Mavis Gary, Charlize Theron's character in the upcoming comedy "Young Adult," isn't the nicest person you'll ever meet. In fact, she won't even try that hard to convince you otherwise.

In this new exclusive clip from the Jason Reitman film, Mavis, a successful author of YA novels, has traveled to her hometown to win back her high school sweetheart, when she meets Matt Freehauf, played by Patton Oswalt, in a bar.

What in the world could J.K. Rowling's Pottermore possibly be?! We'll have to wait five more days to find out for sure, but for now, some new clues have emerged -- and it looks like some of our hunches hold some weight.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the Pottermore trademark was registered by Warner Bros. two years ago as a service that provides "multiple-user access to a global computer information network, [...] on-line chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among users in the field of general interest [and] on-line facilities for real-time interaction with other computer users concerning topics of general interest." So, it sounds like it is an interactive social networking experience, perhaps one that does include new stories and an MMORPG of sorts. Nothing definitive yet, sadly, but we're closer to cracking the code!

Alright, enough Pottermore (for now, not forever). Let's take a look at what else is popping around the movies blogosphere after the jump!

Hugh JackmanMove over Liam Neeson, because Hugh Jackman is slated to be the next man to bring Jean Valjean to the big screen.

Universal and "The King's Speech" director Tom Hooper are planning on making a musical adaptation of "Les Miserables," and they're squared away on wanting Jackman to play Prisoner 24601. Deadline also reports that Paul Bettany is the top choice to play Javert, the police officer desperate to capture Jean Valjean.

Josh Brolin loves himself some "Goonies." Just yesterday I reported that he told MTV's Josh Horowitz about the now-finished Steven Spielberg-directed, Aaron Sorkin-scripted "Goonies 2." Now he's talking about "Goonies 3"?!?! Clearly we live in bizarro world. First though, he puts to rest a rumor that he'll have a role in Jason Reitman's upcoming reunion with "Juno" writer Diablo Cody, "Young Adult."

"Not true," Brolin said of the rumor. "No. He and I may do something else. I think that's where the wires crossed. He was very apologetic [after the rumor cropped up]. But I did read [the script] and thought it was great. I think Charlize [Theron] is going to be amazing." Read more...

So it turns out Tinsel Korey wasn't the only Twitter-Wood resident sporting love for the Vancouver Canucks during their Stanley Cup playoff face-off against the L.A. Kings. Jason Reitman was celebrating the series' end as well last night on Twitter.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was also in high spirits today, mostly thanks to Hugh Hefner, who came in at the last minute with a giant donation to save the land around California's iconic Hollywood sign. Then there was Edgar Wright, who hopes to be happy after he sees "Iron Man 2," but for now he just sounds a bit anxious. Check out those tweets, as well as Malcolm Ingram's micro-review of Kevin Smith's "Hit Somebody" script and Dane Cook's dreams of collaborating with Jim Carrey in Twitter-Wood for April 26, 2010. Today is April 1, aka April Fools Day, the most headache-inducing news day of the year for Internet-based writers. There are pranks everywhere today; if you're not careful, you'll step in one, convince yourself it's a dream come true and then have your hopes dashed away by the cold, harsh light of reality and clearheaded thinking.

I was duped earlier, with the "news" that In-N-Out Burger was finally coming to New York City. I don't eat fast food anymore, but concessions would be made for In-N-Out. Alas, it was all just a sick practical joke. Whoever thought it up can burn in hell. Clever f--k.

Anyway, the movie reporting blogosphere hasn't been spared from hoaxes and hijinx either. There are quite a few running around today. I've earmarked some for closer examination, and you can find them after the jump. Read more...

A minor Twit-pocalypse broke out yesterday when LeVar Burton accidentally posted his phone number to his account. It sounds like he had to get his number changed thanks to all of the incoming calls, but luckily for him, his old "Star Trek: The Next Generation" co-stars Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner were around to lend moral support.

Judging from the Twitter-Wood feed, everyone who wasn't calling LeVar was at the Hollywood Bowl to see Paul McCartney, and a few posted pictures from the event. Click on past the jump and you can see who was there, as well as what Damon Lindelof thought about "Lost" this week, what Tom Hanks looks like during location scouting and what Richard Kelly thinks of the iPad. It's all in Twitter-Wood for March 31st, 2010. Read more...

"Twilight" watchers now have their pitch for which contestant to support in the "American Idol" finals. Apparently Didi Benami and actress Rachelle LeFevre go way back. LeFevre had a lot of vocal support when Bryce Dallas Howard replaced her as Victoria for "Eclipse," so it may be interesting to see if her followers are also impressionable "Idol" voters.

Heated though it may be, "American Idol" competition has had to go head-to-head with Winter Olympics competition this week, and Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn were on everyone's tweets last night. After the jump, you can check out who was watching, as well as who remains suspicious of Kevin Smith, who touched Rebecca Gayheart's baby and who's been hanging out on the set of "Thor." It's all in Twitter-Wood for February 18, 2010. Read more...

Today's Twitter-Wood came under duress, as TwitPic.com was down for a while, and I wasn't sure where the Twitter Pic of the Day was going to come from. Luckily, everything worked out and I didn't have to make a blind decision. That means I've fully vetted today's shot of John Travolta at the opening for "From Paris With Love," Jason Reitman's view of Oprah's birthday celebration and Jackie Earle Haley's photo opp at Golden Ear Park.

The feed also brought a status update from Kevin Smith on his film "Hit Somebody," which is based on one of my all-time favorite Warren Zevon songs, a few more thoughts on J.D. Salinger's passing and a pre-date dilemma from Diablo Cody. Check it all out and find out who was backstage at the Grammy Awards yesterday in Twitter-Wood for January 29, 2010. Read more...
