It could be a mirror he's looking into. That performance capture stuff freaks me out, man. It is Uncanny Valley, defined. Performance capture characters look plenty human, but they're "off" somehow. "Polar Express" freaked me out, "Beowulf" freaked me out and now "A Christmas Carol" is freaking me out. It's also a kickass story, and I've grudgingly accepted that I'll see it even if it feeds my every nightmare in the months that follow.

Judging by the chains and the comfortable surroundings, the scene pictured in the exclusive image below occurs early on, when Scrooge (Jim Carrey) is learning what he's in for from the ghost of his old friend, Jacob Marley (Gary Oldman). BrunoHow weird is it that, out of Sacha Baron Cohen’s three trademark characters, Ali G is now the least famous of them all? With this past weekend’s strong “Brüno” opening, the UK-born and raised funnyman has once again fooled the world into believing that he is someone else. Where he goes from here is anyone’s guess, but as we play Monday-morning quarterback there is an even more pressing question: is Cohen the greatest cinematic "chameleon" of all time?

There are few things I love more in a movie than when an actor fully immerses himself in another persona. Sometimes it’s for comedy, sometimes it’s for drama... but whatever the performance is in the name of, when done right it can make that performer a legend. Below are my favorite "chameleon" actors of all time. Post your thoughts in the comments section and tell us where SBC ranks among these greats or any others. Read more...

Ray Stevenson"The Book of Eli" officially has my interest. We've watched the film rack up a pretty nice casting line-up in Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis, but something was missing in this post-apocalyptic story. That something was obviously the Punisher.

That's right -- Ray Stevenson, aka the new Punisher (who you'll see shoot up the place next week in Punisher: War Zone), has joined the cast of "Eli." According to Variety, he'll be playing an enforcer dispatched to kill Eli, that poor man who's just trying to guard a book and save humanity. Read more...

Mila KunisMila Kunis is becoming quite the action heroine. This fall, she played a pretty kickass assassin in "Max Payne," and now she's going post-apocalyptic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she's joining Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman in Albert and Allen Hughes' sci-fi thriller "The Book of Eli."

The story centers on a lone hero named Eli (played by Washington), who must battle his way across a desolate American wasteland, protecting a sacred book that holds the key to saving the future of humanity. Kunis will play a woman named Solara, who is hired to betray Eli. She's slowly won over, and ultimately joins him in his quest. This means she'll get to take on Gary Oldman, who's determined to steal Eli's book for himself. Read more...

Gary OldmanIt seems Gary Oldman has tired of playing kindly wizards and Gotham police commissioners. Variety reports the actor is returning to the dark side in "Book of Eli," where he'll go up against Denzel Washington, who is also producing.

"Eli" is a post-apocalyptic Western, where Washington's lone warrior, Eli, fights to bring society the knowledge that could be the key to its survival and redemption. Surprise -- it's a book. Oldman will play the despot of a small and pathetic town, who's determined to get ahold of Eli's book. I imagine that he doesn't have society's best interests, or redemption, at heart. Read more...

This weekend, millions of moviegoers will head to their local theater and fork over their ten bucks for "The Dark Knight," eager to see Batman, the Joker, Two-Face and some other Gotham City favorites. But will they also get a brief glimpse of Batgirl?

MTV News recently caught a screening of "The Dark Knight," and it isn't giving away any spoilers to say that Gary Oldman's James Gordon has a very different-looking family. The role of his wife has been recast (Ilyssa Fradin in "Batman Begins," now Melinda McGraw), as has his son James Jr. (an infant in "Begins," now 10-year-old Nathan Gamble). Most suspiciously, however, a daughter has been added.

As die-hard fans of the comics (and Sixties TV series) know, several incarnations of the Batman universe have had Gordon fathering a daughter named Barbara, who then grows up to don a costume of her own and take on the persona "Batgirl." In "The Killing Joke" storyline, the Joker turns her into a paraplegic, and she becomes Oracle. Read more...

Bruce Wayne"The Dark Knight" is still three days away from showing the world what MTV staffers lucky enough to see the film early already know, that Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart have created terrifying, complex new versions of the Joker and Two-Face that will surely stand the test of time.

But riddle us this, riddle us that, just what's next for the Big, Bad Bat?

Well, the Riddler, of course, if you believe Gary Oldman. Or Catwoman if you listen to Nester Carbonell. Or...well, we'll just let you check out what Jennifer Vineyard got Christian Bale, Eckhart, David Goyer, and the rest of the cast and crew to cough up about who they think should be the villain in "Batman 3” here.

One thing everyone agrees on, of course, is that whoever they choose will have to be reinvented to go along with Nolan's more realistic tone. Right? Read more...

Megan GoodSome people look down their noses at horror sequels, insisting that a “Friday the 13th Part VIII” or a “Nightmare on Elm Street VI” has no artistic merit. But true horror fans find significance as the Roman numerals get higher and higher, and at least one Hollywood starlet attributes her entire career to such sequels.

“When I was a little girl, what really made me want to be an actress was seeing ‘Halloween’ parts IV and V, and the little girl that was in that,” revealed Meagan Good over the weekend at the MTV Movie Awards, praising the work of actress Danielle Harris in those films. “I was like, ‘I want to do that in a movie!’ I’d scream really loud, in the middle of the night [to practice].”

Now, after launching a successful career that has put her in such films as “D.E.B.S.,” “Brick” and “You Got Served,” Good is ready to get Roman herself in “Saw V,” as well as a high-profile original film from the filmmaker behind “Transformers.” Read more...
