Kevin Smith sent his excitable fan base into a tizzy last April when he promised on his blog that his tenth movie would be "something special." That movie is almost certainly going to be "Ranger Danger and the Danger Rangers," the director revealed to MTV News, "depending on what happens with the next two ["Zack and Miri Make a Porno" and "Red State"]. They might try to stick me in movie jail," Smith laughed. "But I've f-ed up way worse in the past. If they didn't do it after 'Jersey Girl' I think I'm ok."
"I think it would be kinda cool to go larger budget and shoot some effects on that one," he enthused. Read more...

That Kevin Smith and Seth Rogen, two funnymen known for their raunchy yet touching blend of humor, have teamed up for "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" is so obviously a good match as to be of little surprise to even their most peripheral fans.
And if two guys who traffic in similar comedic tones joining up isn't a shock, then the fact that they both adapted a screenplay from the same source material shouldn't be either. Except, of course, that the source material in question is a superhero movie. Read more...
If there's anyone we here at the MTV Movies Blog love more than Kevin Smith, it might just be Seth Rogen, two great comedic tastes about to taste great together with "Zack and Miri Make a Porno." (And, yes, I'm aware that I just used the words "Porno" and "tastes great" in the same sentence.)
After Smith’s announcement that he cast the Judd Apatow regular alongside Elizabeth Banks in his upcoming comedy, we got on the horn with both funnymen to discuss the project. Read more...

Randall and Dante, the sad sack titular clerks at the heart of Kevin Smith’s breakthrough first film, may have sold their last pack of Nails cigarettes – for a little while anyway – with the long-rumored straight-to-DVD animated film "Clerks: Sell Out" deader than poor Julie Dwyer, regretted Smith.
"The Clerks cartoon movie we’re talking about doing is kinda held up by the fact that Disney owned the 'Clerks' cartoon," Smith said of the series, which aired for only two episodes on ABC way back in 2000. "And I don't think they get along with the Weinstein team very much anymore. So we would have to do it without them, and that’s really not an option. So I kinda don't foresee that happening." "Justice League of America" – what in the heck would we do without it? With no less than seven major superhero roles to fill, the upcoming George Miller production is hands down the best and most fun flick to speculate about right now, with everyone from gangster rappers to movie comedians to MTV writers weighing in with their choices for who should be in the film.
And the whole lot of us are looking at it the wrong way, "Chasing Amy" director Kevin Smith insisted.
"'Justice League' feels like it's an all-star movie to begin with and maybe they're kind of wise to cast it with unknowns," the director, who occasionally moonlights as a comics writer told MTV News. "It's not like you can put Brad Pitt in it and he's gonna be more important than f---- Batman. Or Superman. Like the characters themselves are the f---- stars of that movie. It's tricky to cast those roles - give a bunch of people a break."
Well, ok, not EVERY role needs to be used to give someone a break, Smith said. Read more...
