Django Unchained Tarantino

Waiting for a movie you're highly anticipating can be hard, but it can be tortuous when it's Quentin Tarantino's so-called southern, "Django Unchained." With little else known about the film besides its plot and cast, even the smallest scoop of non-news becomes an essential story.

The LA Times recently posted a story about movie ranches in Santa Clarita, California. The area has recently seen a uptick in productions, one of which is "Django." The writer visited one of the sets during a filming day and got quick throwaway quote from Tarantino himself.

"It's a blast shooting here," Tarantino said in a break from shooting. "Most other western towns look like dollhouses. This has the complete look. It’s fantastic."

Jamie Foxx"Django Unchained" has finally found its leading man, and it isn't Will Smith.

Jamie Foxx has landed the lead role in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Western, Deadline reports, joining a cast that (supposedly) includes Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson. It's Foxx's first Tarantino film, and judging by his ability to poke fun at himself in recent years (we're looking at you, "Horrible Bosses"), it actually sounds like a really good match.

After the jump, find out the latest actress contemplating starring in "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies," who is joining the cast of "Lone Ranger" and the role Warren Beatty will be playing in his return to film.

Sam WorthingtonWe already know that Sam Worthington and James Cameron are heading back to Pandora for two more "Avatar" movies, but that won't necessarily be the last — or even the first — sci-fi collaboration between the two of these talents.

The Hollywood Reporter informs us that Cameron, Worthington, "Transformers" producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and writer Will Staples are teaming together to create "Myth," a project that has no further details beyond the fact that "it's big, it's sci-fi, and it's got lots of action." Cameron is not expected to direct, and at this point, it's even unclear that Worthington will star in the film — though one can certainly hope!

Though Worthington's casting in "Myth" remains unconfirmed, there's plenty of other new cast additions going on in Hollywood today. Check them all out past the jump!

Leonardo DiCaprioHe nearly starred in "Inglourious Basterds" as the vicious Hans Landa, and now, Leonardo DiCaprio is getting another crack at Quentin Tarantino's signature brand of gory glory.

Deadline reports that DiCaprio is in early talks to star as villainous plantation owner Calvin Candie in "Django Unchained," Tarantino's upcoming Western that also features a role for Christoph Waltz. His casting is considered a likelier bet than Will Smith's, who is frequently mentioned as a top contender for the title role. Now, Deadline is hearing names like Idris Elba, Jamie Foxx and Chris Tucker as possibilities for the coveted role of Django.

If the cast didn't already convince you that "Horrible Bosses" is the film for you, its first trailer might.

Comic leads are Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day, which in and of itself is a giant step in the right direction ("Arrested Development" meets "Saturday Night Live" meets "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"), but the supporting cast includes Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Donald Sutherland, Julie Bowen and Isaiah Mustafa. As if that wasn't enough, the flick looks outright hilarious.

The Internet's been abuzz today over the revelation that a poster exists for upcoming video game adaptation "Kane & Lynch" on Nu Image's website. It's a slick poster, very simple and stylized. You only see the two stars in silhouette, but Bruce Willis' and Jamie Foxx's names are both listed. We haven't heard a whole lot about the movie yet, but the poster confirms that it really is happening. Which is pretty damn cool.

The first game was... problematic... but the idea was right and the story was actually more well-developed than is typical for a video game. If the gameplay had been stronger, it could've been a real hit. Fortunately for the movie, gameplay isn't an issue at all. Presuming they work with the story laid out in the first game, "Kane & Lynch" could be a fun 2011 action romp, especially with Willis and Foxx headlining it. Hit the jump for a full-size version of the poster. Read more...

Here's a brief bit of... interesting news. "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" wasn't the best of video games, but it nonetheless delivered an intriguing tale of two anti-hero criminals, one of them a death row-convicted killer of 25 and the other, a crazed sociopath who suffers from psychotic blackouts and hallucinations.

Whatever you may think of the game, the story is ripe for a film adaptation. Which is actually happening, at Lionsgate, with newcomer Kyle Ward writing a script. Bruce Willis was confirmed by producer Adrian Askarieh for the role of Kane and now an unlikely bit of casting news has emerged for the role of Lynch: Jamie Foxx. Read more...

"Cop Out" hits theaters today, the first high-profile example of a buddy cop movie that we've seen in quite some time. What good timing then that we learn of another mixed race law enforcement pairing that's currently in the offing.

The word from Pajiba tipster Hollywood Cog is that Ashton Kutcher and Jamie Foxx will team up to keep their city safe in buddy cop "action-comedy-drama" flick, "Streets on Fire." It seems that nothing is confirmed yet, beyond the fact that Kutcher's Katalyst Films will produce. The "Punk'd" star is eying the lead and Foxx for his co-lead. Read more...

Yesterday, I saw a lot of people calling for Jamie Foxx's Oscar to be revoked following the announcement that he and Martin Lawrence are confirmed for "Sheneneh and Wanda," a comedy in which the duo will play female bank robbers. Both roles are based on earlier cross-dressed characters from the actors' TV days (Lawrence's Sheneneh is from "Martin" and Foxx's Wanda is from "In Living Color"). Foxx, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2004 for "Ray" (he was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor that same year for "Collateral), returning to this drag shtick seems like a huge step backward to a lot of people.

"Seems" is the key word here, though, because it doesn't have to be a regression. Plenty of Oscar-caliber actors have cross-dressed before and since being nominated and/or winning an Academy Award, and plenty of performers have won for dressing like the opposite sex. I've selected a few standouts of the bunch below. Click the image at the top of the post to be whisked off to our Cross-Dressing Oscar Winners flipbook gallery. Read more...

Wasn’t “The Soloist” hilarious? Remember all those crazy scenes of Robert Downey Jr. spilling urine on himself, and Jamie Foxx acting like he might be insane? Ah, good times, good times.

Oh wait, “Soloist” was a drama? Well, now that you mention it, maybe I shouldn’t have been laughing so much. Either way, the good news is that Foxx and Downey Jr. are reuniting for a real comedy from the director of “The Hangover.” And this time, I’m pretty sure it’ll be okay to laugh.

“Yeah, it’s called ‘Due Date,’” Jamie Foxx said of the film, issuing some high praise for director Todd Phillips, who also made “Old School” a frat-house classic. “He is the funniest guy in the world.” Read more...
