Henry Cavill is heading from "Man of Steel" to join director Ed Zwick at the "Great Wall." Meanwhile, Morgan Freeman is the latest actor to join "Oblivion," Ralph Fiennes picks his next directorial effort and Haley Joel Osment is set to star in another sci-fi film.
It's February 10, and you're tuning in for today's casting call.
MTV's After Hours has made a name for itself creating the highest quality late night entertainment around. But now, with the help of Ice T, the series could be making its big break into prime time programming.
Enter "Snowy River," which absolutely was definitely not shot on location at the Sundance Film Festival or anything like that (hint: okay maybe it was). Snowy River is a mysterious town with many terrifying murderers on the loose (you could get killed for playing peek-a-boo) and even more interesting inhabitants (just wait until you see the Inarticulate Twins). As the trailer teases, it will be a lot better than "NCIS"... we hope.
But what about the stars? We sat down with the cast of "The Art of Getting By" last night in Los Angeles as part of MTV Sneak Peek Week, and made sure to ask "Scream" star Emma Roberts for her take on a possible fifth installment. We got some good stuff, but needless to say — some MAJOR SPOILERS lie ahead.
"The Hunger Games" casting process hasn't been entirely unpredictable, but I doubt many of you saw this one coming.
Lionsgate has announced that rocker Lenny Kravitz is joining the cast in the brief but memorable role of Cinna, the thoughtful and innovative stylist who works with Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) as they prepare themselves for the do-or-die games. Hollywood Crush points out that this isn't Kravitz's first big-screen gig; he had a nice, small part in the Oscar-winning "Precious" in 2009.
In addition to Kravitz, it looks like Toby Jones has found himself in "The Hunger Games" as well. Deadline reports that the "Captain America" and "Harry Potter" actor is playing a host/narrator of the games alongside the previously cast Stanley Tucci.
There's more casting news today besides these latest "Hunger Games" additions, so click past the jump for the latest additions to "The Dark Knight Rises" and a whole lot more!
Every movie depends on secrecy to a degree, but the "Scream" franchise hinges upon it entirely. If you go into your first screening knowing who the killer is, there's no question that you're missing out on some of the wonder that Wes Craven and his team have in store for you.
"Scream 4" hits theaters tonight at midnight, and thankfully, the biggest secrets of the film remain largely unspoiled online and elsewhere. It's actually not surprising that Dimension has been able to keep a lid on things for so long — because not even the cast of the movie themselves were allowed to read a full "Scream 4" script in order to prevent any and all possible leaks.
After the jump, hear the enormous lengths that the "Scream" team went through to keep their secrets from the actors themselves.
In the latest "Scream 4" trailer, Emma Roberts survives a very close call with Ghostface, ducking just in time as he comes a-slashin' at her and escaping with only a cut on her arm. At the Sundance Film Festival last month, the 20-year-old actress pulled off an escape move that was, in a way, no less perilous.
(Before going any further, know that you're about to set foot on potential spoiler territory. The following is based on our own hunch, but if you're looking to keep the entirety of your "Scream 4" experience purely unspoiled, now is a good time to turn away.)
That's because Roberts nearly gave away the fate of her "Scream 4" character, and if you read between the lines, it's not hard to arrive at a certain conclusion about what happens to her in the upcoming horror flick (needless to say, a potentially massive spoiler exists below).
If you're not yet excited for "Scream 4," you should probably started getting pumped right about now. Dimension Films has released a new trailer for the upcoming horror satire, and it definitely gives a better feel for what we can expect than the previous teaser did.
The best parts of the trailer come when it pokes fun at all the horror tropes of the past 10 years. For instance, when Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) won't tell his wife, hard-nosed reporter Gale Weathers-Riley (Courtney Cox), what's going on, she responds that his "classified information" is already all over the Internet. Ghostface challenges newcomer Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere) to name a remake of a classic horror film, and before he can finish his question she starts spouting out a dozen films. Oh, and apparently virgins can die now. Hit the jump to watch the trailer! Read More...
Bootlegs... we don't need no stinkin' bootlegs. One day after a grainy version of the "Scream 4" teaser trailer (shot with a mobile phone at Saturday's taping of Spike's 2010 Scream Awards, where the trailer debuted) hit the Interwebs, a pristine official version has emerged for the world's viewing pleasure. In addition to being astronomically easier on the eyes, the new video offers additional footage not seen in the leaked clip and showcases beloved "Scream" regulars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Ghostface, as well as an eager crop of franchise newbies such as Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin.
Seeing as it's been 10 years since a new "Scream" film graced the silver screen, Culkin's character is kind enough to tell fans how the rules of horror flicks have changed in the interim. For starters, "the kill has to be, like, way more extreme" (cue screaming woman plummeting to her demise atop a news truck). Also, virgins aren't safe (cut to Ghostface chasing scantily clad virgin around her bedroom). And, as the bootleg "Scream 4" trailer proves, everything these days is caught on tape, so the killer should be filming his handiwork (see Courteney Cox discover a camcorder just prior to a run-in with Mr. Ghostface). David O. Russell's commitment to direct "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" looks to be a blessing for Neil Patrick Harris: The "How I Met Your Mother" and "Harold and Kumar" star will make his feature directorial debut when he takes over the reins from Russell on the romantic comedy "Aaron and Sarah," starring Josh Hutcherson and Emma Roberts.
The film, originally titled "B.F.F.," according to a report at The Hollywood Reporter, follows the evolving relationship of the two title characters, a geek and a popular girl, who meet during their freshman year of high school and go through various proms and a funeral together.
NPH has a busy year ahead of himself, with a "A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas," "The Smurfs" and a modern take on "Beauty & the Beast" with Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens called "Beastly" all due out in 2011. And that's in addition to his continuing duties as resident lady-killer Barney Stinson on CBS' "How I Met Your Mother." Read More...
Zack Snyder's director colleagues expressed approval over his newly announced gig on the Superman reboot yesterday. Both Brett Ratner and Duncan Jones sent their regards, while Snyder just put up an image of a postage stamp.
A few more lively scenes showed up, too, though. Wes Craven and Pee-Wee Herman posed for a shot together, and Miranda Cosgrove got into a snowball fight while celebrating Christmas a bit early. You'll know what I mean when you take a look at the mayhem below. It's there along with Emma Roberts' pick for best film of the year, Marlon Wayans' harsh words for the 49ers and Stephen Colbert's concern for hobos.
