Paranormal Activity 3

The third installment in the "Paranormal Activity" franchise creeps into theaters this weekend. To get you ready for supernatural chills, there's a sixth viral clip that's been released. "Catfish" directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman direct the film that finds a young Katie (from the first and second films), and her sister Kristi battling evil.

The newest clip shows more found footage, set at night in the bedroom. Paramount has stuck with their grassroots, viral marketing campaign for the film since Oren Peli's 2007 movie. Mysterious VHS tapes — simply labeled with the date, 1988 — were passed around to various websites, revealing similar found footage. See what terror this one contains by clicking right here.

Feeling a little groggy, or sluggish? Is it that "afternoon feeling?" Well, we don’t have any energy shots for you, but we do have a pretty entertaining clip. It's funny, it's gory, it's a "deadtime" story.

"George A. Romero Presents Deadtime Stories," to be exact, a DVD anthology of three 30-minute horror films. Romero is best known for the zombie flicks he launched in 1968 with "Night of The Living Dead," and with the horror legend acting as executive producer for these short films, you're pretty much guaranteed a bloody good time.

In this exclusive clip from the short film "Valley of The Shadow," a group of explorers find themselves drifting into some rather… unsafe territory, to put it gently. We're warning you, don't watch this before you go to bed. Nothing says "warning" like a head on a stick. Or six.

"George A. Romero Presents Deadtime Stories" Volume 1 on DVD hits shelves today.

At least one of Taylor Lautner's "New Moon" co-stars doesn't sound too impressed with the actor's new project "Valentine's Day," despite the fact that the film has more headline-worthy casting choices than a Robert Altman movie. (That's a joke because "A Prairie Home Companion" and "Short Cuts" both had big casts, too.)

Elsewhere, talk of a "Watchmen" sequel kicked up a few tweets, though the vocal ones haven't been too receptive thus far. Find out what a few guys in the know about comics films had to say after the jump where you'll also see some birthday wishes to zombie film legend George Romero, get a look at what Jim Henson-decorated piping at Jimmy Fallon's studio looks like and find out who tweets naked. It's all in Twitter-Wood for February 4, 2010. Read More...

Welcome to Gore Girls! MTV contributor Terri Schwartz doesn't know crap about the horror genre, and she's volunteered to be our Movies Blog guinea pig. She has a good guide too. Fellow contributor Jenni Miller is a bonafide horror enthusiast, and she's willing to walk Terri through her formative experiences with blood, guts, monsters and maniacs. Together, this dynamic duo are horror's own odd couple, THE GORE GIRLS!!! Good luck Terri... you're definitely going to need it.

This week's movie is one that really needs no introduction. If you know what a zombie is, then chances are that you also have at least some passing familiarity with George A. Romero's seminal work, "Night of the Living Dead." The term "zombie" wasn't born until much later, but the shambling, flesh-eating undead that terrorize the movie's human players were the template for all of the zombies to come. Read More...

In April, MTV News visited the set of the remake of George Romero's 1973 film "The Crazies." The original was an exercise in low-budget, high-camp horror: unmistakably fake blood, ridiculous overacting, laughable special effects. Yet the core story—the innocent residents of an Iowa town get infected with an insanity-inducing military bio-weapon that has them burning, shooting and otherwise viciously attacking one another—was undeniably frightening.

For the updated version, director Breck Eisner ("Sahara") and his cast - including Timothy Olyphant and Danielle Panabaker - have made it their #1 priority to stay true to the terrifying nucleus of the original while bringing in a bigger budget and far superior moviemaking technology in a quest to scare the crap out of audiences. Check out our report below.

'The Crazies'Who isn’t on Twitter these days? Millions of accounts are already online. MTV Movies Blog is on there, Oprah’s signed up—even my mom keeps threatening to join. It’s no surprise, then, that the movie industry is getting in on the micro-blogging action.

Folks on the set of “The Crazies,” the remake of George Romero’s horror flick about a top-secret bio-weapon that unleashes a plague of murderous insanity on an unsuspecting small town, have been Tweeting since shooting began in March. When I headed down to the central Georgia set recently, it seemed that the magic that is Twitter was all anyone could talk about. Read More...

'The Crazies'I should probably confess this now: I’m terrified of horror movies. I think it has something to do with a traumatic basement viewing of “Nightmare on Elm Street” when I was in the first grade. So when my bosses at MTV News asked if I wanted to be in a horror movie, I thought they had to be joking. Then it occurred to me that perhaps the universe was issuing a challenge to an unsuspecting entertainment journalist: get over it dude! Read More...

'The Crazies'The horror remakes just keep coming -- and it's not surprising that George Romero's work continues to be mined for them. According to Variety, Breck Eisner ("Sahara," upcoming "Flash Gordon") is attached to direct a remake of Romero's "The Crazies" for Overture Films.

Actually, it's a pretty good time for "The Crazies" to be remade. Typical of Romero's work, it has as much social commentary as over-the-top killing scenes. It centers around a small town, who's water supply is contaminated by a mysterious toxin. Naturally, the toxin unleashes a plague that causes the infected to become homicidal maniacs. The U.S. government takes notice and tries to send in military intervention, but nothing (and certainly not the elected officials) can stop its spread. Read More...
