Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe has been at the front of some of today's most intriguing casting rumors. A chain reaction of reports set off by a Deadline post places Crowe on the shortlist for two high-profile projects.

Wednesday night (February 1), Deadline's Mike Fleming reported that he heard that Darren Aronofsky has his top choices picked for his biblical epic, "Noah." According to Fleming, Aronofsky wants Russell Crowe for the title role and Liam Neeson for a different character.

The "Black Swan" director's first choice, Christian Bale, had to drop out due to a busy scheduling conflicts, and Crowe's credentials certainly qualify him as a suitable replacement.

Carnahan Death Wish

Word came down earlier this week that director Joe Carnahan had already lined up his next project, hot off the success of his most recent, "The Grey." Carnahan is set to direct a remake of the Charles Bronson punk-killing classic "Death Wish."

News of the remake hit fans' ears and the world erupted in a cry of "Liam Neeson for 'Death Wish'!" but the director remained quiet about the project until Tuesday (January 31). Carnahan took to Twitter to give an update on the project and the way he intends on approaching it.

First off, Carnahan clarified exactly what the project is, a book adaptation instead of a film remake. "Guys. I'm doing 'Death Wish.' But this version is a re-imagining of the book and set in present day Los Angeles. The L.A. of 'Collateral,'" he wrote.

Liam Neeson rejoins his "A-Team" director Joe Carnahan for the man-versus-nature thriller "The Grey," in theaters today (January 27). The ads might have you thinking it's nothing but wolf punching, but there's a lot more going on.

Here are our five reasons to brave the winter weather and go see "The Grey."

1. Liam the Badass is Back
Neeson seems to specialize in "Tough Guy In Charge" roles, and there aren't many characters more badass than John Ottway, an oil-rig employee who leads a rough band of plane crash survivors through the wilds of Alaska. Neeson is believable as the stern but caring father figure, who tries to keep his co-workers alive, and when he stares down those angry wolves, you don’t doubt that he can take them on with his bare hands.

Surviving a plane crash is no easy feat. Outrunning mythical wolves can prove even trickier, and not everyone can do it with as much ease as Liam Neeson in "The Grey." The survival thriller hits theaters today, and before you go off trying to rough it in the arctic yourself, do yourself a kindness by reading our do's and don't's for making it through such an ordeal.

Here is our list of "The Grey" survival tips:

DON'T Act Like A Jerk
Let's take this one off the table right away. If the audience isn't going to be rooting for you, they're going to cheer on the wolves once they get a hold of you. When it comes to an unlikeable character, the only thing more bloodthirsty than the supernatural wolves chasing you is the audience eagerly anticipating your demise. Be kind often and early, and you'll at least survive until the second act.

You're about to watch an exclusive clip from Liam Neeson's upcoming thriller, "The Grey." This time, he's not fighting terrorists who've kidnapped his daughter or an identity thief, but something far more immutable: the wilderness itself.

A group of men are stranded in Alaska following a plane crash, and Neeson's the leader who must bring them back to civilization. While trekking through the unknown, they're forced to use their intelligence to survive the threats of the wild: wolves, and lots of them.

Battleship

There is something serious going on in the new "Battleship" trailer: explosions. Also, Rihanna (we think).

In the trailer, which debuted over at Apple today, there's lots of robots that turn into other things (we can't legally say they "transform," can we?), and tons of super slow-mo shots of beautiful people looking really, really confused and upset.

Liam Neeson, if you're reading this, we just want you to know how much we love you. Not that we haven't always been big fans of yours, but your late-stage breakout as an action star has been not only thoroughly fascinating to behold, but endlessly entertaining as well.

After showing off his combat chops in the Luc Besson produced "Taken," Neeson got another shot at the action hero hall of fame in "Unknown." The Irish actor stars as Martin Harris, a doctor traveling with his wife (January Jones) through Berlin for a biotechnology summit. His excursion goes awry following an accident that leaves him comatose, but matters are complicated even further when he wakes up and everybody he knows and loves — his wife included — have absolutely no idea who he is.

Neeson's not alone in the butt-kicking action; he's aided by an all-star cast that includes Diane Kruger, Aidan Quinn and Frank Langella, to name a few, all of whom are highlighted in this exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette from the just-released "Unknown" Blu-ray.

"Unknown" lands on Blu-ray today (June 21).

Liam NeesonAfter giving a part that was originally intended for Mel Gibson to Liam Neeson, "The Hangover Part II" director Todd Phillips has changed things up yet again.

Over the weekend Variety reported that Phillips, while editing the comedy, decided to cut the scene that immediately followed Neeson's. The only problem was that Neeson's scene required both a re-write and a re-shoot. Since Neeson was tied up in London filming "Clash of the Titans 2," Phillips had to find a replacement. He chose Nick Cassavetes, who will now play the tattoo artist in Bangkok that the Wolf Pack run into in their midst of their shenanigans.

Check out the rest of today's casting news after the jump, including Michael Shannon snagging the role of the villainous Zod in the "Man of Steel," Jessica Biel closing in on the "Total Recall" reboot and more!

Liam NeesonLiam Neeson has a particular set of skills. Skills he nearly didn't apply to "Taken 2."

Although a sequel to the Luc Besson-produced "Taken" is now officially on track, Deadline reports that leading man Neeson nearly passed on reprising his role as retired spy Bryan Mills. The actor reportedly wanted to take some time off from acting, which wouldn't have jived with Besson's hopes to shoot the film this year. Those issues have since been resolved, and Neeson will now shoot "Taken 2" either at the end of this year or the beginning of 2012.

But had Neeson passed on "Taken 2," some very interesting names were floated around as his possible replacement. Get the lowdown on these actors past the jump!
