'The Lord of the Rings'Over the last year, we've made it a point to ask as many of the original actors from "Lord of the Rings" as possible to chime in with their opinion of the eventual "Hobbit" movie, and more specifically, to weigh in with whether or not they'd be game to re-enter the world of Middle Earth.

Sure, not all of their characters appear in "The Hobbit," but with a second, transitional film that takes place in the years between the two novels, could we possibly see Aragorn, Frodo, Galadriel, and the rest back for another go round? To hear the actors themselves say it, the answer was a resounding yes.

Well, it's time to put down the pipe weed, Viggo, dust off those ears, Cate, practice your archery Orlando, and get ready to walk around barefoot, Sean and Elijah -– you're about to get asked to go "back again." Read More...

Elijah WoodWhen word came last month that "Hellboy" director Guillermo del Toro was eyeing a voyage to Middle-earth, loyal fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's lengendarium reacted with general approval and glee. If they couldn't have Peter Jackson, then here, at least, was the next best thing.

You know what? Frodo himself agrees.

"I think [Guillermo's] the perfect choice," "Lord of the Rings" star Elijah Wood told MTV News. "I think he would certainly honor the previous work that Peter had done."

For Wood, and others like Orlando Bloom, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin and Cate Blanchett, that was precisely the issue that held up their promised involvement with "The Hobbit" — again and again actors from the original trilogy told us they would only come back with Jackson's blessing and involvement. Elijah WoodAttention Cate Blanchett, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, and Sean Astin: You've gone "There." Now get ready to go "Back Again" - at least according to Elijah Wood's conversations with "Hobbit" maestro Peter Jackson.

"I haven't spoken to him directly about it [but] I've e-mailed him, and as far as I know the two films that they're doing, one will be 'The Hobbit' and another will take place between the 60 years that happened between 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings,'" the once and future Frodo enthused to MTV News, possibly confirming rumors that the second planned film would not be a Part II, but instead a narrative bridge.

Which means plenty of opportunities for all the stars of "LOTR" to reprise their famous characters in some capacity. None more so, perhaps, than Wood himself, who would arguably be a central figure along with Gandalf, Aragorn, Galadriel, and Gollum in any connecting story. Read More...

It's been two years since Elijah Wood first attached himself to the untitled Iggy Pop biopic, but the actor is still looking forward to playing the fabled punk rocker…if sounding somewhat doubtful of its potential to get off the ground. "I'm excited about it," he told us, "but it's independent film. It takes a long time to get things financed." While Wood has yet to speak to Pop (he confirms the musician's involvement is minimal since he signed away his life rights), the erstwhile hobbit says he would love to play the groundbreaking artist "if [the film] ultimately comes together."

Wood recently premiered the indie pic "Day Zero," which finds him and Chris Klein drafted into the Iraq War. He will next be seen later this year as a grad student-cum-crime detective in "The Oxford Murders."
