Whether it's because he's always screaming at Spider-Man, because he's terrorizing prison inmates or because he's offering fatherly advice to his troubled teen mom daughter, it's likely that you're at least passingly familiar with J.K. Simmons, one of the great character actors of our time.
Simmons — who counts the "Spider-Man" franchise, "Oz" and "Juno" as some of his most prominent appearances to date — is typically relegated to supporting character status, but he's a full-fledged leading man in "The Music Never Stopped," director Jim Kohlberg's drama about a father (Simmons) who tries to bond with his son Gabriel (Lou Taylor Pucci), a young man suffering from a brain tumor that prevents him from developing new memories.
It's a touching tale about the highs and lows of family life, beautifully tempered by the smooth sounds of the Grateful Dead and other musicians. In this exclusive clip from the movie, Simmons and Pucci's characters find themselves in the midst of a Dead concert, enjoying a heartfelt rendition of "Touch of Grey."
