibly colliding.

When MTV News recently sat down with RPattz, we brought up the subject of the "Akira" movie, a project that he's currently rumored for alongside a shortlist of other young hot actors like Andrew Garfield. But while he says he "love[s] the movie," he's only seen the reports that you have.

"I mean, I don’t know. I’ve seen the same thing as anybody else has, really," Pattison told MTV. Still, despite no concrete attachment to the project, the actor digs its style. "I mean, I like motorbikes," he said with a laugh.

After the jump check out the rest of today's news, including the new release date for "Monsters University," Sean Hayes being cast in "The Three Stooges" movie, Lindsay Lohan's latest offer, and why Mark Wahlberg may take the "Bait and Switch."

Malin Akerman and Lindsay LohanPoor Lindsay Lohan. The girl can't even get a gig as a porn star these days. After a tumultuous past year, Lohan finally looked like she was getting her career back on track by landing the lead role in "Inferno," a biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace.

Director Matthew Wilder even moved production of the film from Louisiana to more expensive Los Angeles back in September to accommodate Lohan. But Deadline reports that Wilder and the "Inferno" gang have finally given up on the troubled actress, tapping "Watchmen" star Malin Akerman as her replacement.

"My understanding is that Lindsay was dropped as she's impossible to insure and the producers loved Malin," an insider told Deadline. Akerman's rep has since confirmed the casting. Read more...

Lindsay Lohan on set of 'Inferno'Though Lindsay Lohan was released from jail on Friday, there is little doubt that court complications will keep her in the Los Angeles area long past her release. Those geographical limitations have now affected Lohan's upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic "Inferno," with the production now moving from Louisiana to Los Angeles to accommodate the troubled star. Sources told TMZ that the decision was made because they "don't want to lose Lindsay for the part."

Director Matthew Wilder confirmed the move to MTV News on Friday. "We love her. We want her to do well," he said. "I think [it] will make things easier on the Lindsay front. I understand people's exasperation. I share it. But there is a tremendous gift underneath all the obvious baggage." Read more...
