Quentin TarantinoIs there anyone out there in the world who doesn't like a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack? No need to raise your hands; just stop reading and move on to the next post if you're one of those fun-hating mutants. This isn't going to be big news for you.

For the legion of Tarantino fans who are still reading, get excited. Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards," set to hit theaters on August 21, now has an *official* soundtrack. The listing is in French, as it comes to us via an informational PDF posted on the Cannes Film Festival website. I've copied it here and filtered out the extraneous information the best that I could, but the truly curious should proceed directly to the "Inglorious Bastards" press page on the Cannes Film Festival website. Samuel L. Jackson"Pulp Fiction" shot him to superstardom, he had a hilarious-but-intense role in "Jackie Brown," and eagle-eyed fans might have even noticed Samuel J. Jackson behind the piano in a brief "Kill Bill" cameo. So now that Quentin Tarantino has his much-hyped script for "Inglorious Bastards" completed, and half the world has seemingly read it, will he be playing the role of African-American role?

"I called him to find out if I had to learn French or not!" Jackson laughed when we asked him this week, insisting that he'd love to reteam with QT once again. "Because the only black person in the script spoke French." Read more...

Mike MyersA new offering from Quentin Tarantino is still a special event for me. They're few and far between but I can count on one hand the number of filmmakers with the confidence and talent to back it up like QT. The guy doesn't make a wrong move (okay, maybe "Death Proof"?) but I have to say, with each passing casting announcement on "Inglorious Bastards" I shake my head in confusion a little more vigorously.

Variety is reporting that Mike Myers, the Love Guru himself, will be joining Tarantino's WWII ensemble. "Myers will play British Gen. Ed Fenech, a military mastermind who takes part in hatching a plot to wipe out Nazi leaders," writes the trade. Um...okay. I guess if anyone can reign in the master mugger it's Quentin? Right? RIGHT? Britney SpearsBy Gil Kaufman

We already warned you not to get too excited about that report in England's Daily Telegraph on Britney Spears possibly taking the lead in a Quentin Tarantino remake of the trash classic "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" After all, Tarantino himself told MTV at Cannes earlier this year that the rumors were "complete bulls---." Now Access Hollywood has confirmed that the story is nothing but wishful thinking. Read more...

Britney SpearsBy Gil Kaufman

There are a lot of roles we could see Britney Spears playing in remakes of classic movies that should never be remade, like Molly Ringwald's snooty character in "The Breakfast Club" or even the Natalie Wood slot in "Rebel Without a Cause." Some might quibble that Russ Meyer's 1965 cult-classic jiggle-fest "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" is not on par with those cinema icons (though plenty would argue otherwise, including yours truly). But there's a longstanding rumor that just won't go away that says Quentin Tarantino is excited about the prospect of casting Spears in his remake of "Pussycat." Let's just say we're not lining up for tickets just yet. Read more...
