Saturn Award Nominations Include 'Inception,' 'Let Me In' And 'Tron: Legacy'

Inception"The King's Speech" is likely to dominate the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (February 27), but if zombies, aliens, vampires and dream hijackers are more your speed, just hang tight until June.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Films have announced the nominations for the 37th Annual Saturn Awards, which honor excellence in all things gruesome, awesome and everything in between for both movies and television.

Christopher Nolan's "Inception" leads the pack in the film categories with nine nominations (one more than its outstanding Oscar nom total), including Best Science Fiction Film, Best Writing and Best Director for Nolan. He'll square off against directors Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"), Clint Eastwood ("Hereafter"), Matt Reeves ("Let Me In"), Martin Scorsese ("Shutter Island") and David Yates ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1").

"Inception" will also vie for Best Special Effects, Best Writing (Nolan), Best Music (Hans Zimmer), Best Actress (Ellen Page) and Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio, who competes against himself for his work in "Shutter Island.")

'Cloverfield 2' Update: Matt Reeves And J.J. Abrams Haven't Found Right 'Idea' Yet

'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'In the spirit of the old adage, "No news is good news," the filmmakers behind "Cloverfield" — director Matt Reeves, Writer Drew Goddard and Producer J.J. Abrams — are still thinking about a sequel. They just haven't put any words to paper yet.

MTV News caught up with Reeves today to chat about the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD release of "Let Me In" (expect more detailed info on those special features — specifically the car crash sequence — soon) and naturally had to ask about the progress on "Cloverfield 2."

"We would love to do it, we just haven’t figured out the idea that we want to do yet," Reeves said honestly. "J.J. [Abrams] has been very busy with 'Super 8' and he’s really busy with it now, obviously because they’ve got a release date to make and he’s busily working in editorial," he explained.

Josh's Top 10 of 2010Are you top ten-ed out? Probably? But damn it, I didn't see a zillion movies this year (OK, around 150) to not earn the right to subject you to a list of my 10 favorites. Honestly this list is probably more for me than for you guys. As we head into the awards season (People's Choice is just days away, get your powder blue tux ready!), what better way to get into the right mindset of endless accolades than to bestow my own. So here we go folks... the top 10 films of 2010* according to me.

Chloe Moretz On 'Hugo Cabret' And Co-Star Sacha Baron Cohen: Both 'Amazing'

The term "It Girl" gets tossed around a lot, but there's really no other way to describe Chloe Moretz, the precocious 13-year-old who first caught our eye as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's sage younger sis in "(500) Days of Summer," kicked some serious ass as the foul-mouthed Hit Girl in "Kick-Ass" and can currently be seen vamping it up (literally) in "Let Me In." But you know how we know that she's really made it? Because legendary director Martin Scorsese recently cast her in "Hugo Cabret," an epic adventure tale that marks his first go at 3-D filmmaking.

While chatting with Moretz about "Let Me In" last week, MTV News got a chance to ask the mature, intelligent teen about her role in "Cabret," what her experience has been filming the movie in London for the past three months, and whether co-star Sacha Baron Coen is anything like his big-screen thong-wearing alter-egos.

"It's a film about a boy named Hugo Cabret [played by Asa Butterfield], who's basically a street urchin, and he loses his father. His father dies. And he goes to live with his uncle who's a drunk and runs the clocks in a Paris train station," Moretz explained of the film, which is based on Brian Selznick's 2007 novel "The Invention of Hugo Cabret." 'Let The Right One In' Author John Lindqvist Digs 'Let Me In': MTV News Exclusive

Let Me InFans of Tomas Alfredson's Swedish vampire flick "Let the Right One In" have been skeptical of director Matt Reeves' American remake, entitled "Let Me In," since the nanosecond the project was announced. Their gripe: The Swedish movie was perfect, so why remake it?

The only problem: Reeves' version, which opened Friday (albeit to a modest $5.3 mil), is being lauded as an excellent film in its own right. "Let Me In" has won over the vast majority of critics -- it's currently sporting a none-too-shabby 86 percent fresh rating on -- and has made a diehard fan of John Lindqvist, the man whose debut novel "Let the Right One In" is the basis for both movies.

'Let Me In' Director Matt Reeves Talks 'Super 8,' 'Cloverfield 2'

Want to know what JJ Abrams' super-secret "Super 8" is about?

JJ's pal, "Cloverfield" and "Let Me In" director Matt Reeves, knows. In fact, he's one of the anointed few lucky enough to have read the script. The only problem is, he's not really at liberty to discuss it.

That said, in a recent chat with MTV's Josh Horowitz, Reeves took a detour from promoting his new vampire thriller/drama "Let Me In" (in theaters now) to drop a couple hints about "Super 8." Though he prefaced the discussion by saying, "I won't reveal anything; if I did, I'd probably disappear from the face of the Earth," Reeves kindly went on to reveal that "[the movie] is very, very intimately connected to an aspect of [Abrams'] childhood and to this idea of Super 8 [films]."

"Intimately connected" to Abrams' childhood, you say, Matt? Interesting. Abrams has gone on record as saying "Super 8" will be set in Ohio in 1979 and be an homage to the Steven Spielberg science-fiction films of the '70s and '80s. Let Me InIn honor of the October 1 release of "Let Me In," we're going to let YOU in on a little secret: New Yorkers who hit up the 7:20 p.m. showing of the vampire flick at the Loews Lincoln Square on Saturday, October 2, will be treated to a post-screening Q&A with director Matt Reeves moderated by MTV's Josh Horowitz.

In case you're not familiar with "Let Me In," it's based on the acclaimed Swedish film "Let the Right One In," about a bullied 12-year-old boy who finds his soul mate in an ages-old vampire who happens to be trapped in the body of a young girl.

'Let Me in' Clip Establishes Setting, Features Creepy Car Kidnapping

Two things define Matt Reeves' "Let Me In," his remake of the character-driven Swedish horror flick "Let the Right One In": an '80s setting and an atypical human/vampire relationship between two children (though technically, one of them only looks like a child). That's what I get from this new clip; lucky Toronto International Film Festival goers will get to find out in a few days exactly what Reeves cooked up for his remake; the rest of us will be left waiting for the October 1 release. But at least you can get a taste now...

How 'Let Me In' Director Matt Reeves Hopes To Set His Work Apart From 'Let The Right One In'

Last week we debuted a San Diego Comic-Con teaser poster for "Let Me In" to go along with some words from director Matt Reeves about his coming adaptation of the Swedish vampire tale, "Let the Right One In." Speaking several days before the planned SDCC panel for the film, Reeves was very excited to finally share a little bit of his vision of the story.

The announcement of a "Let the Right One In" remake was initially met by resistance from some fans who didn't feel that a 2008 film, one largely considered to be an exceptional work, was really worth revisiting. Reeves' greatest hope for the SDCC panel was to show attendees exactly why and how his own take on the story stands apart. By most accounts, he accomplished just that. And now that you've seen some of his vision, I figured I'd share some more from the director on his remake in comparison to the 2008 original. Read More...
