We recently brought you news about "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood headlining a remake of William Lustig's sleazy horror classic, "Maniac." It did seem strange that the sweet and gentle Frodo would be playing a perverse psychopath hunting women in his spare time, but we were — dare we say — kind of excited to see how he'd pull it off.

Alexandre Aja ("Piranha," "Haute Tension") is producing the remake that finds Wood as a creepy killer working at an antique mannequin shop (of course). He hunts for his victims through the Internet, and like the original character Frank, has massive mommy issues. The Daily Mail grabbed some stabby snaps of the actor in action (his victim is played by Genevieve Alexandra), so click on over to see Wood get his "Maniac" on.

Kurt RussellQuentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" is getting a bit of a casting make-over.

First up, Kurt Russell is reuniting with his "Death Proof" director in the upcoming film. He'll be replacing Kevin Costner as the psychotic Ace Woody, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Also reuniting with the director is "Kill Bill's" Laura Cayouette, who THR reports will be playing Leonardo DiCaprio's widowed sister.

In related news, THR has learned that Christoph Waltz injured his pelvis during training for "Django Unchained," and that's why he was unable to attend the New York premiere of "Carnage" on Friday.

Catwoman's suit in "The Dark Knight Rises" might not look like much on the surface, but apparently it has a violent streak.

The images of Anne Hathaway that hit the web last week showed her riding an all-terrain bike down a set of stairs, and according to reports things went a bit awry during the stunt. When Hathaway's stunt double was performing that scene, the bike ended up running into one of the production's IMAX cameras. Apparently neither the camera nor the cameraman were injured in the crash, but we're hoping that wasn't the extra 90 percent Hathaway was talking about in her recent MTV interview:

Bruce Campbell"Oz: The Great And Powerful" just got a heck of a lot more exciting now that Bruce Campbell has announced he's been cast in it.

"I. Am. In. Oz. Sam Raimi refuses to tell me what character I will portray. Just know that the role is PIVOTAL," the "Burn Notice" actor tweeted. Considering James Franco has already been cast as the titular wizard-to-be and Campbell likely isn't playing one of the female witches, our guess is he plays some sort of mentor to Oz. Or we could be totally surprised and he'll end up playing a Munchkin or flying monkey. Regardless, we're thrilled by this casting news.

Captain JackThe tides are about to get stranger for Johnny Depp.

The Wrap reports that Depp is "close to a deal" for a fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean," surprising... well, nobody. We can hardly imagine what shenanigans Captain Jack Sparrow will get into this time, but we're sure the masterminds at Disney have something clever up their sleeves.

In the news after the jump, some major comedians check in to "Hotel Transylvania," a "Zombieland" star thinks the sequel won't ever happen and a brilliant moviemaker signs Christopher Walken on as Zeus.

"We're not terrorists!"

So promised Nick Swardson on the set of "30 Minutes or Less," as he and costar Danny McBride attempted to explain what they were doing, just minutes earlier, in a junk yard in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a crossbow in one of their hands and a detonator in another. Take after take, they blew up watermelons with some homebrewed explosives and yelled f-bomb-laden tough talk.

No, terrorists they are not — just misguided fellows with an outlandish idea: kidnap a pizza delivery boy, strap a bomb to his chest and make him rob a bank. And that, in an action-comedy nutshell, is the plot of "30 Minutes," the Ruben Fleischer-directed flick that hits theaters on August 12.

"They're against terrorists. I mean, would you invite these guys over to your house with your family? Probably not," McBride explained. "They just want to be loved. Whether it takes a bomb or bank robbery to get there."

While Jesse Eisenberg might be the odd comedian out of the "30 Minutes Or Less" cast, his co-stars and director told MTV News during Sneak Peek Week that he definitely wasn't left in the dust during their quick-fire improvisations.

"Jesse, to his credit, is a great improviser," said director Ruben Fleischer. "Both in 'Zombieland' and in this movie, he is responsible for so many funny lines, and he can kind of roll. I don’t think that’s his most comfortable gear, but when it's pushed up, he can give back as good as anybody."

Co-stars Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson, both well-known for their stand-up routines, were both equally impressed with Eisenberg's ability to roll with the punches.

Aziz Ansari has delivered brilliant one-liners, barbs and tomfoolery in small supporting roles in movies like "Get Him to the Greek" (2010), "Funny People" (2009) and "I Love You, Man" (2009). But "30 Seconds or Less" sticks the 28 year-old South Carolina-born standup comic in multiple scenes, providing a welcome expansion of the "Parks and Recreation" star's movie screen-time.

Speaking with MTV News at a Q&A following a Sneak Peek Week screening of "30 Seconds or Less" (which costars Jesse Eisenburg, Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) at Los Angeles' Pacific Design Center, last year's MTV Movie Awards host told us about the pressures of tackling a leading role.

"I had to shoot a lot more since I was in the movie more," he pointed out. "It was a lot of work."
