From "The Taming of the Shrew" and "Cleopatra" to her status as a world-class celebrity, there's no question that we already miss Elizabeth Taylor terribly.
Our friends at Next Movie wrote a lovely piece about Taylor and her impact on Hollywood as a whole, perfectly describing her legacy in saying: "When the memory of today's award-winners and attention-grabbers fades into the ether, [Taylor's] will linger, still electric, forever dazzling. A star." It's a must-read for Taylor's fans and celebrity enthusiasts everywhere.
There are more headlines out there today beyond Taylor's sad passing. After the jump, find out which "Chronicles of Narnia" film is coming next, how you can spend the next year waiting for "The Hunger Games" and what the status is on the developing "Dune" adaptation.

A legend has passed, as today we're mourning Elizabeth Taylor. Whether it was her iconic turn in "Cleopatra" or "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," in classics such as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," or even in my personal childhood favorite "National Velvet," Taylor was one of the Hollywood greats. She'll most certainly be missed.
Of all her famous roles, though, the one that holds the most special place in my heart is when she starred opposite her then-husband Richard Burton in 1967's "The Taming of the Shrew." It captured everything we've come to know and love about Taylor, and is still just as much fun to watch.
Very sad news to start your Wednesday morning: Elizabeth Taylor, one of the most iconic and established actresses of Hollywood's golden age, has passed away. She was 79.
Taylor, who died this morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, had been hospitalized since mid-February for symptoms related to congestive heart failure. Despite showing some signs of improvement, Taylor eventually succumbed to her illness.

All of this news is credited to "industry sources," so take it with the appropriate helping of salt grains. The UK Telegraph reports that Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones are both reportedly interested in taking on the lead role of Elizabeth Taylor in director Mike Nichols' adaptation of the book "Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century." What's more, Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell are reportedly being considered for the male lead, Richard Burton.
Taylor's story as framed in the book is certainly an interesting one. She was on her third marriage when she met Burton, while filming "Cleopatra." They stayed together for 10 years before divorcing, and then remarried a year later in a second union that last only 10 months. Like the book, the movie would primarily focus on the troubled Taylor/Burton relationship. Interestingly, Jolie is currently participating in the development of another Cleopatra movie, in which she would also star.

Conan O'Brien fired up his Team CoCo tweeters today with news that he would bring a late-night show to TBS. George Lopez, whose show will move to make room for Conan, gained a whole new following as a result, including Aziz Ansari and James Urbaniak. Conan even got a shout-out from Justin Bieber about the announcement. Bieber, meanwhile, saw a new #JustinBieberSucks tag emerge, which was bound to happen sooner or later. Frankie Muniz picked that one up, though.
In other tweets, Edgar Wright mourned the break-up of the British band Supergrass, who strangely enough were responsible for the 1995 album I Should Coco. Check out what he had to say after the jump where you'll also find Elizabeth Taylor dispelling a rumor and an "Eclipse" actor hugging a koala. It's all in Twitter-Wood for April 12th, 2010. Complaints about surveillance trended in today's Twitter-Wood feed. "Eclipse" actor Alex Meraz credited photo-enabled radar detection for a speeding ticket he received, while Ken Jeong harped on Twitter's new location identification system and asked whether or not his fans would want him to use it.
In a rare Twitter appearance, Elizabeth Taylor unleashed some pointed complaints over post-Oscars stories written about Kathy Irelend. I've retweeted one of those, but you can click on over to her account to read the rest. Meanwhile, check out some photos from Tom Hanks in Washington, D.C., Christian Serratos with a hot dog and a posting from the "Office" writers room. It's all in Twitter-Wood for March 11th, 2010. You know how you feel when you look at one of those blogs with all of the cute and fuzzy kitten pictures? Twitter-Wood's sort of like that today with good news following Elizabeth Taylor's heart surgery, Emmy Rossum with cotton candy, Paris Hilton with a monkey, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's happy breakfast picture.
All of those pics come in addition to an announcement by Jason Reitman that "Ghostbusters" fans should not want him to direct "Ghostbusters 3," as well as an on-set shot of Rainn Wilson with the band Frightened Rabbit, who recently got a tour of the office used in "The Office." Click on down to check out those posts and more. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for October 9, 2009. Read more...

Elizabeth Taylor actually broke some news about herself on Twitter this afternoon, as it appears the Hollywood legend and Twitter-Wood citizen is having an operation performed on her heart. Rose McGowan was among the first to send good vibes out to her, and I definitely echo those sentiments, as her performance in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" is among my all-time favorites.
In less dangerous news, Kim Kardashian added her name to Twitter-Wood's list of Halloween costume commitments for the year, announcing that she'll be going to at least one event as Jasmine from "Aladdin." Check out all the details, along with Shaq's take on Brett Favre, Richard Kelly's plea for help understanding "A Serious Man" and Peter Facinelli's behind-the-scenes shot from "Nurse Jackie." They're all in the Twitter-Wood report for October 6, 2009. Read more...

It's a chatty week in Hollywood with "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" premiering and Independence Day party-goers relating their experiences at P. Diddy's White Party over the weekend. Still, with Michael Jackson's funeral on Tuesday, the late King of Pop's name is still fresh on the fingertips of many Tweeters, including Elizabeth Taylor and Tyrese Gibson. Yet another high-profile death sparked reactions in the Twitter-Wood feed as well today, however, with the passing of former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. Errol Morris, who directed the Oscar-winning 2003 film "The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara" offered his thoughts.
Elsewhere, Tom Felton continued his own dedicated Twitter coverage leading up the "Half-Blood Prince" premiere tomorrow night, and actor Gil Birmingham tweeted a public RSVP saying that he won't be able to make Comic-Con in San Diego this year. Check out all of this and much more below in the Twitter-Wood report for July 6, 2009. Read more...
