FROM SPLASH PAGE: Way back in May, we gave actor Sam Rockwell one of his first looks at Justin Hammer, his "Iron Man 2" character, when we gave him an issue of the comic book during an interview that occurred a few months after he was cast in the blockbuster sequel. When MTV Movies Editor Josh Horowitz recently sat down with Rockwell, he was able to offer us a bit more info about his character—specifically, his relationship with Don Cheadle's character, James "Rhodey" Rhodes.

He also revealed what sort of research he did after that earlier meeting and where he drew his inspiration for Tony Stark's rival.

"I got some research—they sent me over some stuff," Rockwell told MTV News. "I looked it over and that was about it."

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Yesterday, we brought you an update from Don Cheadle about his experiences in the War Machine armor during "Iron Man 2," but today we a few more, exclusive details to share about the much-anticipated debut of the armor Tony Stark isn't wearing in the film (as far as we know).

When "Iron Man 2" actor Sam Rockwell dropped by Splash Page HQ recently, we asked him about the relationship between his character (rival industrialist Justin Hammer) and Don Cheadle's character (Stark's military buddy James "Rhodey" Rhodes). After all, they seemed pretty chummy in the "Iron Man 2" trailer that premiered during Comic-Con in San Diego this year.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: When we spoke to Stan Lee during this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego, the conversation naturally turned to his cameos in the Marvel movies. One of the industry's living legends, Lee has proudly appeared in just about every movie featuring Marvel characters that's hit the screen.

While Lee wasn't certain he could talk about the cameo at the time, the news appears to have hit the 'Net this weekend—so we're thrilled to finally be able to show this portion of our interview with Stan "The Man" Lee. Excelsior!

"For some reason, they wanted me to wear suspenders and heavy glasses, and they treated me as though I was Larry King," Lee told MTV News of the character he'll play in "Iron Man 2." "So I finally, for the first time in my life, felt like I was a celebrity."

TwilightWell there's certainly a theme in these videos. "Twilight" coverage very nearly sweeps our top San Diego Comic-Con video clips from the past week. Only one mainstream comic book-related property even breaches the top five, and it still falls a couple thousand clicks short of the next highest performing video.

You Twilighters impress me, but you also scare me a little. You showed up in force at a veritable Mecca of geek culture, outdoing a very driven assortment of fan communities with your fervor. Again (let's not forget last year). I'm starting to think that watching "Twilight" may have this "Ring"-like effect on people, and that every day more and more of us are being forcibly inducted into your vampire army. But to what end? You watch these videos while I try to work through your nefarious plans. Read more...

Bryce Dallas HowardThere's an old saying that goes "don't change horses in midstream." Never is this more true than when you're talking about major Hollywood franchises. Rabid fans become comfortable with a long-running series' established mythology, and it's jarring to see a new face operating under a familiar name.

I wonder then what you Twilighters make of today's news, that Bryce Dallas Howard will step in to replace Rachelle Lefevre in the villainous role of Victoria for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse." Lefevre filled the role in both "Twilight" and the upcoming "New Moon." The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the casting switch comes as the result of a scheduling conflict, as Lefevre will join Dustin Hoffman in the soon-to-shoot indie drama "Barney's Version." FROM SPLASH PAGE: With yesterday's announcement that War Machine will make his debut in "Iron Man 2," the question now becomes: how much of a role will the character play in the much-anticipated sequel?

We cornered actor Don Cheadle during an "Iron Man 2" press event to get his take on the character and how much of him we'll see in the Marvel Studios blockbuster.

"War Machine makes a very impactful appearance in the movie," Cheadle told MTV News. "It's significant."

David SladeYou just can't turn your back on the Twitter-Wood feed. I stepped away for a couple of days to leave things in MTV Movies Blog editor Adam Rosenberg's capable hands, and "Eclipse" director David Slade activated a new account. He hit the ground tweeting, too, commenting about notes he just received from Stephenie Meyer about the next "Twilight" film. (Editor's note: Clearly my hands are not terribly capable.)

Meanwhile, Jon Favreau was partying down this weekend, celebrating an end to principal photography for "Iron Man 2." Both directors, as well as two celebrities attending the Inter Milan/Chelsea match at Pasadena's Rose Bowl, an extremely confident Dane Cook and music suggestions from both Rainn Wilson and David Lynch also showed up over the last 24 hours. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter-Wood report for July 20, 2009. Read more...

Samuel L JacksonFROM SPLASH PAGE: Back in early May, we got our first look at Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. Chief Nick Fury on the set of “Iron Man 2,” looking every bit the bad-ass in black leather and eyepatch — or at least, as bad-ass as someone can look when standing next to a giant donut.

Never mind the environment, we said, Nick Fury is sure to be kickin’ butt and taking names alongside Tony Stark in the “Iron Man” sequel, right? Not so, according to Jackson. In fact, when we caught up with the actor during an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of Spike Lee’s film “Do The Right Thing,” Jackson said fans will likely have to wait for “The Avengers” for Fury to see some action.

Mickey RourkeDive in, because I've got behind-the-scenes commentary from Jon Favreau, Ashton Kutcher, and Jeremy Piven in today's handpicked crop of Twitter-Wood tweets. Favreau offers some praise up for Mickey Rourke's work thus far in "Iron Man 2," and Kutcher shares his thoughts on the foreign dubbing process for his new film "Spread," while Piven points out the common links between his new movie "The Goods" and this summer's box office success story "The Hangover."

I also rounded up a few thoughts from film folks about yet another entertainment industry death, comedian and impersonator, Fred Travelena, as well as Bernard Madoff's sentencing today, and Denzel Washington's latest post about Michael Jackson. You find all of these, a picture taken by "Buffy" actress Amber Benson at one of my local Chicago comic book shops, and much more in the Twitter-Wood update for June 29, 2009, after the click. Jon FavreauFarrah Fawcett still has scores of fans both inside and outside of Hollywood, and stars from Emma Roberts to Paris Hilton tweeted condolences today in the Twitter-Wood feed. There were also plenty of Shaq fans busy reacting to the NBA star's trade to Cleveland today, including Jeremy Piven and Danny Masterson.

Meanwhile, an exhausted Jon Favreau proved that a full day filming "Iron Man 2" wasn't enough to dampen his sense of humor, as he tweeted a completely legit shot from the movie's set. Click onward for all of this and yet another celeb reaction to "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" in the Twitter-Wood report for June, 25, 2009. Read more...
