Gwyneth PaltrowIt's been almost 12 years since Gwyneth Paltrow took to the stage of the Academy Awards as the Best Actress winner for her work in "Shakespeare in Love." Now, Paltrow will return to the Oscar stage once again, only this time, not as a nominee or presenter, rather, as something she's been a lot more of these days — a performer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paltrow will perform the Best Original Song nominee "Coming Home" (with music and lyrics by nominees Tom Douglas, Troy Verges and Hillary Lindsey) from her movie "Country Strong" during the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27.

Paltrow has already sung songs from the flick elsewhere, including a live performance of "Country Strong" at the Country Music Awards. It will be the second time this month the star will perform during a live awards ceremony, as she and Cee Lo Green will hit the Grammy stage together, to sing his nominated smash "Forget You," which she memorably covered on Glee."

Russell BrandWhen you're thinking of casting for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Broadway musical "Rock of Ages," obviously the first three names to come to mind are Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow and Russell Brand. No? Well start picturing them, because those are the actors who are attached so far. Deadline has the news that Brand is looking to come on board as club worker Lonny. He works under club owner Dennis, a role that Alec Baldwin is allegedly circling. Getting excited yet?

The film is set to start production in May, once all the actors fall into place. Cruise would be playing decadent rock star Stacee Jax. Lonny is the narrator of the film, who tells the story of an aspiring rocker named Drew Bowie who also starts working for Dennis. Bowie's romantic interest would likely be Paltrow, if she's playing Sherrie. Bowie has yet to be cast, and neither have German bad guys Hertz and Franz, nor city planner Regina or fellow club owner Justice. But, well, there's still time. Read More...

This past summer, rumors started popping up that gravelly voiced Seth Rogen was in talks to take on a role in the big-screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical "Rock of Ages." The rumors did seem a bit strange, especially since they seemed to stem from the fact that the actor attended a showing of the musical in Toronto while there to film Sarah Polley's "Take This Waltz." Toronto's The Star suggested that he was doing research to play the role of "Rock of Ages" narrator Lonny, and the rumor mills were a-spinning.

MTV News chatted with Rogen at the recent press day for "The Green Hornet" (in theaters this Friday, January 14), and asked the comedic actor whether he's prepping to unveil his singing voice to the moviegoing world in the flick. His answer wasn't exactly surprising.

"I heard that rumor, but I can't sing at all," Rogen told us. "I would be the worst guy to put in that movie. I saw 'Rock of Ages.' It was pretty good. I liked the music. But I can't sing. I think people should be aware of that," he laughed. "Yeah, I know nothing about any real version of that." Read More...

Gwyneth PaltrowThe "Rock of Ages" big screen adaptation already has its director, "Hairspray"'s Adam Shankman, and pretty much has its leading man squared away with Tom Cruise in talks. So now it's time for the musical homage to '80s hair bands to serenade it's leading lady. And, according to EW.com, it has.

While promoting her other singing movie, "Country Strong," Gwyneth Paltrow told EW that the movie "sounds cool." "I just got the script and I will read it on the plane home tomorrow," she said. "But it sounds like it could be fun." Read More...

Bruce WillisEven if you're still a fan of M. Night Shyamalan's body of work, there are few who would argue with the claim that the filmmaker's greatest hits occurred early on with "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable." Films like "The Village" and "Lady in the Water" just haven't been met with the same critical acclaim. We could argue all day long as to why that is, but there's one ingredient that both "Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" had that was completely absent from Shyamalan's later films: Bruce Willis.

Now, it appears that Shyamalan is pulling some old tricks out of his hat. The director, whose latest film "The Last Airbender" is barely more than a week away from release, is reportedly re-teaming with Willis for a top secret new project that also calls upon the assistance of actors like Gwyneth Paltrow and Bradley Cooper. Yesterday, I saw a lot of people calling for Jamie Foxx's Oscar to be revoked following the announcement that he and Martin Lawrence are confirmed for "Sheneneh and Wanda," a comedy in which the duo will play female bank robbers. Both roles are based on earlier cross-dressed characters from the actors' TV days (Lawrence's Sheneneh is from "Martin" and Foxx's Wanda is from "In Living Color"). Foxx, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2004 for "Ray" (he was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor that same year for "Collateral), returning to this drag shtick seems like a huge step backward to a lot of people.

"Seems" is the key word here, though, because it doesn't have to be a regression. Plenty of Oscar-caliber actors have cross-dressed before and since being nominated and/or winning an Academy Award, and plenty of performers have won for dressing like the opposite sex. I've selected a few standouts of the bunch below. Click the image at the top of the post to be whisked off to our Cross-Dressing Oscar Winners flipbook gallery. Read More...

Gwyneth PaltrowProtests, marches, and link-passing have taken over Twitter following last week's contested election results in Iran, and the Twitter-Wood feed has been no exception. Alyssa Milano has been particularly persistent with her #iranelection-tagged tweets, and directors Errol Morris, James Gunn, and Jon Favreau all logged on to comment on the events in Tehran.

Meanwhile, a few tweets squeaked through with details from the "Iron Man 2" and "Casino Jack" sets, as well as from Wil Wheaton's guest appearance on the TNT series "Leverage." Also, Jonah Hill joins Kat Dennings and Nick Jasenovec in doubting the legitimacy of the controversial Michael Cera Twitter account that I've mentioned before. Click onward for all of these, birthday wishes to actor Michael Showalter, a much more in 140 characters or less in today's Twitter-Wood report! Read More...

Gwyneth PaltrowFROM SPLASH PAGE: Remember the days when "Iron Man 2" news was popping up all over the 'Net and actors were being cast and, in some cases, dropping out of the cast faster than you could say "Pepper Potts?" Yeah, those were good times. But now it feels like those days are behind us, as we haven't heard anything new from the "Iron Man 2" crew in quite a while -- and we're not the only ones.

MTV News caught up with Gwyneth Paltrow at the red carpet premiere of her new film "Two Lovers" and asked the talented "Iron Man" actress if she's felt the same void when it comes to "Iron Man 2" news.
