It's been almost a week since Ridley Scott was in the trades. Did you miss seeing his name attached to another potential directorial gig? Well, this latest Scott news doesn't concern a new project. He has long talked about doing a movie about the Gucci family, which would presumably climax with the murder of former fashion mogul Maurizio Gucci, who was gunned down in 1995 by a hitman hired by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. Now, according to Variety, Angelina Jolie has been offered the part of Reggiani.

Despite having more anticipated projects, like the "Alien" prequel (which we'd love to see Jolie star in), and more marketable ideas, like the "Monopoly" board game adaptation, on his plate, Scott is still actively developing "Gucci." The film is reportedly a priority for Fox 2000, which is in the process of hiring someone to rewrite the script. The story will span three decades, focusing not just on Maurizio Gucci's death but on his family's fashion empire in general. Read more...

Why don't you take a look at the teaser first. We'll discuss afterwards. Here are the important points, the ones that'll make you click play: "Inception" is director Chris Nolan's follow-up to "The Dark Knight." He also directed "Memento" and "The Prestige." "Inception" stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Why haven't you clicked play yet?

I've got to say, I get a very "Matrix" vibe off of this trailer. I mean that in a good way; "Inception" doesn't look like "The Matrix," it just makes me recall the initial sense of wonderment I felt at seeing the first teaser. Read more...

Ridley ScottIs it intervention time for Ridley Scott? The man is helming the still-untitled "Robin Hood" adventure and he already has plans to direct the "Alien" prequel and a "Monopoly" adaptation as well. Today, the director is ramping up yet another project, making Scott either a brave new director or a shameless workaholic.

However you want to describe him, Scott is nonetheless throwing himself towards "Brave New World," based on the classic Aldous Huxley novel of the same name. Scott's been attached to the film for quite awhile, but today brings word from The Hollywood Reporter that Leonardo DiCaprio is joining the fray as a producer with an eye for a starring role. "Apocalypto" writer Farhad Safinia is set to pen the script. Read more...

Leonardo DiCaprio"Little Red Riding Hood" is one of the creepier folktales out there. A young girl goes skipping through a dark forest, bound for her sick grandmother's house with a basket full of food. Along the way she encounters a wolf, who advises her to bring flowers. While Little Red is dilly-dallying, the wolf runs ahead to poor grandma's house and eats her, disguising himself as the poor lady. Then he eats Red when she arrives, only to be saved by a wandering hunter who cuts the two free, fills the wolf's body with stones and drowns him.

Pleasant, right? There have actually been numerous variations on the story, and now it looks like we'll be getting one more. Variety reports that Leonardo DiCaprio has picked up the rights to "Little Red Riding Hood" under his Appian Way banner. The trade reports that the project will serve up a "Gothic reimagining" of the fairy tale, with a script from "Orphan" writer David Leslie Johnson. Read more...

The Twilight ZoneWord emerged yesterday that Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way would join with Warner Bros. to produce an all new silver screen version of "The Twlight Zone." Rod Serling's classic sci-fi/fantasy/horror TV series ended in 1964, but it has seen a number of TV revivals since then. The only feature-length adaptation came in 1983, a multi-part, multi-director effort with contributions from the likes of Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, George Miller and John Landis.

All we know about the coming "Twilight Zone" return so far is that the aim is to produce a continuous story based on any number of classic series plotlines. Quite a different approach from the 1983 version's discrete vignettes, but it's good to know that Serling's original stories will be serviced. The question is, which would be best for the coming movie? Keep reading for my own suggestions. And beware... spoilers ahead. Read more...

LeonardoDiCaprioIt's been a little over a month since the last Leonardo DiCaprio story, so the busy star must take a summer vacation between projects. Or perhaps director Christopher Nolan is just keeping him really busy working next to Marion Cotilliard? Whatever he's been doing, DiCaprio is fresh and ready to take a journey into "The Twilight Zone."

Variety submits for your approval that DiCaprio and his Appian Way production company will team with Warner Bros. to bring "The Twilight Zone" back to the big screen. They dusted off the property last year, but are taking the first steps of pre-production by hiring screenwriter Rand Ravich ("The Astronaut's Wife") to pen a script. DiCaprio is in good company in revisiting Rod Serling, as Steven Spielberg and John Landis ("An American Werewolf in London") produced the 1983 movie, and both directed segments for the creepy, four-part feature. Everything sounds better with a French accent. That’s just a fact, and it’s something Movies Editor Josh Horowitz learned anew while chatting with Marion Cotillard about her upcoming Christopher Nolan film, “Inception.”

No matter that the Parisian actress wouldn’t give up the juicy inside facts—partly because she didn’t know, partly because declined to say—about the secretive film that we crave here at MTV News. No matter that all she’d tell us about the plot is that it’s “about the mind.” No matter that she teased Josh at one point, “You so want to have information—I can see you!”

Leonardo DiCaprioI feel like I write a Leonardo DiCaprio story every week here on the MTV Movies Blog. There doesn't seem to be a single movie in development that he's not attached to as an actor or a producer, and he has everything on his slate from live action anime adaptations ("Akira" may have died, but "Ninja Scroll" is still alive and well) to mobster thrillers. He is a busy, busy guy.

Now, the actor is set to explore the world of online poker in an untitled project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. DiCaprio and Paramount have picked up an untitled pitch from Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Leo star and produce via his Appian Way banner. Read more...

Leonardo Dicaprio. Mark Ruffalo. Ben Kingsley. Max Von Sydow. And of course Martin Scorsese. These are the key elements working to get me very excited about "Shutter Island," the latest novel from Dennis Lehane ("Mystic River") to be adapted for the silver screen. Apple dropped the new trailer today, and it's good. Take a look and then hit the jump for some thoughts.

Leonardo DiCaprioFROM SPLASH PAGE: Last month, we caught up with comics veteran Todd McFarlane during the premiere of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and received some details about his plans for a new “Spawn” movie. Comparing the film to everything from “Jaws” to “The Departed,” the Spawn (and Spider-Man villain Venom) creator had a lot to say about his ambitious plans for a reboot of the “Spawn” movie universe — plans that include a very lofty goal for the film’s lead actor.

“The main character isn’t Spawn, per se, it’s the guy chasing Spawn,” McFarlane told MTV News. “And I’ve always had [Leonardo] DiCaprio in the back of my mind.”
