Bond

There are only 296-some days until the release of "Skyfall," the newest James Bond movie. That's what you're greeted with upon entering the new 007.com, which just relaunched in anticipation of the Bond franchise's imminent revival. We've had half a century of Bond, in case you forgot -- he's older than The Beatles, older than Michael Jordan. Almost as old as President Obama!

Hey, if he ain't broke, why cast another Bond?

Producer Michael G. Wilson wants to take that position when it comes to Daniel Craig as the legendary super spy. In a recent interview with People UK, Wilson revealed that he hopes to keep the latest Bond around for a record-breaking eight movies. With Craig currently filming his third Bond movie, "Skyfall," that would mean five more movies to break the record set by Roger Moore.

Skyfall

After "Casino Royale" so capably rejuvenated the Bond franchise, "Quantum of Solace" was a bit of a letdown. Heavy on intended gravitas and jumbled action collages, the sequel didn't quite deliver with audiences or critics, leading to a temporary hiatus for 007.

But have no fear: Daniel Craig, still the capable British killer, promises that "Skyfall" will be a lot better.

Skyfall

It didn't take long after last week's big press conference announcing the title and start of production of "Skyfall," the new James Bond film starring Daniel Craig, for even more news to start trickling in. Yesterday, the official Twitter feed for the superspy (@007) released the first official picture from the set: a non-earth-shattering snap of a clapperboard.

Now, the production adds two more actresses to the already star-studded cast. Helen McCrory, perhaps better known as the villainous mother Narcissa Malfoy from the "Harry Potter" films, and Ola Repace, a Swedish actress, have joined the cast that includes Craig, Dame Judi Dench, Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris.

James BondDaniel Craig's return as James Bond is here a bit earlier than expected, and certainly in a fashion that none of us were anticipating.

Although the British actor is set to put on the iconic tuxedo once again for the currently untitled "James Bond 23," Craig is already back in Bond mode in a new two-minute video clip where the womanizing spy endorses International Woman's Day — by going undercover as a woman.

See Craig turn his license to kill into a license to dress in drag past the jump!

Contrary to some earlier rumors, Kevin Spacey won't be appearing as a villain in the "James Bond" franchise's next installment — but that doesn't mean he won't pop up eventually.

Speaking with MTV News on the red carpet at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, the two-time Oscar winner recalled the story about his near-brush with "Bond," a rumor that actually does have some truth to it.

"Actually, what happened is, I was never asked to do it," he revealed. "I was never offered it. Someone asked me if I'd like to do it, and I said I would have loved to do it, but I don't think I could have even been considered because I'm doing 'Richard III' at the same time that Sam is [shooting 'Bond 23']."

Ralph FiennesJavier Bardem has confirmed that he's in the crosshairs for "James Bond 23," though he hasn't officially accepted or rejected the nemesis role that Sam Mendes wants him to play. But he's admitted that he's intrigued, and we can understand why — according to a new report, some big names are lining up for Agent 007's next adventure.

The Daily Mail reports that Voldemort himself, Oscar-winning actor Ralph Fiennes, has been offered a role in "Bond 23." The actor's representatives are allegedly in discussions with Mendes and producers about locking Fiennes into "a darkly complex role."

Eva GreenIt's a pretty good gig to be a Bond girl. Not only does it mean that you're a certified hottie in the eyes of, well, everyone to ever watch a James Bond film (plus anyone prowling the Internet), it also means that you're guaranteed a good shot at being hot arm candy in future films at the very least.

The Bond films usually go for models or hot unknowns to bring to the forefront as the femme fatales and potential love interests for the rakish Mr. Bond, whoever he may be at any given point in time. Halle Berry is an exception to this rule because she was a big star coming in to "Die Another Day," but most of Bond's loveliest ladies started off as nobodies before setting off on pretty decent career trajectories.

Case in point: Eva Green, who starred in "Casino Royale" opposite Daniel Craig, is just the latest former Bond girl to land an awesome move role after her stint in a Bond film. In her case it's as a potential love interest opposite Johnny Depp in the long anticipated big screen adaptation of "Dark Shadows." According to Deadline, she'll play a witch named Angelique who has a love/hate relationship with Depp's Barnabas Collins. We'll look at some other famous Bond girls-turned-film stars after the jump.

Javier BardemWell, this is very good news indeed: Javier Bardem, previously rumored for an unspecified starring role in the untitled "James Bond 23," has confirmed that he's been approached for the film… and he's intrigued.

The Los Angeles Times sat down for a chat with the "Biutiful" actor and covered the recent "Bond" news, with Bardem admitting that an offer has been made. Though he won't accept or reject the role until he's read the screenplay, Bardem confessed that the opportunity to join Bond's wide world of espionage and intrigue is more than a little bit appealing.

"I'm a huge fan of the James Bond saga," said the actor. "When I was little, I went watching Mr. Connery doing James Bond with my father. Who in the world would think I'd be in one of those movies?" Read More...
