I’ve been saying it for years, but perhaps it should be repeated one more time: The funniest person in Hollywood might just be Justin Long.
For exhibit A, check out the attached clip of a chat I had with Long about “Drag Me to Hell,” the awesome Sam Raimi thriller that hits DVD this week. During our conversation, he brought up a rude, crude, new game that might soon sweep the nation.
“I’ve been playing this movie game, it’s called Poovie,” the Mac pitchman and movie star said with a grin. “I’ll introduce it to you.” Read more...
He'll always be best known for representing a Mac in Apple commercials, but Justin Long continues to branch out with his acting career. After a decade of playing fairly light roles in comedies and horror films, not to mention a prominent breakout part in "Live Free or Die Hard," he will be getting his first serious, dramatic supporting role in Robert Redford's Lincoln assassination movie, "The Conspirator," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Long joins James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn for the historical drama about Mary Surratt (Wright Penn), the sole woman allegedly involved in the plot to kill the president. McAvoy plays a disfigured Civil War hero who comes to her defense, while Long will play his best friend and fellow soldier who also assists as McAvoy's conscience. Read more...
I’ve been hurting. Probably my two favorite comedies on TV—“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”—have been on hiatus far too long, and there’s only so many times you can re-watch episodes before your neighbors, behind thin NYC apartment walls, begin to complain. But! Larry David's “Curb” is coming back to HBO in the fall, after a two-year break. And now comes word that “Sunny,” the debaucherous comedy about four friends who run a dive bar in Philly and make one another’s lives hilariously uncomfortable, will be resurfacing on F/X on September 17th for a 12-episode run.
While Charlie Day, along with his fellow writer/producer/co-stars Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton are still in the midst of shooting episodes, Day stepped away from the set to kick MTV News the inside scoop about what “Sunny” fans can expect when the gang—including Danny DeVito's bundle of scummy fun, Frank—returns to the small screen.
“One of my favorite scripts right now is an episode called ‘The Gang Wrestles for the Troops,’” he said. “In our attempt to honor the troops coming back from Iraq, we try and put on a wrestling match and ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper is appearing in that. He’s playing a down on his luck wrestler called Da Maniac.” Read more...
Ever since we broke the news that the sequel to the smash flick “Alvin and the Chipmunks” would be introducing the Chipettes, we’ve been working to uncover the top-secret identities of the girlfriend trio that will make sweet music alongside Alvin, Simon and Theodore. Recently, Justin Long revealed to us that two of the gals will be voiced by Anna Faris and Christina Applegate. Now, we finally know the identity of that mysterious third Chipette.
Number three is Amy Poehler, as revealed to us by “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” star Zachary Levi when we caught up with him on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. Read more...
Attending the MTV Movie Awards is no simple task, so when it came to snagging some advice for the journey, nothing helps more than to look to the past. That was the case when our guest host Lo Bosworth, from "The Hills," sat down with "Drag Me To Hell" star Justin Long, a past Movie Awards presenter.
So what was Justin's advice for navigating the waters? Let's just say it vaguely involves food. For more from Lo's interview with Justin, click here. The Movie Awards air LIVE this Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, with host Andy Samberg.
When we first broke the news back in January 2008 that the follow-up to the smash film “Alvin and The Chipmunks” would feature the Chipettes, hundreds of fans weighed in with their eagerness to see Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor. In the months since, rumors have run amok with various female names who could be providing their high-pitched voices, including Miley Cyrus, Joanna “JoJo” Levesque and Drew Barrymore.
Yesterday, we caught up with Alvin himself: Mr. Justin Long. And he gave us some big news on two of the famous females who’ll be loaning their vocal talents to the December follow-up. Read more...

Just when they stopped being tabloid fodder, Drew Barrymore and Justin Long are pairing up again onscreen for some clumsy romance. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the on and off again couple has signed on to "Going the Distance," a romantic comedy from New Line. Nanette Burstein ("American Teen") will direct from a script penned by first time writer Geoff LaTulippe.
The story revolves around a couple who encounters difficulties while trying to maintain a long distance relationship. Barrymore plays a middle school teacher who moves to Chicago for a job, and Long plays a script reader who (we're guessing) resides in L.A. They quickly discover that "going the distance" may cost them everything, and destroy their relationship. Read more...
There must be a rule that if you star on an NBC comedy, you have to play second-fiddle to CG chipmunks -- or maybe it's a rule that if Jason Lee does it, every guy should. One or the other has Zachary Levi ("Chuck") joining Lee and Cameron Richardson in "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel." The sequel will be directed by Betty Thomas, who replaced Tim Hill in December.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levi will play cousin of Lee's character, Dave, who somehow gets tangled up in singing chipmunk hijinks. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney return to act as the chipmunks' voices. Read more...
Hey there, horror fans -- Sam Raimi hasn't forgotten about you. Sure, it's been more than a decade since the "Spider-Man" director has gone behind the camera for a low-budget horror flick (1992's "Army of Darkness" was his last go-round with the genre), but he's hoping to make up for that absence next year with "Drag Me To Hell."
Over at the MTV Movies mothership, the "Evil Dead" director chats us up about his return to the scare scene, and why he couldn't stay away. Read more...
