But before we get to our breaking "Lethal Weapon" news, enjoy the below as we name Gibson's Mad Max one of the greats of all time.

As for "Lethal Weapon," well Hollywood is notoriously—some might say pathetically—hooked on sequels, but Gibson at least seems determined to break his addiction. So if Danny Glover’s Murtaugh dives into a fifth adventure of murder, drugs and campy one liners, he’ll be doing it without the protection of Mel Gibson’s Riggs. “I couldn’t imagine going back there to try to revive that one,” Gibson exclusively told MTV News. “I think we got everything we could out of it.” Read more...

We already announced that "Alien"-killer Ellen Ripley made the #2 spot in our Greatest Movie Badasses of All Time feature, and we even interviewed alter-ego Sigourney Weaver about the honor. But that's only one part of the puzzle...the discussion around our selection is just as entertaining as the character herself.

Our NY Comic-Con panel of four celebrities (Method Man, Judah "30 Rock" Friedlander, Chuck "Best Week Ever" Nice and James "Tyson" Toback) threw out one hilarious observation after another. Check out the Ripley segment below, and then click here to watch the entire Greatest Movie Badasses panel.

10. Carrie in "Carrie" (Sissy Spacek): This girl geek doesn't just turn the tables — she upends the entire friggin' prom. Who is the greatest movie badass of all time? That's the question MTV has been asking accomplished actors, filmmakers, and readers of Movies Blog and Splash Page, and we're happy to announce that the final results are in!

We'll reveal the baddest of the badasses on February 6 at 7:15 PM (EST), when MTV announces the winner live at our New York Comic-Con panel and here on MTV.com. Until then, however, MTV is revealing each of the 10 finalists for the "Greatest Badass" mantle -- one per day and in alphabetical order. So far, we've honored the extensive badassery of "Star Wars" bounty hunter Boba Fett and "Alien" fighter Ellen Ripley, while notable MTV Movies mainstays Kurt Loder and Larry Carroll each provided their lists of the film world's greatest tough guys (and gals).

And just in case you needed a reminder why why Ellen Ripley made the cut, here's a montage we created of some of her greatest hits:

It's always a good time to watch Ellen Ripley in action, isn't it? Keep it locked to MTV.com every day leading up to the big reveal on Friday, Feb. 6 to find out more of the contenders for the title of GREATEST BADASS IN MOVIE HISTORY (and if you're in the NYC area, come to our Comic-Con event)!
