Due Date'Todd Phillips is giving the world a best-friend hug this week. First, as we already reported, the writer/director is set to drop a teaser trailer for "The Hangover Part II." What's more, "Due Date" — his Robert Downey Jr.- and Zach Galifianakis-starring road trip comedy — arrived on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

A few days ago, Phillips called up MTV News from Los Angeles, where he's furiously at work editing the "Hangover" sequel, to chat about the impressive box-office performance of "Due Date," his bromance with Downey and why he'd rather shoot himself than direct an epic green-screen tent pole flick.

Best Movie Quotes

The most memorable movie lines require three things: They must sound like something a real person (or at least the character uttering them) would, you know, actually say; they must be smarter, funnier and snappier than what a real person would actually say (this sounds like it would contradict the first point, but it doesn't); and they must have a great actor to give them a great delivery. It's a delicate balance, and one that takes both skill -- and a tiny bit of luck -- to achieve.

This year was packed with plenty of ear-pleasing, intensely quotable movie quotes, ranging from the highbrow ("The Social Network" and "True Grit") to the not-so-highbrow ("The Other Guys" and "Machete"). Some movies -- here's looking at you, "Social Network" -- were so full of amazing one-liners and witty exchanges that I could have made a top 10 list just drawing from them. But in the interest of fairness, I'll stick to one awesome line per movie. Below, take a look at my picks for the 10 best movie quotes of 2010, then hit the comments to share your own favorites! Due Date and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Little Miss Sunshine

"Due Date" is ready to be delivered into theaters this weekend, and this is one birth we don't want to miss. The comedy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis got us thinking that road tripping across the country to see your child's birth is a pretty good reason to spend that much time in a car with a strange bearded man. In fact, it's probably one of the best reasons behind a road movie we've seen. So we decided to take a look back to figure out whether our other favorite big-screen road trips were for good reasons or purely for bad behavior. Read More...

In this weekend's "Due Date," Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis play a pair of road-tripping companions who don't so much go together like peanut butter and jelly or bread and butter as they do like chocolate chip mint ice cream and pickles.

This fact is on visible display in a new clip for the film, available below for your viewing pleasure. But first a little set-up: For hilarious reasons we won't get into here, Downey's architect/soon-to-be dad Peter Highman and Galifianakis' wannabe actor Ethan Tremblay are forced to road-trip from Atlanta to Los Angeles, Peter in time for the birth of his first child and Ethan for a meeting with an agent he hopes can land him a role on a certain hit TV show. As they get to know each other over a meal at Waffle House, certain things come to light. For one, they probably don't want to drink what Ethan's carrying around in that coffee can of his.

Let's be honest for a moment here, folks: Beyond the fact that "Due Date" comes from "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips and leading men Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis, there really isn't anything else you need to know about the project to determine whether or not it's your cup of tea.

That's not to say that there isn't fun to be had on the "Due Date" front -- there is. Lots of fun, it turns out, as MTV's very own Josh Horowitz discovered at the movie's red carpet premiere in New York City earlier this week. As you're about to learn, the trio of Downey, Galifianakis and Phillips is not only a mighty force, but a hilariously awkward one as well.

You can revel in some of the interview's most bizarre moments in the clip above, and after the jump, we've got a breakdown of all the awkwardness that ensues when you toss RDJ, Zach G. and Phillips into the same room together. Read More...

Apparently, Zach Galifianakis would rather talk about Debbie Gibson than Mel Gibson.

When Galifianakis stopped by "Today" this morning to promote his upcoming film "Due Date" (out November 5), he was asked for his thoughts on the controversy surrounding his other Todd Phillips-directed comedy "The Hangover 2." Specifically, what the heck happened with the whole Mel Gibson cameo?

"I do not consult on the movies that I'm in," he said. "I just show up and I say my lines, usually terribly, and I do consult on dialogue. But as far as hiring and firing of actors, I have no insight into that world whatsoever." Read More...

Robert Downey Jr.With "Iron Man 3" officially on the calendar, superhero fans everywhere can take solace in the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the scene as Tony Stark at least two more times in the relatively near future (the other time being for 2012's "Avengers").

Downey is all but locked for the film — at the very least, we can't imagine anyone else wearing the red-and-gold suit — but he has a long road to go down before "Iron Man 3" hits theaters. That's not a complaint, of course, as every RDJ-starring movie standing between now and Ol' Shellhead's return sounds like a winner in the making.

After the jump, we've got the rundown on the projects facing Downey before "Iron Man 3" arrives on the scene! Read More...

Many of the characters Zach Galifianakis is best known for are works entirely of fiction, and are used solely for comedic effect. Yet with "The Hangover" and "Due Date" director Todd Phillips in talks to create a film documenting the life of John Belushi, there seems to be a high likelihood that Galifianakis could be the man to play the debaucherous comedian. So when MTV's Josh Horowitz caught up with Phillips' frequent collaborator, he couldn't resist asking Galifianakis if he and Phillips had been in a discussion about the film.

"We spoke about it a while back, but not recently," Galifianakis answered after some hesitation. Read More...

Those of you who are upset that the sequel to "The Hangover" isn't coming out this year can blame "Due Date." Or not, since it might be kinda good. The new trailer arrived online today, looking a whole lot like "Trains, Planes and Automobiles" for a new generation. And there's nothing wrong with that. Todd Phillips is a talented filmmaker and his stars -- Zach Galifianakis, Robert Downey Jr. -- form the backbone of a strong cast that also includes Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx and Alan Arkin. Hit play and enjoy.

"The Hangover" director Todd Phillips has another movie coming out very soon. "Due Date" stars Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis as a mismatched pair of road trippers. Along the way they meet up with a pot dealer, played by Juliette Lewis. In the video below, Lewis describes her cameo and speaks a little to the difficulty of working on the set with someone like Galifianakis.
