From "Anchorman" to "Land of the Lost," Will Ferrell has braved many a genre before, typically operating somewhere within the general realm of comedy. His next movie, "The Other Guys," is no different -- alongside co-star Mark Wahlberg and frequent collaborating director Adam McKay, Ferrell is set to explore the cinematic world of crime.

Luckily, Wahlberg and Ferrell aren't alone. Variety reports that the actors will be joined in the film by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and Steve Coogan, all of whom have their own diversity of genre performances. Read more...

Gears of WarThe war against the Locust Horde is on the not-so-distant horizon according to Chris Morgan, screenwriter for the "Gears of War" game-to-film adaptation. Morgan revealed to MTV News that the movie is now in the budgeting phase. While funds are lining up for the project, casting has yet to begin for the lead role of Marcus Fenix, a disgruntled ex-convict who takes up arms as a member of the human military's crack Delta Squad.

"Normally when I write, I think about the actor I'm writing for, but this one's been difficult," Morgan admitted when asked about casting Fenix in the film. "It is a vital casting choice. It's counter-intuitive really, because it seems like you want to get a big character -- a big tough guy who can play it stoic the whole time -- but in my experience, dealing with macho sorts of movies and dealing with Dom [Vin Diesel's character in "Fast & Furious"] and that kind of stuff, it's harder to play the tough guy than an emotional character who's all over the place." First a cab ride with Dwayne Johnson, then an afternoon eating ice cream with John Cena. What's next? Where do we go from here?!? While we all ponder that one, let's talk about Mr. Cena. You may have seen "The Marine." Many of you didn't. Regardless, he's back with another go round as an action hero and this time he's got good old Renny Harlin at the helm for '12 Rounds."

We covered a lot in our Rough Cut interview with John Cena, from superhero rumors to his music career. But it all started on an interesting note when the topic turned to Dwayne Johnson. It turns out Cena DOESN'T want to follow in that particular path and what's more he's calling Johnson out for abandoning his fans AND refusing to wrestle him. Check it out.

"Jonny Quest" may soon reunite Dwayne Johnson with his "Race to Witch Mountain" director Andy Fickman. The WWE wrestler turned actor chose his words wisely but indicated that some big changes may be in store for the project. He also hinted that getting "High School Musical" star Zac Efron into the new film's lead role may be more important that sticking to a strict "Jonny Quest" adaptation.

"From what I know they’re going to go in a different direction," Johnson told MTV News. "Other than that I’m not quite sure what the details are just in terms of the creative." Read more...

After a week in which I've arranged for interviews with Russell Brand in an elevator and Dwayne Johnson in a taxi cab I am now convinced that cornering celebrities in confined spaces is THE way to go for me in the future. Stay tuned for our three hour chat with Dame Judi Dench in a sensory deprivation tank.

But before we get to that, let's talk about the artist formerly known as "The Rock." Dwayne was a great sport sitting down with us in a New York City cab to talk about "Race to Witch Mountain," whether I could ever amount to an action star, steroids, and horrible video game movies like "Doom." Like I said, good sport. Check out the whole Rough Cut: Dwayne Johnson here or dive right in below.

Dwayne JohnsonFROM NEWSROOM: Here's an unsolicited piece of advice: If you're trying to maximize your face time with a celebrity, arrange for the interview to occur in a confined space, preferably one that is moving and which his or her publicist cannot access. Mission accomplished this morning, as the MTV News gang somehow convinced Dwayne Johnson to fit his ginormous frame into a New York City taxi for 20-plus minutes!

The setting for the interview wasn't completely out of left field, by the way. Johnson plays a cab driver in his new flick, "Race to Witch Mountain."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is teaming up with kids again, but this time it's not for a fluffy comedy, it's for a dark adventure film with special powers, flying saucers and other fun deeds. We're talking about "Race to Witch Mountain," which is based on the same book as Disney's 1975 film.

In the flick, taxi-driving Johnson is hired to protect two kids (with paranormal abilities) from a sinister organization. The resulting ride takes them across the country as they race towards...Witch Mountain. Dwayne 'The Rock' JohnsonReporting by Ryan Fisher

From wrestler to action hero to family-friendly comedian, there has never been a career-image turnaround quite like that of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Soon, the "Get Smart" star will begin his next career re-invention, and it will have him trading in all those kicked asses for adorable little wings, a magic wand, and a tinkly noise when he flies when he flies around a room.

"Everything you can possibly imagine," the Rock said of what we can expect from "Tooth Fairy," a comedy that casts the 7-time WWE World Champion as an ordinary man who gets recruited, "Santa Clause"-style, to save the kingdom of dental-dependent flying fairies everywhere. "And then some!" Read more...
