Oscars

Thank goodness for Funny or Die. The comedy website teamed up with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this year to create the funniest trailer we've seen for the Oscars as far back as we can remember.

While we aren't so sure Josh Duhamel and Megan Fox are actually the two people the Academy would turn to in a time of need, they certainly sell their roles here. It's their task to go find "The Host" -- aka Billy Crystal -- and convince him to host this year's Oscars. Along the way they get ordered around by William Fichtner, receive some clues from Vinnie Jones and get a ride in a barge from Robin Williams. Because why not.

Shia LaBeouf and "Transformers" director Michael Bay are "like brothers," according to the actor himself. But what's Bay's relationship like with his newest leading lady, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley?

We put that very question not just to Rosie but also to her "Dark of the Moon" co-stars when we met up with them on the red carpet at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. If you were expecting to hear some juicy gossip about friction between the two, however, prepare to be disappointed: Rosie says that Bay's work ethic was very much in line with her own.

"I met Michael Bay back in 2009 on a Victoria's Secret commercial, and we've always gotten along," she said. "The guy has a great sense of humor, he has a really tough work ethic, which I do. He works really hard, and he expects his team and his cast to be professional and work hard. That's been my work ethic all along, so we get along fine."

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was already poised to become one of the summer's biggest releases in a sea filled with blockbusters, and to give it even more of an advantage, Michael Bay is bringing the mayhem your way a little bit early.

Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the third installment of the "Transformers" series will now debut on June 29 instead of its originally targeted July 1 release date. Just a few days early, sure, but we'll take the robot-smashing action as soon as we can get it!

In addition to the news of the film's new release date, Paramount has also unleashed a new clip from "Dark of the Moon." Watch it in the video above and read all about it past the jump.

Transformers"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is headed towards us on July 1, and Michael Bay doesn't want you to forget what you have to look forward to.

Three new photos (two from Spoiler TV, one from Collider) have surfaced from the upcoming movie, and they highlight the big, blockbuster action spectacle that the latest "Transformers" flick is sure to be. The one important thing they are sorely missing, though, are some big, transforming machines, but there's plenty of other hidden nuggets of fun inside the stills.

(Hint: we might have spoken too soon about there not being any transformers. See what we mean after the jump!)

We might not have an official title yet, but rest assured that work on the third "Transformers" movie is moving right along. It better be, with July 1, 2011 as the date it is set for release by Paramount. Shooting hasn't started yet, but MTV's Larry Carroll learned from star Josh Duhamel at ShoWest last week that the script is now finished.

"I just read it yesterday," he said. Interesting. Maybe we can get some details? "I can't tell you." No shock there. Duhamel likes what he read though. "After reading it I was really pleasantly surprised and happy, and I think that they did a great job." Read more...

Is this the week that "Avatar" falls? I'm guessing no, but stranger things have happened. For six straight weeks, James Cameron's sci-fi marvel has captivated viewers with its entertaining story and impressive underlying 3-D tech. The movie is all but guaranteed to crush the all-time box office records held by "Titanic," Cameron's last feature, since 1997. Even if another #1 weekend isn't in the cards, those records are pretty much toast.

The closest competition "Avatar" has is "Edge of Darkness," which threatens to draw some of the Cameron crowd away purely for being the only new, R-rated release this week with fanperson-friendly subject matter. Mel Gibson stars as a homicide detective who uncovers evidence of corporate and government corruption in the course of a murder investigation. Read more...

There is something to be said for Hollywood's practice of naming movies after popular songs, because I'm psyched about a new project titled "Sympathy for the Devil," solely on the basis of the fact that I'm a Rolling Stones fan. Never mind that it has nothing to do with the band, nor is it a first-person tale of Satan's influence on history, but I'm still at least partly sold on the name alone. And also partly because it involves Samuel L. Jackson dealing with motherf---ing demons in his motherf---ing city.

Latino Review received exclusive details about "Sympathy" directly from film company IM Global Octane ("Paranormal Activity"). Currently in pre-production, the movie will star Jackson and Josh Duhamel ("Transformers") as New Orleans lawyers caught in a battle between Heaven and Hell -- specifically warrior angels and demons. The full synopsis claims that the film, which mixes "'Angel Heart,' 'Pulp Fiction' and 'The Omen,'" is "sure to be controversial." Read more...
