Not unlike Jake Gyllenhaal in "Source Code," you can relive the first five minutes of Duncan Jones' new film over and over again.

Yahoo Movies got the first look at "Source Code," the trippy sci-fi thriller that forces leading man Gyllenhaal to relive the last eight minutes of another man's life to try to stop a threat that will kill millions of people in downtown Chicago. Needless to say, these first minutes of the movie end with a bang.

There's more news out there today beyond "Source Code." After the jump, find out what the hold up is on "Ghostbusters III," which cast members are returning for "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" and what the Westboro Baptist Church thought of "Red State."

If you've been reading this blog for some amount of time, then you've probably read my raving excitement for "Ghostbusters III." I've been following the development of this long-awaited sequel very closely. "The Office" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky ("Year One") have a script due in May for the 2011 release, the original 'Busters are said to be returning and Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two movies, will be back to direct the third. Or so we thought.

Apparently, Sony would like to pull a "Spider-Man" with "Ghostbusters," bringing in a young, hip director to -- you guessed it -- reboot the franchise for a new generation, Vulture reports. It's common knowledge that the plan has been to have the focus of the coming sequel be on a sort of "new class" of 'Busters, with the original guys -- Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson -- on hand to pass their torch along. So the real surprise here is the Reitman hesitation. And since Reitman, along with Aykroyd, Ramis and Murray, has significant amount of creative control over the franchise, an impasse between the two groups could conceivably lead to the death of "Ghostbusters III." A few weeks ago, "Ghostbusters" writer and star Harold Ramis revealed that the long-awaited third movie in the series is planned for a 2011 release. This news broke only a short time after "Avatar" star Sigourney Weaver speculated that Bill Murray's character Pete Venkman might appear in the movie as a slimer ghost, and that Oscar, her character's son from the second movie, would be a full-fledged Ghostbuster.

Ivan Reitman, director and producer of the first two movies, stopped to chat with MTV's Josh Horowitz last night on the National Board of Review red carpet in New York City. He shied away from addressing Weaver's spoiler-y speculation, but he did have some things to say about the general state of development for "Ghostbusters III."

Reitman said that the script from "Year One" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is in and that a second draft is currently in the works. He also confirmed that he will indeed be returning to direct the coming sequel, as had been previously speculated. Read More...

I suppose you'll want to ingest this news with a few grains of salt, but Bloody Disgusting has a good track record for getting this stuff right. The great news this morning is that "Ghostbusters 3" is that "Ghostbusters" and "Ghostbusters II" director Ivan Reitman is "straight up confirmed, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt" attached to the coming sequel. He apparently hasn't decided if he's going to direct just yet -- Reitman has been relatively quiet since 2006's "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" -- but any "Ghostbusters"/Reitman pairing is certainly welcome.

To be fair, Reitman told MTV back in June that he'd been talking to Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd about "Ghostbusters 3" , essentially confirming his involvement in the project. Wait though! There's more! BD also unearthed the faint whiff of a plot detail. It's not much, but it's definitely enough to fill in a little more of that picture. And since there's no start date for the production, no casting announcements, no tentative release date... we fans will take what we can get. Read More...

Harold RamisAt this weekend's "Year One" press junket, MTV's Josh Horowitz got to spend some quality time with the always-affable writer/director/ghosbuster Harold Ramis. As most of you probably know, "Ghostbusters 3" has been on the lips of Ramis and his cohort Dan Aykroyd for quite some time.

First they were calling the video game, which releases this week(!), the "official" third "Ghostbusters" movie. Then things went a step further, with the revelation that "Year One" co-writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are in fact working on the script for a third movie. Read More...

GhostbustersEven as the first two "Ghostbusters" films get polished up to reappear in stores on Blu-ray on June 16, the films' creators are busy deciding what the long rumored sequel will look like -- even director and producer Ivan Reitman, who may still opt to reclaim both roles when the film begins production as early as this winter. Dan Aykroyd has named Harold Ramis as his favorite to replace Reitman if his schedule is too busy, but "Ghostbusters 3" could earn priority with the original director if the script is right.

"I’ve never ruled [directing it] out," Reitman told MTV News. "I certainly was responsible in every capacity for the first two movies so I certainly wouldn't wander away from the third one—especially if it's something we all think is worth doing." Read More...
