New Line's "Police Academy" remake gets a director who not only has proven he can helm very funny content, but also is surprisingly knowledgeable about being a police officer. It's hard not to credit this weekend's complete success of the premiere episode of "Boardwalk Empire" (come on, it was renewed for a second season after just one episode) to the stream of gangster-style television shows and movies that are now being publicly sought after. The most exciting of these is easily the series version of "Goodfellas" that Deadline announced yesterday.

Considering "Goodfellas" director Martin Scorsese's involvement in "Boardwalk Empire," it's hard not to imagine that he might be willing to work on a televised version of his hit crime drama. Public EnemiesWhen a film like “Public Enemies” comes out, it seems awfully good to be a gangster. Sure, you spend your life dodging the authorities, but you spend it with the fastest cars, the most stylish clothes and the sexiest women.

After burning up the pages of the Maxim Hot 100 list at #24, Sophia Bush is ready to set fire to the silver screen. The "One Tree Hill" leading lady is currently shooting "The Narrows" alongside Eddie Cahill and Vincent D'Onofrio. "It's a sort of 'Donnie Brasco'/'Goodfellas' mafia story," reveals Bush of the crime drama. "I kind of end up being a window for this wonderful boy from his world into the world that he's trying to get to."

Describing the movie as "very gritty," the project is just another step in Bush's burgeoning career, which has included roles in films like "The Hitcher" and "John Tucker Must Die," along with her long-running part in the popular CW show. "I'm just always trying to do something different," exclaims the actress, "so it's kind of another notch in the belt for me."

"The Narrows" is set to hit theaters in 2008.
