Harry PotterWarner Bros. has unofficially confirmed that they will be re-releasing the "Harry Potter" movies on home video in extended form. RopeofSilicon discovered this while looking through the latest MPAA ratings decisions, which included the title “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Extended Version),” listed with a PG rating. Curious, the site contacted WB and found out that there are indeed plans for “special upcoming releases” of the entire series.

Now the question on every Potter fan’s mind is, will these re-releases actually include never-before-seen footage? It's easy to be skeptical, considering that the movies haven’t been filmed in a way that would allow for much to be left on the cutting room floor -- unlike the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, which similarly pilfered extra cash out of fans’ pockets with extended versions that featured more than 30 additional minutes worth of footage in each installment. Harry Potter letterI've been bad, dear readers. You may have noticed in the comments for yesterday's eBay Prop-Watch that someone took issue with my posting of a potentially fake movie prop from one of the "Harry Potter" movies. I did explicitly state that there was no definitive proof of its authenticity, but I also recognize that there's a serious collector's market out there for this kind of thing.

Just to be clear, eBay Prop-Watch is a fun daily feature which is meant to highlight cool movie-related stuff that pops up on eBay. This is not meant to be taken as any sort of "official" source for prop-finding. Still, I feel I owe you all a proper Potter relic now. Harry Potter booksFor yesterday's inaugural eBay Prop-Watch I served up a little piece of film history that was excessive in every way. Today's pick is a lot more affordable, and it earns extra points for being an actual movie prop. Sure there are 6 days left on the auction, but there are also no bids yet and a moderate $50 Buy It Now price.
