Going "Back to the Future" seems to have paid off for both Michael J. Fox and Lea Thompson: 25 years after the time-travel comedy became a worldwide sensation and the highest-grossing movie of 1985, the stars are still amazed by the impact the film had back then... and still has today.

At a recent event to celebrate the release of the "Back to the Future" Trilogy 25th Anniversary Collection on DVD and Blu-ray, Fox told MTV News that while he doesn't remember "large chunks" of making the film -- he was also starring in "Family Ties" at the time and was thus working 20-hour days -- he does remember what happened when the movie hit theaters. "I was away in England when it opened," he said. "And I was getting these calls from the States saying, 'You have no idea how big this is.' And when I came back, it was a different world."

Thompson, meanwhile, marveled that she's now getting recognized by a whole new generation of fans. "It's kind of crazy, you know. I see these kids and they're like, 'Oh my God -- you're Lorraine McFly! And you're so hot!' And I'm like, 'You were -10 when I made this movie. That's so cool!'" Read More...

It's hard to believe that it's been 25 years since Marty McFly first hopped in a DeLorean and traveled back in time, 25 years since Doc Brown first screamed "1.21 gigawatts!," 25 years since Marty's mom accidentally tried to put the moves on her own son, and 25 years since "Back to the Future" became a pop-culture phenomenon that spawned two sequels and a deluge of still-quoted one-liners. Ah, but it has... and as proof, the cast and filmmakers gathered in New York City last night to celebrate the release of the "Back to the Future" Trilogy 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Collection.

MTV News was on hand for the red-carpet event and was able to "go back in time" with stars Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd, as well as director Robert Zemeckis, all of whom reminisced about their favorite lines and scenes from the movie and the questions they most often get from diehard "BTTF" fans.

"The thing that people ask me about more than anything else is the hoverboard," Fox (a.k.a series hero Marty McFly) said of the flying skateboard he rides in "Back to the Future: Part II." "People want to know where they can get a hoverboard. I don't know. I wish I had a hoverboard because I was hanging from cranes and swung through the courtyard, dangling like a puppet and a hoverboard stapled to my feet." Read More...

In case the just-released footage of Eric Stoltz as the original Marty McFly wasn't enough to get you screaming "1.21 gigawatts!," here's some more "Back to the Future" awesomeness: a newly shot "Back to the Future" teaser trailer starring the man who replaced Stoltz behind the wheel of the time-traveling DeLorean, Michael J. Fox.

The new clip was shot to hype the "Back to the Future" reunion taking place at Spike's 2010 Scream Awards on October 19. Cast members Fox, Lea Thompson (Marty's mom Lorraine) and Elizabeth Shue (Marty's girlfriend Jennifer... from "Back to the Future: Part II" and "Part III," but not the original) will gather on stage to celebrate the original film's 25th anniversary.

The new teaser is basically a shot-for-shot remake of the film's original 1985 trailer... but with one very big difference at the end... which you can check out for yourself. Read More...

Great Scott! On this day in 1955 -- in the fiction of "Back to the Future" anyway -- Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) discovered the secret of time travel. In his own words: "I was standing on the edge of my toilet hanging a clock, the porcelain was wet, I slipped, hit my head on the sink, and when I came to I had a revelation! A vision! A picture in my head! A picture of this!" This? What is this? It's THIS!

In honor of Dr. Brown's momentous discovery, we've decided to celebrate this day with a small image gallery. Click the image above to check out our flipbook, featuring images of the iconic DeLorean time machine and stars Lloyd, Michael J. Fox and Lea Thompson.
