FROM SPLASH PAGE: What do "Batman," "Superman," "Akira," "Hellboy," "The Hulk," "Iron Man," "The Punisher," "Spider-Man," "The Spirit," "Dragonball," "Wanted," "X-Men" and "Watchmen" all have in common? Easy!
It's no secret that the comic-to-movie translation can be hit or miss. On one hand, you have someone like the Punisher — one of the most intense, complex and dark characters ever created in the comic book universe — so you would have thought his story and swagger alone would be enough to make a great action movie with maybe even a good sequel. Apparently not! The movie studios messed up that franchise not once ... not twice ... but three times (once with Dolph Lundgren, then Thomas Jane and most recently with some guy called Ray Stevenson).

It wasn’t the interrogation scene between Batman and the Joker. It wasn’t the superhero beatdown administered by Iron Man when he first tries on his suit. It wasn’t even Indiana Jones swinging through the warehouse.
When MTV set down to record the single best moment of Summer 2008, it wasn’t any of these scenes that had us cheering that made the cut.
It was one that had us singing.
The best scene in “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” was a quiet scene between Hellboy and Abe Sapien where the two sing “Can’t Smile Without You,” drunk as skunks and each a little heartbroken.
In our recent interviews with the cast and crew of the film, we wanted to know: would they join us in a song as well? Read more...
FROM SPLASH PAGE: Guillermo del Toro talks about the “Hellboy” movies being a trilogy – what with the first film being about his birth, the second his teenage choices, and the third about becoming an adult and facing the consequences of those choices. “The third one would be facing your destiny, if such a thing exists, and making the ultimate decision,” del Toro says. Tantalizing, but vague. So we asked “Hellboy” creator Mike Mignola to clarify – what would the final installment be about, besides bouncing Hellboy babies? Turns out, quite a bit. Read More...
Doug Jones wants you to know that he would play a hemorrhoid in a Guillermo del Toro film if asked, that he would follow the visionary "Hellboy" director anywhere he chooses to go. Doug Jones also wants you to know that he hopes that includes "The Hobbit," del Toro's next project. Most of all, though, Doug Jones wants you to know that he isn't officially cast in that movie, that there's nothing on paper, that anything and everything could change, and that to state or otherwise imply otherwise would be premature at best and plain wrong at worst.
And we wouldn't dare go against any of these desires. Except, well, there's one tiny thing more Doug Jones also wants you to know:
"There's been lots of speculation. I wouldn't want to ruin anything. Guillermo creates things with me in mind and he's got a better image of what I can do than I do," the man otherwise known as the Silver Surfer and Abe Sapien told MTV News, a wicked and knowing smile across his face. "However, there might be an elf king, father of Legolas kind of character that I would love." Read more...

We first became enamored with Mezco Toyz back when we covered them during February's Toy Fair, where they showed us their toy lines for "The Spirit" and "Hellboy II: The Golden Army." Unfortunately, back then we weren't allowed to photograph what was probably their coolest offering of all...a massive, highly-detailed 18-inch figure of 'ol sawed-off devil horns himself, Hellboy, ripped from Guillermo del Toro's new movie.
Well, now we can. The company has given us three exclusive photos of the $70 statue, which drops the end of June and comes equipped with the coat, the Samaritan hand gun from the first film, and a new, 6-barrelled shotgun, along with twelve points of articulation.
