I love my Nightmares. Not actual nightmares mind you—those ruin sleeping pants—but my personal collection of "Nightmare on Elm Street" films. I'm a huge fan of the franchise, so when I originally heard about the then-upcoming re-imagining of the first "Nightmare on Elm Street," Freddy started haunting my waking hours. The movie finally hit theaters this past weekend and I was there opening night, ready to enter dreamland once more. I left knowing one thing for sure: I want a sequel! The new movie certainly has its issues, but the potential for greatness is there.

Thankfully, my dreams are coming true. Warner Bros. announced plans for a sequel after the new "Nightmare" slashed its way to the top of the box office, bringing in the biggest horror opening for the April-May corridor. You may not be able to tell, but that there is Jackie Earl Haley, "Watchmen"'s Rorschach and "A Nightmare on Elm Street"'s Freddy Krueger. Weird roles for a weird dude. Look at him. He won't even pose for the camera. Still, this is a more revealing image than we've gotten for his Freddy Krueger.

Jackie Earl HaleyOne, two, Freddy’s coming for you… three, four, will there be more gore?

The remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street” has just finished filming in Chicago. While we have to wait until next April to actually see the movie, Patrick Goldstein at Los Angeles Times blog The Big Picture has an early preview of the franchise reboot. There’s not much in the way of details, not even a look at the new Freddy Krueger (played by “Watchmen” actor Jackie Earle Haley). Instead, Goldstein focuses on the talent involved, including music video director Sam Bayer (“Smells Like Teen Spirit”), and addresses the difference in budget between this remake and the 1984 original.
