Oprah's announcement that her show may end its 25-season run in 2011 was almost enough to unseat "New Moon" as the top trending topic of the Twitter-Wood feed today. Kevin Nealon and Wil Wheaton both had a opinions on her possible bow out of syndication, while Eli Roth and Kevin Smith helped keep "Twilight" alive in Twitter conversation.
Two big names celebrated birthdays last night in very public fashion, as P. Diddy entertained a few folks on my follow list and Larry King got a little rowdy in my pick for Twitter Pic of the Day. Check that out after the jump along with Jeremy Piven's Calgary Flames trip and Danny DeVito's wholesome moment with Carrie Fisher. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 20, 2009. Read more...
Tracy Morgan may have had the most re-tweeted post of the day in my personal Twitter follow feed. I've re-tweeted it myself so that you can find out what he'll do for $15.
In other Twitter news, David Slade elaborated on a photo he posted yesterday, clarifying that the headlight shown does belong to Bella Swan's truck in "Eclipse." And speaking of "Twilight" movies, Jamie Campbell Bower took top honors for Twitter Pic of the Day today. I'm not entirely sure what his sign means or what promises he's fulfilling for his fans, but you can check it out and make that judgment for yourselves. Check all of those quotes and pics out below, along with Lindsay Lohan's paparazzi triumph, the puppet that hit on Ice-T's wife and much more. It's all after the jump in the Twitter-Wood report for October 21, 2009. Read more...

There must have been a "New Moon"-related tweet mandate out today, because the faces of "Twilight" clogged my Twitter feed today. David Slade posted an "Eclipse" update, Peter Facinelli TwitPic'd from his makeup chair and BooBoo Stewart posted a photo op moment with Latoya Jackson. Even Gil Birmingham contributed an off-screen group shot.
Candid pics showed up from non-"Twilight"-ers as well, though. Ken Jeong, Sarah Silverman and Eli Roth are all prominently features in today's tweet mix, in addition to Rainn Wilson on Bill Cosby and Mark Webber's on-set shot from his new movie "The Lie." It's a photo-heavy day full of links in the Twitter-Wood report for October 20, 2009. Read more...

Eli Roth's performance in "Inglourious Basterds" may not have been the best of the bunch, but his character -- Donny Donowitz, aka "The Bear Jew" -- is certainly the most unforgettable. He's the strong, silent type mostly, but with wide swaths of crazy thrown in to keep the Nazis on their toes. Sure, all of the Basterds are crazy. But Donowitz's is a special blend; even with no more than 10 or 20 lines of dialogue, he distinguishes himself as one of the movie's most unforgettable characters.
As such, you can expect to see a lot of Bear Jews walking around next Saturday, on Halloween. It's not a terribly difficult costume to prepare for and it comes with the added bonus of giving you an excuse to carry a baseball bat around for the night. Why that's a good thing is anyone's guess. Just please make sure not to hit people with said bat. The toughest part of a Bear Jew costume is the accessorizing. Luckily, Roth has his Twitter followers -- among them, the MTV Twitter-Wood feed -- covered. Today's Daily TwitPic serves up a guide to giving your Bear Jew costume that authentic feel. Read more...
Lucky you, Movies Blog readers! Not only do you get a second helping of Twitter-Wood reportage today; I also come bearing the answer your last-minute Halloween costume plans if you've been pondering how to pull the perfect outfit together from Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." Eli Roth tweeted a helpful diagram for anyone looking to replicate his Sgt. Donny Donowitz look, which helped earn his character his racy nickname "The Bear Jew."
In other sanitized-for-the-sake-of-this-column tweeting, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost collaborated on a slash fiction parody of their movie "Hot Fuzz," today, which apparently gained a lot of followers for Wright. Check out the barely family friendly ones after the jump, along with the "Eclipse" reveal planned for the "Twilight" Twitter account, Aziz Ansari's amusement park adventures and Jason Reitman's breakfast with the Chemical Brothers. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for October 19, 2009. Read more...

--Eli Roth, who recently starred alongside Brad Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds," is certainly keeping busy. Speaking in Mexico at the Morelia Film Festival, Roth revealed that he'll soon be showing "Cotton" to the Sundance team for a potential January 2010 festival premiere and that he's currently busy developing scripts for sci-fi project "Endangered Species" and "Grindhouse" tie-in "Thanksgiving." (Variety)
--We already reported on this last week, but it looks like Oren Peli's "Paranormal Activity" found footage follow-up, "Area 51," will land in front of cameras next week. (via press release; check out Variety for additional details) Read more...

Today over on MTV.com, Larry Carroll has a report filed from the red carpet of the "Inglourious Basterds" premiere. He got to chat with the various cast members as they strolled by, and the one question he made sure to hit them all with was "which Quentin Tarantino character is your favorite?" The answers are all over the place, from Eli Roth's half-dozen or so choices to -- including Brad Pitt's "True Romance" stoner Floyd! -- to Brad Pitt's humble nod to his "Basterds" co-star Christopher Waltz, who plays "the Jew Hunter."
It's hard to narrow down a single favorite, but I have to go with Robert Forster's bail bondsman Max Cherry, from "Jackie Brown." By far QT's most underrated effort, Forster's top-notch role is just one among many in the movie. Still, it's his character who sticks with me the most. As all of these shady dealings are unfolding before his eyes, this old fogey dullard sticks to his moral center and comes out of the mess clean as a result. Tremendous, that performance.
I want to know who your favorite is though. Hit the jump for the associated poll I'll be running this week, as well as thoughts from the rest of the MTV News team on their own favorites. And of course, if you have more to say than the poll really offers, I encourage you to share your thoughts in the comments or in a video post on Your MTV. Read more...

Long-time pals, co-workers and violent film fanatics Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth are joining forces yet again to deliver another gruesome flick to the silver screen. But how violent will “Inglourious Basterds” really be?
“It’s a different kind of violence,” Roth, director of the Tarantino-produced “Hostel” films, explained. “When you see the violence of torture in ‘Hostel,’ there is a certain element of fantasy to it… [with 'Basterds,' Tarantino] wanted to make a fun, exciting action movie -- and I think he killed it.” Read more...
Not so long ago, we used to run a daily feature here on MTV Movies Blog called... uhh... The Dailies. In the fast-paced world of entertainment, it's easy to cherry pick the most noteworthy and or relevant stories while leaving lesser but otherwise cool newsbites to flounder. Even on my busiest day, I still won't hit every single news item that you might care about.
That's what The Dailies is for. I'm bringing back this column to keep you all abreast of the latest Hollywood happenings that don't otherwise make it into the news day. Even here, I'll be sure to miss stuff. That's where you readers come in. Shout out links in the comments below or Tweet us with the same at @mtvmoviesblog and I'll do my best to cram the relevant news into the next day's column. For now, on to the headlines! Read more...
