Captain JackThe tides are about to get stranger for Johnny Depp.

The Wrap reports that Depp is "close to a deal" for a fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean," surprising... well, nobody. The latest movie in the franchise, "On Stranger Tides," just passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, and Jerry Bruckheimer is rumored to be meeting intensively with writers to polish up the screenplay.

We can hardly imagine what shenanigans Captain Jack Sparrow will get into this time, but we're sure the masterminds at Disney have something clever up their sleeves.

In the news after the jump, some major comedians check in to "Hotel Transylvania," a "Zombieland" star thinks the sequel won't ever happen and a brilliant moviemaker signs Christopher Walken on as Zeus.

What would you do if you saw your best friend's wife making out with Channing Tatum (you know, besides scream "Yo Joe!" as you hit him with a pile-driver to the back)? That's the question facing Vince Vaughn in the Ron Howard-directed comedy "The Dilemma," in theaters this Friday, January 14.

In the film, Vaughn and Kevin James play Ronny and Nick, respectively, pals and business partners in an auto design firm. Just as things are starting to take off for them professionally (they land a shot at a project that would make their firm famous) and personally (Ronny decides to propose to his girlfriend Beth, played by Jennifer Connelly) something happens that threatens to ruin it all: Ronny spots Nick's wife Geneva (Winona Ryder) hooking up with a tattooed miscreant (Tatum). As you may have guessed, Ronny finds himself with quite the dilemma: to tell or not to tell? Watch three clips from the film below.

MTV's Josh Horowitz has done some questionably tasteful, unquestionably hilarious things in the pursuit of journalism, most of them as part of MTV's "After Hours" series. He's taken shots to the groin courtesy of Jason Segel and Jack Black, went pantsless at a slumber party with Jessica Alba and tested the American accents of the "Harry Potter" cast.

In his latest such video endeavor, "Fanline," Josh asks the cast of "The Dilemma" -- Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder -- to answer questions emailed or tweeted by their loyal fans. Interestingly enough, every one of the questions comes from a guy named Josh.

Ron HowardYou have to hand it to Ron Howard: The guy's got stones.

Despite the controversy recently stirred up by a gay joke in the trailer for his upcoming Vince Vaughn-Kevin James comedy "The Dilemma," Howard is sticking to his guns and leaving the quip -- in which Vaughn calls electric cars "gay" -- in the final cut of the film.

The trailer and joke hit just as America was reeling from a recent spate of teen suicides related to anti-gay bullying, and drew the ire of such public figures as Anderson Cooper and Ellen DeGeneres. Universal, the studio releasing the film, promptly excised the joke from the trailer, a move with which Howard agrees... but that doesn't mean he's pulling it from the flick before it's January 14 release. The teaser trailer for the Vince Vaughn-Kevin James comedy "The Dilemma" caused quite an uproar recently, when Anderson Cooper and Ellen DeGeneres voiced their objections to footage in which Vaughn's character uses the word "gay" in a derogatory fashion. Wisely, Universal Pictures issued a public mea culpa, stating: "The teaser trailer for 'The Dilemma' was not intended to cause anyone discomfort. In light of growing claims that the introduction to the trailer is insensitive, it is being replaced."

True to their word, Universal has yanked the teaser and released a three-minute-long theatrical trailer that is 100 percent free of gay jokes, apparently having replaced them with the plot of the entire movie. Yep, while it is entertaining -- we especially like (and simultaneously are made uncomfortable by) the part where Queen Latifah talks about getting intimate with the hood of a car -- the trailer gives away quite a bit about where the movie's going.

In a nutshell, here's what the trailer tells us: Vaughn and James play best pals whose bromance is jeopardized when Vaughn witnesses James' wife (Winona Ryder) getting it on with a younger, more "G.I. Joe"-looking guy (Channing Tatum) and must decide whether to tell his buddy. Read More...

Kevin James is a lot of things: a comedian, a king of Queens, a mall cop, a zookeeper. Now, it's time to add a new occupation to that list — mixed martial artist.

As we reported earlier today, James is set to star in an as-yet-untitled feature about a physics teacher who becomes a mixed martial arts fighter in light of some serious budget cuts at his school. He eventually winds up as a fighter in the UFC. It might seem like a stretch to some of you, but James is an actor — it's literally his job to transform himself into characters you wouldn't expect him to play.

Besides, it's not like James doesn't have a long history of martial arts films to study and base his character around. After the jump, we've listed some fighting styles and techniques that he should consider when preparing for his MMA film! Read More...

In what immediately seems an unlikely duo, Kevin James has been paired up with Vince Vaughn for that infidelity comedy I wrote about last month. According to Deadline Hollywood, the "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" star will play a man unaware that his wife is having an affair. Vaughn is his best friend, and he knows about the cheating, but he isn't sure if he should tell his buddy. And that moral dilemma is the foundation for hilarity in what will be Ron Howard's first true comedy in more than a decade.

While at first I thought the two actors clashed a bit, I have to be optimistic given that I just rewatched "Splash" over the weekend. That early Howard comedy brilliantly teamed up John Candy and Tom Hanks, who on paper might have also seemed an odd pairing. Actually, I can kinda see James and Vaughn as modern versions of Hanks and Candy's characters, respectively, only with swapped body types. And of course I'm sure the cheating wife isn't part fish (just part snake). Read More...
