Get ready to be Smurfed.

The first theatrical trailer for "The Smurfs" hit the web today, and in our opinion it shows just the right balance of Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays with our little blue friends. While the previous teaser left us wanting much, much more, this one gave us a good sense of where the movie's heading.

In short, there are Smurfs. They get sent to New York City. Havoc and hilarity ensues. Check out our favorite moments from the trailer after the jump!

"The Smurfs" might not be invading New York City until August 2011, but that doesn't mean that they won't remind us that they're coming. In a new image from the upcoming film, Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette, Grouchy Smurf, Gutsy Smurf and Panicky Smurf just landed in Central Park on a nice sunny Manhattan day. At least we know they'll make some progress around the city since we first saw them in Times Square.

David Fincher's "The Social Network" has been getting some solid buzz around the Toronto International Film Festival, Richard Kelly has decided to contribute via his Twitter account. In fact, there was a lot to be excited about in the feed today. 50 Cent got cozy with a friend in a pic from the recording studio, a couple of "Eclipse" actress discovered a surprising snack-related coincidence in their lives and "Weird Al" Yankovic questioned a quote from Lindsay Lohan.

You'll find each of those tweets after the jump along with an old school Star Trek pictures from Leonard Nimoy and Hank Azaria's expectations for "Machete."

Gargamel wants to capture Smurfs so he can eat them. That's just the way of things for the diminutive blue people. In exchange for living a relatively peaceful life in their carved-out mushrooms, Papa Smurf and his charges must remain constantly vigilant, lest the evil sorcerer finds their secret village and cooks up a dinner to remember.

In the upcoming "Smurfs" movie, directed by Raja Gosnell, it turns out that this is no longer the case. USA Today has a first look at the movie today, which includes an image (seen below), news of a Thursday trailer debut on Yahoo! Movies and new information about the story.

So there you go. CG Smurfs. They look fine. I'm not falling out of my chair for them, but I remain excited -- yes, really! -- for the movie. Gosnell gets a lot of flak for the work he did on the two "Scooby Doo" movies, but I found them to be surprisingly faithful to the spirit of the original series... save for some fundamental disconnects. Now I worry that the same might be in store for "The Smurfs." Read More...

I am unashamedly excited for "The Smurfs," a 3-D live-action/CG adaptation of the classic cartoon series, hitting theaters in August 2011. I can understand why some might be worried; director Raja Gosnell's two "Scooby-Doo" movies weren't exactly smash hits. However, as a fan of the original cartoon, I thought that he managed to stay incredibly close to the spirit of the classic TV series. Except for all of the silly supernatural hooey.

I'm confident that he'll do solid work with "The Smurfs," especially with a live-action cast that includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays and -- best of all -- "Simpsons" voice actor Hank Azaria as the villainous Gargamel. We asked Azaria a few weeks ago about how he's going to transform for the role, and he promised an accurate portrayal. Based on the set pics that surfaced over the weekend -- the movie is currently shooting in New York City -- he wasn't lying. Check out the full image (compliments of Splash News) after the jump. Shooting is underway in New York City right now for director Raja Gosnell's adaptation of the classic cartoon series, "The Smurfs." A pretty wacky cast has assembled for it, including Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, George Lopez... and legendary "Simpsons" voice actor Hank Azaria, who will play Smurf arch-nemesis and evil wizard Gargamel. MTV's Josh Horowitz spoke to Azaria last night on the red carpet for "Date Night," which hits theaters this Friday, and, noting the actor's freshly shaved head, asked if we're looking at Gargamel.

"This is partially Gargamel," he said, indicating his newly hairless scalp. "This is for Gargamel; it saves me about an hour in the [makeup] chair." Okay then. Partial Gargamel. So what more do we add to the costume to complete the package? What does Azaria's evil sorcerer look like? Read More...

We have a quick update for you on the "Smurfs" movie, straight from the mouth of live-action lead Neil Patrick Harris, who is out at ShoWest to promote "Beastly." MTV's Larry Carroll spoke to him, but as he's currently running from interview to interview we wanted to quickly bring you the straight news.

"The Simpsons" voice actor and all-around awesome dude Hank Azaria was revealed yesterday as the voice of Smurf arch-nemesis Gargamel. NPH later clarified on his Twitter feed that Azaria would play the evil sorcerer in a live-action role. Read More...

Hank Azaria of "The Simpsons" and "Mystery Men" and "Glee" actress Jayma Mays joined the credits for director Raja Gosnell's "Smurfs" movie, and Azaria will likely have to play up his age — or at least get uglier — for his role as Gargamel. The live-action/animated hybrid project will feature Mays as one of its two human leads; the other belongs to Neil Patrick Harris. So expect to see at least one Simpsonian performance when this hits theaters, no matter what the Smurfs look like.

Casting is still underway for other parts, but Mays will be pregnant, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Azaria's energy and acrobatic voice stylings should make him an easy fit for the Smurfs' nemesis, flesh and blood, CGI or whatever they choose for the character.

Hank Azaria, Ben Stiller and Amy Adams at the 'Night at the Museum' sequel premiereFROM MTV.COM: The nation's capital may have the White House, Congress and the Supreme Court, but yesterday the hottest ticket in town was the world premiere of "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian."

Held at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the red carpet was star-studded, with a guest list that included Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, Ricky Gervais, Hank Azaria and more.

A follow-up to 2006's wildly successful "Night at the Museum," "Battle of the Smithsonian" finds Ben Stiller's character — now a successful business owner — racing to the Washington landmark to assist his magical friends, who are locked in storage in the museum's vast underground vault at the mercy of an ancient Egyptian tyrant played by Azaria.
