Today the rains gave way to a stellar day in Bora Bora but there was work to be done with our “Couples Retreat” interviews beginning at last. Tomorrow we’ll be chatting with Vince Vaughn, Malin Akerman, Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell, plus we’ll be going on some mini-adventures with the aforementioned talent. Let’s just say we’ve asked for lots of alcohol for the Vince/Malin shoot. We’re classy that way.

But back to today. Two couples were paired for us this afternoon for a couple of really fun chats. So it would seem the poor economy hasn't quite hit our friends at Universal Pictures. Exhibit A: I'm in Bora Bora. That's right, a few hours ago I finished a long trek that began in New York, took me to LA, then to Papeete via Air Tahiti (duh), on a connecting flight to Bora Bora, and finally a little boat ride to our absurdly idyllic backdrop for the junket that's about to get underway.

What movie is Universal shelling out this kind of cash for? Why "Couples Retreat" of course! Take a little "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," throw a dash of Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau and what do ya know?!? So for the next few days intrepid MTV News producer Vanessa White Wolf and I will be here in a world an awfully long way from our Times Square home to soak up the sights and sounds and have a little fun chatting with the stars in some stupendously cool environs. With any luck, Tom Felton's Twitter application of choice will follow him over the border into the United States as he heads to the New York premiere for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." He posted another pic in the Twitter-Wood feed today to announce that he is heading south for his next stop on the premiere circuit.

Newcomer to our feed Kristen Bell vehemently defended her authenticity today, so I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt that this recommendation for "My Sister's Keeper" is for real. Mandy Moore also tweeted in with her reactions to "The King of Kong." She actually split her thoughts over two tweets, so I stitched them together for your reading convenience. Farrah Fawcett still has scores of fans both inside and outside of Hollywood, and stars from Emma Roberts to Paris Hilton tweeted condolences today in the Twitter-Wood feed. There were also plenty of Shaq fans busy reacting to the NBA star's trade to Cleveland today, including Jeremy Piven and Danny Masterson.

Meanwhile, an exhausted Jon Favreau proved that a full day filming "Iron Man 2" wasn't enough to dampen his sense of humor, as he tweeted a completely legit shot from the movie's set. If you are squirming at all the romantic-comedies cast this week, then here's the movie for you. You may remember that Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn were teaming up onscreen again for "Couples Retreat," and were bringing Jason Bateman and Faizon Love along for the ride. Now, they finally have some girls to make up their other halves -- and just when I was thinking Bateman and Favreau looked really cute together.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, they'll be joined by Kristen Bell, Kristen Davis, and Malin Akerman, who will be playing Mrs. Bateman, Mrs. Favreau, and Mrs. Vaughn, respectively. I think those are the three prettiest and funniest couples this side of People Magazine.
