You all know there's a thriller coming out on October 8 starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich, right? Norton plays a convicted arsonist who wants out. So he hatches a plan to lure his parole officer (De Niro) into a compromising situation with his wife (Jovovich). That's the read I get from the trailer. And it certainly explains why De Niro looks so distressed in the exclusive still below.

Adam McKay is coming off the high of a $35.6 million opening for "The Other Guys" and is readying plans to adapt the ultra-dark comic series, "The Boys," for the big screen. He's also eyeing a smaller project that would mark his most mature cinematic work to date: a darkly comic take on the life of Lee Atwater, the GOP political consultant perhaps most infamous for George Bush's race-baiting Willie Horton during the 1988 presidential campaign.

In an interview with MTV News, McKay talked about why the project interests him so greatly, why the movie will be anything but preachy, and why Jim Carrey or Ed Norton might be the perfect actor to play Atwater. Read more...

"Solitary Man" hits theaters this week, starring Michael Douglas as a car dealer whose life spirals away after he makes some major mistakes in both his personal and business lives. The film features the writing talents of Brian Koppelman (also directing) and David Levien, two guys who got their start in Hollywood more than a decade ago with their script for "Rounders." The poker movie starring Matt Damon and Edward Norton -- and featuring some amazing scenery-chewing acting from John Malkovich -- remains popular among fans and has long been talked about for a sequel. So when MTV's Josh Horowitz sat down to chat with the duo last week about "Solitary Man," he had to squeeze in a question about the status of the follow-up.

"'Rounders 2' is something that we talk about because whenever we see Matt Damon, whenever we see Edward Norton, who we're friends with, we talk about doing it. We've kept in touch with ['Rounders' director] John Dahl," Levien said. "We have this idea that we really want to pick these characters up down the road. So it is something we plan to do, we just don't have it on the calendar yet." Read more...

The release of Tim Blake Nelson's pot-addled black comedy "Leaves of Grass" is a story worthy of 4/20, the unofficial holiday for stoners. In the movie, Ed Norton plays twin brothers (a la Nic Cage in "Adaptation") -- one a pothead, the other a philosophy professor -- who set out to bring down a local drug lord. "Grass" was just about to see a small-scale release... until a strong performance at South By Southwest brought in the much-needed distribution; the movie will now hit theaters later this year.

In the video below, MTV's Josh Horowitz chats with Norton about the film and the role of marijuana in present-day society. The short version: he's all for legalization. Hit play to hear his reasons.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: If "Incredible Hulk" star Edward Norton had his way, not only would his former director Louis Leterrier direct Marvel's upcoming superhero team-up "The Avengers," but he'd get a similar level of creative control as Christopher Nolan did for "The Dark Knight."

"I loved Louis Leterrier," Norton told MTV News during the South by Southwest Film Festival. "I thought he was just the greatest guy. I wish they'd given him more free reign than they did."

An "Avatar" scene delving into the sex lives of the Na'vi may not have made it into the film's final cut, but it did make it into a script posted online by Fox, and Richard Kelly was on Twitter today to post his reaction.

In other tweets, Edward Norton ended a long Twitter sabbatical after wrapping up a vacation in Indonesia. "New Moon" actor Alex Meraz, meanwhile, was prepping for his own getaway, where hope hopes to issue a challenge to Mickey Mouse. You can check that out after the jump along with a shot of Fred Durst hanging out with Staind frontman Aaron Lewis, a hip-hop-themed soda fountain and Demi Moore with her favorite monkey. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for January 11, 2009. Read more...

The annual New York City Marathon went down yesterday. Among the thousands of runners was "The Incredible Hulk" star Edward Norton and his new Maasai warrior friends. The group of them ran in support of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. Norton even interrupted his training last week to stop by the office for a chat about the charity stunt.

One thing we learned during Norton's visit, not seen in the video above, was his plan to beat the running time of former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. She posted a time of just less than four hours when she ran in 2005. Norton took that as a challenge, telling MTV's Josh Horowitz "I'm gonna beat Sarah Palin like a rug!" So how did he do? Back in September, word emerged that Edward Norton, star of "The Incredible Hulk," would be participating in this year's New York City Marathon (sponsored by ING) on November 1. What's more, he'd be joined on the run by a trio of Maasai warriors in support of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. The plan is for these four to lead a group of 30 runners through the 26.2 mile foot race.

As you might imagine, this sort of undertaking requires a considerable amount of training. Lots of people, your Movies Blog editor for one, are huffing and puffing after less than one mile. Imagine the effort required to sustain oneself through 26 miles. Today's Daily TwitPic shows us Norton and his Maasai companions prepping for that effort with some meditative yoga exercises. Stay Zen, y'all. Read more...

"Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland claims that hackers descended on her website, which would explain the disarray currently on display if you visit Jodelle-Ferland.net. Her "Twilight" series costar Ashley Greene seemed to be having a much better weekend, however, taking in the U2 concert at the Rose Bowl Sunday night. Greene was joined by Danny DeVito, Demi Moore, and a host of others who tweeted pictures from the night.

Elsewhere, Tom Felton and Emmy Rossum are still undecided on their Halloween costumes, but Felton has officially nixed a Dalmation outfit and Rossum may be warming up to Pippi Longstocking. Check out what they had to say after the jump along with Edward Norton doing yoga, Billy Burke's "Harry Potter" shout-out and Stephen Fry's new secret video game role.
