Eric BanaGiven that the his role as the Hulk ended, not with a bang, but with a whimper, and you’d probably forgive Eric Bana for being green with envy over the fact that the iconic character has been taken over by a different actor, especially since it was the role that was supposed to shoot him into superstardom.

So forget the comics: Could an Eric Bana v. Ed Norton battle be the real "World War Hulk?"

For shame, the "Munich" star told MTV News. To suggest such a thing would just make him angry (and you wouldn’t like him when he's angry). Read more...

Eric BanaNewly minted "Star Trek" baddie Eric Bana recently threw the Trek fan community a curveball when he told several reporters that his role in the J.J. Abrams reboot amounted to little more than a cameo appearance.

"[But] it's a good cameo!" the "Hulk" star enthused, a wide grin across his face.

Cameo or not, Bana knows a lot rests on his Romulan shoulders, especially given that the "Trek" movies have always been defined in large part by the success (or failure) of their villains. Nero's quest may take him to the city on the edge of forever, but viewers won't have to go that far back to find iconic bad guys like the Borg or Khan for comparison.

It's an assessment Bana can't help but make himself, the actor admitted to MTV News. Read more...

With his stint as Marvel's mean green machine, Eric Bana hasn't shied away from playing complex characters...which is good, because that's precisely what he's walking into with "The Time Traveler's Wife." The film -- adapated from the popular novel by Audrey Niffenegger -- tells the story of Henry DeTamble, a man who suffers from a rather unique disorder: without notice, he shifts back and forth in time.

Lest one consider this a sci-fi thriller, "The Time Traveler's Wife" is actually a touching romantic epic that spans the lives of Bana's character and his wife (played by the fabulous Rachel McAdams) who must cope with her husband's unpredictable absences as well as meeting him at different points throughout her life.

It's a meaty role for both of them, and that's precisely why Bana chose the project. "It's just a really great script," he gabbed to MTV, "and I'm a really great fan of Rachel. It just seemed like an interesting combination and a challenge. [It's] a more romantic sort of role than I'm used to, but also really cool." Those expecting DeTamble to leap into the prehistoric era shouldn't hold out hope. "I haven't got any dinosaur films on the slate," Bana says, laughing.

"The Time Traveler's Wife" is scheduled for a 2008 release. The actor can currently be seen in the Vegas-draped love story "Lucky You," alongside Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall.
