globe.jpgThe stars stayed home this year, but that didn't stop the Hollywood Foreign Press Association from handing out a bunch of Golden Globes. So when all is said and done, who was the night's biggest winner?

Me. That's right, me. With the WGA strike and the stripped down ceremony keeping all of Hollywood's elite away, the Beverly Hilton opened its doors to yours truly among others - meaning us journalists get to say that we actually went to the Globes in 08. Take that Johnny Depp. Read more...

We're just like you, all broken up that the Golden Globes ceremony is another casualty of the writers strike. And it occurred to us that we're not just going to miss the stars and speeches and the fashion and all that. We're going to miss the famed Golden Globes song that opens every telecast. Jodie Foster in 'The Brave One'(Stay tuned as we bring you reactions throughout the day)

From Jodie Foster, nominated for Best Actress by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, for her work in "The Brave One":

"The nomination is so exciting and surprising at the same time. Never saw it coming ... It's strange to continue to feel a character in your blood long after it wraps. I am so proud of 'The Brave One,' of where Neil Jordan took the character of Erica Bain. The experience of playing her has moved me deeper than anything I can remember. I can't wait to have some rubber chicken and listen to the unscripted banter with all of those fine actresses."

OK, I've had a chance to look at the nominations for a bit or at least long enough to make some hasty angry proclamations about what/who was robbed, etc. Check out the list below and see what I'm happy, sad and insanely bothered by. And be sure to weigh in with your own opinions at the end! What do you think of the nominations? We want to know.

The Right Call
Count me among the happy for some kudos for Cronenberg. “Eastern Promises” was certainly one of the best of the year.

Are You Sure?!?
Um we all love Denzel, but is “The Great Debaters” really that good?

What the &*%^?
Clearly Sean Penn blew some smoke in the face of the Hollywood Foreign Press. Seven nominees in the category and no room for "Into the Wild"? Yikes. Oh, and remember "Zodiac"? Yeah, the Globes didn't either. Read more...
