The clock's ticking, "24" fans—and this time, we mean it!

Jack Bauer's big-screen return has long been in the works, with multiple script drafts turned in and even a director, Tony Scott, attached at one point. "The Transporter" is about to show off his driving skills in a brand new franchise.

Twitch reports the rumor that Universal Pictures is in preliminary talks with Jason Statham to have him come on board the next "Fast and the Furious" film. There's also a possibility that the movies will return to Europe to begin shooting back-to-back in 2012. All conjecture for now, but if true, what do you think of Statham joining Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson and the rest of the "Furious" gang?

Rachel WeiszRachel Weisz is following the yellow brick road, and it's leading her to… Jason Bourne's replacement?

Following up on last week's report that the Oscar-winning actress was in talks for a role in Sam Raimi's "Oz the Great and Powerful" comes word from Deadline that Weisz is in even deeper talks to join Jeremy Renner in "The Bourne Legacy." No details on who Weisz would be playing, sadly, and it's possible that she won't be able to pursue both projects due to overlapping shooting schedules. As always, stay tuned.

There's plenty more casting news past the jump, including Alec Baldwin's potential departure from "Rock of Ages" and Kiefer Sutherland's latest heist!

The real-time televised saga of Jack Bauer came to an end last night as Day 8 of the long-running action series "24" came to a close. If it ended on more of a whimper than Sunday evening's "Lost" finale, it's probably because Kiefer Sutherland's Bauer isn't quite done with the spy life. He's just going to be playing it out on a much larger screen.

Plans for a "24" movie have been percolating as far back as 2006, when series star Sutherland told MTV that a script was in development. More recently it was revealed that "State of Play" writer Billy Ray had been hired to develop a script. Now that the series is over, showrunner Howard Gordon is speaking publicly about what's coming next. Read more...

Well, that was tremendously unsatisfying.

In the end, President Allison Taylor doesn't sign the peace agreement with the Islamic Republic that she worked so hard -- and broke several laws -- to create. She's overwhelmed with guilt about the conspiracy she helped cover up against President Hassan. Dalia Hassan found out about the Russians' involvement, and that President Taylor subsequently knew about it. Furious, she had threatened to pull out of the agreement, but President Taylor threatened her with a nuclear strike if she exposed the truth.

After all the lies and former President Charles Logan's plans (he shoots himself, by the way, and for some reason the show didn't entirely kill him off, leaving him ripe for more Jack Bauer torture in a "24" movie), President Taylor can't go through with the treaty under these circumstances. She pulls out. Read more...

After eight seasons, the Kiefer Sutherland-starring spy series "24" will come to an end on May 24. Fox revealed on Friday that this season's closer will cap off the series. Sutherland further confirmed to EW.com that there won't be any return to TV for the show on another network. Big screens perhaps, but no network migration.

“The writers are producing the equivalent of 12 films a year, which is unheard of, and producer Howard Gordon] felt to do a ninth would be potentially damaging,” Sutherland said. “We both felt strongly that there has been a demand and an interest in a '24' film, which would be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day, so we felt it was time to move in that direction.”

So the news a few weeks ago about momentum building around a movie adaptation wasn't idle talk. But which characters will return? Sutherland's Jack Bauer of course. But who else? Perhaps Chase Edmunds, who was played by "The Pacific" star James Badge Dale? Read more...

There's no getting around it: Snake Plissken is a badass. It even says so in his contract. In John Carpenter's "Escape from New York," Kurt Russell put forth a truly memorable performance as the eyepatch-wearing former Army lieutenant charged with rescuing the U.S. President from the self-appointed Duke of New York (Isaac Hayes). So iconic was the role that the star of the coming remake is going to have his work cut out for him in matching it.

Fortunately, there are some very talented performers out there. Among them are a select few who possess the chops to strike the right balance between menacing badass and one-liner spouting... something. Who are they? Hit the jump and see for yourself. And click the image up top to check out our awesome image gallery of potential Plissken players. Read more...
