In "Wanderlust," Rudd and Aniston play over-burdened New Yorkers, who are forced to leave the city and look for a life elsewhere after Rudd's character loses his job. So the couple packs up and heads to Atlanta where a job waits for Rudd with his brother's company.
Danny McBride fans, stand up! Your favorite “Foot Fist Way” and “Eastbound & Down” star and co-writer karate chops the big screen today in “Your Highness.”
McBride brings his trademark stoner slacker style to the medieval fantasy genre as Thadeous, a prince comfortably living in the shadow of his heroic and accomplished older brother Fabious (James Franco). When Fabious’ bride-to-be Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) is kidnapped by the villainous, power-hungry Leezar (Justin Theroux), the duo forgoes their sibling rivalry and teams up on a quest to defeat their enemy and save Fabious’ betrothed, meeting vigilante Isabel (Natalie Portman) along the way.
“At the end of the day, when you’re involved with a movie like this, you want the audience to kind of let go and be able to follow,” McBride recently told MTV News of the "Your Highness" cast. “Even finding humor in a guy who has to fulfill his prophecy and he has all these pressures put upon him by his parental figures, we were just trying to find the humanity in the comedy.”
Indeed, there are some A-list players involved in the side-splitting, traditional medieval archetype-busting “Your Highness,” and they bring their respective smarts to the table. Here are five of the key reasons you should worship “Your Highness.”
When the red-band trailer for David Gordon Green's raunchy medieval romp "Your Highness" hit the Web in November, it was chock full of everything we'd hoped: anachronistic F-bombs, plenty of juvenile genitalia jokes and, in a most welcome turn of events, a lingering shot of Natalie Portman stripping down to a thong to bathe in a lake.
Now, the green-band trailer for the film has arrived, and it's a whole lot like the red-band trailer, but for two facts. First off, there are no F-bombs, which we totally understand. But it's the one other notable difference that isn't sitting so well with us: In the scene where Portman doffs all but her skivvies by the lake, viewers no longer get to bask in the glow of her full moon. Indeed, the thong Portman sported in the red-band clip has been replaced by a more modest pair of bikini briefs.
But before you get your panties in bunch over this injustice to good taste and, let's face it, all mankind, know this: Portman's rear will appear in all its thong-clad glory in the R-rated movie, just as nature intended it. The bikini briefs were simply added digitally to the trailer to ensure that the clip would be able to run for all audiences in theaters. Now that we got that out of the way, give the trailer a gander above. Read More...
"Zoolander 2" is one of those projects that we here at MTV News have been dying to see for, oh, the past nine years. And, lately, there have been an orange-mocha-frappucino-ful of reasons to believe that the wait for a sequel to the 2001 male-supermodel hit might soon be over.
"We're working on it, we're working on it," Stiller told MTV News of "Zoolander 2" at last night's "Megamind" red carpet premiere. "Hopefully next year we're going to be making it. But we've been full steam ahead on it." Read More...
Don't say we didn't call it. Barely a week after MTV's Josh Wigler suggested that a "Zoolander" cartoon series follow one being made about "Napoleon Dynamite," The New York Times reports that's exactly what's happening. Ben Stiller and his Red Hour Films production company are bringing the egocentric male supermodel from the 2001 comedy hit out of retirement for a series of animated digital shorts for the Web.
"It's just a way to say, 'Hey, let's go do a couple of little five-minute episodes as opposed to saying, 'Hey, let's pitch it to the studio and then let's have a fight over the budget for six months,'" Stiller told The New York Times. Read More...
It was wild times indeed this past weekend at New York's Javits Center, where fanboys and fangirls -- many of them dressed like Chewbaccas, Predators, Princess Leias, Super Marios and N'avi warriors -- showed up in droves of thousands to geek out about comics, movies, TV and anime at New York Comic Con 2010. I was there with the rest of the MTV News crew to enjoy it in all of it's costume-clad splendor... and to interview as many actors, directors and comics masterminds as possible.
In case you found yourself occupied by football or Division Series baseball, or just simply forgot to check MTV Movies Blog this weekend (for shame), here's a little recap of what you missed and what else we've got coming down the pike from NYCC 2010. Read More...
When McBride and Theroux stopped by MTV News' skybox at New York Comic Con, they joked that they had to convince studio brass that Portman was beautiful enough to be in the film, a raunchy medieval comedy in which two princes, one heroic (James Franco) and the other lazy (McBride), team up to save their father's kingdom. "A lot of people don't know this, but Natalie Portman is very beautiful," McBride deadpanned when asked how Portman came aboard the project.
Adds Theroux: "I had said to Danny, 'You know who we should get for that part? Natalie Portman because she's hot.' And then people were like, 'I don't know.' And I said, 'Mark my words, Natalie Portman is going to be beautiful in this film, and she is a beautiful person. And the studio was like, 'Well, I don't know if we can clean her up.'" Read More...
It's hard to believe it's been nine years since Derek Zoolander unleashed "Blue Steel" upon the world, but at long last the brain-cell-challenged supermodel is primed for a comeback: A script for "Zoolander 2" is almost complete, and Ben Stiller and co. could be beautifying the big-screen again sometime in 2012.
Justin Theroux, who is co-writing the script with Stiller and plans to direct, told MTV News as much while at New York Comic Con promoting the raunchy medieval comedy "Your Highness." The script is in good shape right now," he said. "I'm feeling very optimistic about it. We're doing a few little tweaks before we submit it, but I'm very hopeful that I'm going to be working on that soon."
Theroux and Stiller aren't the only ones who'll (potentially) be working on it. Owen Wilson is set to reprise his role as Zoolander's rival-turned-pal Hansel. And Theroux -- who you may remember as the evil DJ who break-dance-fought Hansel in the first film -- says the screenplay paves the way for the return of Will Ferrell's Mugatu and the introduction of a new character played by Jonah Hill. Earlier this week, Ben Stiller posted a troubling tweet that led some fans to believe that the "Zoolander" sequel might be in danger. We spoke to him on the Time 100 red carpet days later and he quickly cleared it up, saying "I think that tweet has been misinterpreted a little." He didn't elaborate any more than that, but director/co-writer Justin Theroux sure did when we spoke to him at the "Iron Man 2" premiere.
"'Zoolander 2' is up next," he confirmed. "That's what I'm teeing up. We've got some big plans, but they're not fleshed out enough to talk about yet. I'm writing and directing." Read More...
Last week brought the amazing news that finally, after almost a decade, Ben Stiller is thinking seriously about a "Zoolander" sequel. He's currently writing it with "Iron Man 2" scribe Justin Theroux, who will also direct. That's the news as we had it last week.
Well we chatted up Stiller over the weekend at the junket for "Greenberg," the upcoming comedy he stars in for writer/director Noah Baumbach. He had quite a bit to say about the coming return of his iconic male model parody. Why it's taken so long for a sequel, where the story will go, who we can expect to see return... maybe not everything you want to know, but lots of juicy info nonetheless.
"Yes, it is true," Stiller confirmed of the sequel plans. "We are in the process of getting a script written. It's in the early stages, but it's gonna happen. We've been trying for years to... figure it out. It'll have input from all the... 'Zoolander' people. It's just... taken awhile." Read More...
