'Harry Potter' Vs. 'Twilight': Weighing In On The Debate

If you caught our "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" premiere live stream last week then you've already been introduced to the fact that I am a pretty huge "Harry Potter" fan. I've been reading these books since I was 11 years old and seen each film the weekend it's been released since "Sorcerer's Stone" first hit theaters.

That being said, I've also kept up to date on the "Twilight" franchise, though I didn't get into the books until after "Eclipse" was released. I thought "Breaking Dawn" was a pretty big letdown (so sue me, I thought Edward was going to reclaim his "soul" and return to his human form, allowing him and Bella to live happily ever after without her being changed to a vampire), and I haven't been in love with the movies. So while my "Twilight" knowledge ranks up there with the best of them, I wouldn't say I'm the series' biggest fan. Read More...

The end is upon us, Potterheads: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" is officially in theaters. I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about seeing it (again)! It's been almost 10 years since we joined our favorite boy wizard for his first trip on the Hogwarts Express, and Harry sure has faced some obstacles along the way. Six films later, we're almost at the end (sniff, lone tear forming in corner of eye, sniff). And so, in honor of this decade-long franchise, here is a list of the 10 most memorable moments from the "Harry Potter" films thus far, in chronological order and not including "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" and "Part 2."

10. "You're a Wizard Harry" ("Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone")
This is the moment that started our decade long journey with Harry. After their escape from Privet Drive and the massive amounts of Hogwarts letters, the Dursleys flee to a deserted shack by the sea. At exactly 12:00 a.m. on Harry's 11th birthday, our favorite giant Hagrid breaks down the door and gives young Potter the news he has waited for his entire life: "You're a wizard, Harry."
Why It's Memorable: A giant breaking into a house and bending a shotgun is pretty memorable, but the news that Harry is a wizard? That's life-changing.

'Harry Potter' Refresher: Inside 'Goblet Of Fire'

Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireWe're all about "Harry Potter" this week at MTV Movies Blog, and we figure there is no better way to celebrate the beginning of the end of the beloved franchise than by looking back at the six previous films.

So each day this week we've been providing recaps of the earlier "Harry Potter" movies. Consider them a kind of affectionate Cliff's Notes and a much-need refresher to prepare for the November 19 release of "Deathly Hallows: Part 1." So far, we brought you up to speed on the first three "Potter" films: "Sorcerer's Stone," "Chamber of Secrets," and "Prisoner of Azkaban" -- which means today we're going to talk about the film that introduced the world to Robert Pattinson, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

It is the fourth installment of the "Harry Potter" saga that marks a significant change in tone for the series. For the first time, the conclusion of the story isn't neatly wrapped up with a happily-ever-after ending. A Troll Is Born In An Exclusive Clip From 'Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban' Ultimate Edition DVD

If you're a true Potterhead, chances are you're currently experiencing cold sweats, sleepless nights and dizzy spells as you try to contain your anticipation for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1." And while we can't make the November 19 release date get here any quicker, we do have some news (and an exclusive clip) that should make the wait a tad more bearable.

This past Tuesday "Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" Ultimate Editions arrived on DVD and Blu-ray, packed with loads of never-before-seen extras, deleted scenes and collector's items. The exclusive "Prisoner of Azkaban" Blu-ray extra below shows how F/X wizards created a giant troll. Hey, we know it's not "Deathly Hallows: Part 1"... but hopefully it helps the edge off.
