All week long, we’ve been giving you an exclusive look at the new “A-Team,” featuring peeks at B.A. Baracus, “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock, the villainous Lynch, Face-Man and Hannibal. Now, we bid adieu to the crack commando unit with the main new character of the bunch: Sexy Jessica Biel as Lieutenant Sosa.
“Jessie, she's a captain with DCIS, which is the Defense Criminal Investigative Service,” director Joe Carnahan explained of the new character, who shares an uncomfortable dating history with Bradley Cooper’s Face. “They’re basically the department of the defense, and she supersedes [military officials] - if she goes on a base, it doesn't matter if you’re a general, she can supplant you.” Read more...
We hope you guys have been enjoying our “A-Team Week” festivities, as we’ve teamed with director Joe Carnahan to unveil exclusive details about B.A. Baracus, “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock, the villainous Lynch and the Face Man.
Now, it’s time to take a closer look at the leader of the gang, both literally and fictionally: Oscar-nominee Liam Neeson as the cigar-chomping commando who loves it when a plan comes together.
“The important parts of Hannibal were obviously the cigar, and I wanted that same kind of [authority] for Liam,” explained “Smokin’ Aces” director Carnahan, comparing Neeson’s performance to the Col. John “Hannibal” smith role originated on '80s TV by George Peppard. “And beyond that, I think Liam was insistent that 'I'm not going to do a George Peppard imitation.' This is Liam Neeson, you know?” Read more...
The upcoming “A-Team” movie is interesting because it's four stars enjoy different kinds of fame. You’ve got the respected veteran actor (Liam Neeson), the post-hype guy hoping to prove his recent blockbuster was no fluke (Bradley Cooper), the we-know-nothing-about-him-but-want-to-know-more up-and-comer (Sharlto Copley) and the non-actor whose fame was born outside of Hollywood, an “And introducing...” rookie whose career could take off (Quinton “Rampage” Jackson). Now, one of these guys might follow up the summer '10 TV adaptation by immediately re-teaming with director Joe Carnahan.
“There’s a thing I’m gonna do next called ‘The Grey, and I think there’s a very good chance that one of the members of this cast will do this film with me,” the “Smokin’ Aces” filmmaker revealed when we spoke to him recently about being one of our “10 to Watch in ‘10” selections. “We’ll be doing it soon.” Read more...
There are five months left until “The A-Team” hits theaters, and director Joe Carnahan has wrapped principal production. But for anyone out there who thinks Mr. T won’t be making a cameo in the flick, well, we pity the fool.
“There’s still a discussion about T,” the “Smokin’ Aces” filmmaker revealed to us recently during an interview for his “10 to Watch in 2010” profile. “We would love to get [Mr. T] in this film somewhere. He’s such a personality.”
Growing up, my friends and I always loved Mr. T because he was an energetic, larger-than-life, and somewhat off-the-wall character. Those same traits are why fans still love the strongman at age 57 –- and the reason why he has steadfastly refused to do an “A-Team” cameo ever since breaking the news with us nearly 3 years ago. UPDATE: Surprise, surprise, the trailer was pulled. I hope you managed to get a taste. A shiny, new hi-def version will certainly be hitting the web sometime soon, so stay tuned.
I don't know about you readers, but as a child of the '80s, I can't wait to see "The A-Team" this summer. Goofy, over-the-top action doesn't scare me in the slightest. Just like last summer's "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "The A-Team" sort of demands that kind of treatment.
The cast is certainly high-profile, even downright respected. The quartet of mercs will be played by Liam Neeson, Sharlto Copley, Bradley Cooper and UFC champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, the relative newcomer of the bunch. We've seen very little of the movie so far -- just some set photos and press shots -- but that all changes today. A low-fi version of the trailer hit the Internet today, and you can check it out after the jump. Be warned though: if you want the full effect, you'd do better to hold off and wait until you can catch it in front of one of this weekend's new releases. Read more...
The second trailer for "Clash of the Titans" slipped onto the Internet over the weekend. The first trailer was no slouch, but this new one brings all sorts of thrilling money shots. You get Liam Neeson-as-Zeus (speaking even!), Ralph Fiennes' Hades, more giant scorpion action, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reveal of Medusa and -- best of all -- a partial reveal of the fearsome Kraken sea monster.
Plus, the unveiling of the movie's vaguely blasphemous new tagline, "Damn the Gods." Get psyched people. The gods will be damned on March 26 of next year.
Move along. There's no embedded trailer to see here. You will get to see it soon enough, in lovely hi-def, when Warner Bros. officially releases it. That is all.
Last week, Jessica Biel revealed exclusively to MTV some of the first hard details about her character in director Joe Carnahan's big screen adaptation of "The A-Team." She'll play Carissa Sosa, a Department of Defense flunkie who has a romantic history with A-Team honcho Faceman (Bradley Cooper). Presuming the flick follows the action genre mold, Sosa will likely spend much of the movie pursuing Faceman and his pals until circumstances force them all to work together against a greater threat. Or something like that. Remember: this is pure speculation.
If facts are what you're looking for, there are some more to share on "The A-Team." Earlier this week, "Entertainment Tonight" reported from the set of the movie in a short video clip featuring interviews with Cooper, Biel and B.A. Baracus actor and UFC champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. You also get a brief, up-close glimpse of "District 9" star Sharlto Copley in his full "Howling Mad" Murdock get-up, but Liam Neeson's Hannibal is notably absent. Check out the video-y goodness after the jump. Read more...
--This news just arrived in my mailbox, so consider it hot off the presses. Overture Films has issued a casting announcement for Matt Reeves' "Let Me In," a remake of the Swedish vampire flick "Let the Right One In." Joining the cast are Kodi Smit-McPhee ("The Road"), Chloe Moretz ("500 Days of Summer") and Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor").
--As if the badass trailer for Chris Nolan's "Inception" wasn't enough to get you excited, there's more news on the hush-hush project today. IMAX Corporation announced that the sci-fi flick will hit IMAX theaters and regular theaters simultaneously on July 16, 2010. And yes, that is too long to wait for something that looks so freaking cool. (ComingSoon) Read more...

Sometimes, you can believe everything you hear -- or read, in this case. A month after Bradley Cooper confirmed himself for "The A-Team," then quickly backtracked, we learn that The Hollywood Reporter reveals that he is in "official talks" to play Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck in Joe Carnahan's remake of "The A-Team." You can still play the skeptic if you like, but I think the third time's the charm on this particular bit of news. Particularly since Faceman is the perfect character for Cooper: handsome, popular with the ladies and hustler for the team.
Cooper's not the only member of team that's been potentially recruited, as Variety is reporting that Liam Neeson is negotiating his own place in "The A-Team," as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, the team's head honcho and tactician. Neeson is reportedly working out "money issues" with Fox, and as he's fresh off the solid streak of "Taken," "Chloe" and "The Clash of the Titans," he is certainly entitled to play a little hardball. Don't you think? Read more...
Louis Leterrier's "Clash of the Titans" remake is quickly coming together, and the director has mimicked the 1981 original by recruiting the best of Britain and Ireland to reside in Mount Olympus. According to Variety, Ralph Fiennes is set to play Hades, the God of the Underworld, and Liam Neeson will be flinging lightning bolts as the top god Zeus -- a role played by Sir Laurence Olivier in the original film.
Fiennes and Neeson join Sam Worthington (Perseus), Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos in Leterrier's retelling of the Greek myth. The director is already departing from both versions of the story by giving a big part to Hades, and by adding Mikkelsen's character Draco, head of the Praetorian Guard. Read more...
