Chris EvansDr. Doom couldn't do it. The Silver Surfer couldn't either. Galactus, destroyer of worlds and devourer of planets? Never stood a chance. Nearly fifty years of adventures, and not one villain could ever put a permanent end to Reed Richards, Sue Storm, and the first family of crime-fighting.

Now they're ready to hang it up based on a little negative criticism?

"I'm pretty sure we won't do [another] one," insisted "Fantastic Four" star Chris Evans, who excelled in two films as the Human Torch. "I'm assuming that one is a closed book." Read more...

Over the past six months, Jessica Alba has spoken to MTV News three times, each time insisting that super spawn Franklin Richards was her preferred choice for any "Fantastic Four 3” storyline.

But don't clink your glasses or hand out your cigars quite yet. Thing is, well, the Thing. Maybe somebody should have told Uncle Ben?

"That's ... interesting," "F4" star Michael Chiklis said, a wry smile across his face when we recently told him of Alba's wishes. "She never said that to me. I didn't know she felt that way."

It would be hard for him to know that, Chiklis confessed, considering he hasn't spoken to anyone involved with the film for quite some time. Read more...

Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba in 'Fantastic Four 2'As anyone knows, trying to engage an expectant parent-to-be in a conversation about anything other than their kid is like boxing a glacier. Good luck getting them to mention anything else.

So it is with Jessica Alba, the sexy 26-year-old star of the "Fantastic Four" flicks. A month after chatting us up at Comic-Con, Alba's still pregnant with anticipation for little Franklin Richards to appear in the next installment of the superhero franchise.

"I think the next thing we have to go through is having a baby. That's what happens next," Alba reiterated to MTV News last week. "Franklin comes along and the Fantastic Four have to deal with this powerful new child." And here we wanted to talk about Namor. (No, really. We asked. Don't you think the last flick set him up?) When you think of Tennessee Williams, do you think of mandatory reading, those glass figurine thingies, cats falling off hot tin roofs? How about the Human Torch? No? Well get ready to revisit the great American playwright with a brand new level of appreciation when Chris Evans brings "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond" to the big-screen, the "Fantastic Four" star enthused.

Or maybe not. "Truth is, it's Tennessee Williams. It's a little boring," Evans joked with MTV News' Tim Kash.

The period drama centers on rebellious Southern socialite Fisher Willow (Bryce Dallas Howard) who, after returning from overseas, falls in love with Jimmy (Evans), the down-and-out son of an alcoholic father and an insane mother. "I play kind of a farm hand, not the brightest bulb on the tree," Evans divulged. It's a huge change of pace for an actor better known for wearing spandex and battling computer-generated foes as a member of the "Fantastic Four." Read more...

It's been called "silly," an "aesthetically unnecessary sequel," a movie "sentient humans should [avoid]." Our own Josh Horowitz labeled it "the worst superhero franchise ever."

Have patience, "Fantastic Four" star Chris Evans implored. Talking with MTV's Tim Kash, Evans was remarkably candid about the failings of the first two films, and equally hopeful that, given a chance, the future for the first family of crime-fighting would be a bright one. "It's tricky when you're working with a gigantic film like this...there's a lot of cooks in the kitchen, a lot of people that have their input. Some people's opinions are stronger than others, and sometimes you lose. But I think that we're getting there," he declared. "I still think the potential of this has not been reached. I still think this can be something great, and I think we are getting closer. We're all making revisions." Read more...

Sometimes having a superhero around isn't enough to save you. This afternoon, MTV News was abuzz with a hot little piece of video gold. Our newest correspondent, Tim Kash, got a chance to spend some quality time with Chris Evans (aka The Human Torch of "Fantastic Four") when suddenly, out of nowhere...

Well, you should just watch the tape for yourself. Don't worry. Everyone's alright. And be sure to check out Tim Kash's own blog for his firsthand account.

Just because the show was over, that didn't mean the stars were going home. The proverbial after-parties took center stage in Hollywood last night, post-MTV Movie Awards. We hit the clubs and report back with our exclusive observations.

A couple of the "Fantastic Four" cast -- we'll call them the Terrific Two -- Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd partied at the official MTV function held at Universal Studios. Porno King Ron Jeremy and "Hairspray" star Amanda Bynes were also in attendance. Over at Sugar, they sure were shady at the door to Rihanna's party. The doormen irritated Jay-Z when he was trying to make his entrance and even made that sexy Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls wait several minutes to enter.

Inside, the woman of the night -- Rihanna -- shunned the VIP section in favor of showing off her drop-dead, any-guy-would-want-to-marry-me-now-knockout red dress. On the dance floor, she danced to her own music, Sean Paul and Beyonce. Meanwhile, another cutie was in the building: "Entourage" member Lauren London. Funnyman Chris Tucker cooled out with Giant Magazine Editor-in-Chief Smokey Fontaine (Giant sponsored the party in celebration of Rihanna being their current covergirl) and another jokester, Guy Torre, was seen shaking hands and rubbing shoulders as well.
