Gary Oldman

Gary Oldman's Oscar nomination has been a long time coming, so excuse the Englishman for getting a little cast crazy in the post-ceremony celebration.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oldman is entering final negotiations to play the villain of "Motor City," a movie about "a small-time hood who is framed and sent to prison, only to exact revenge years later to get back the woman he loves." Directed by Albert Hughes, who previously helmed "The Book of Eli" and "From Hell," it will look to start shooting in April.

"The Devil's Double" is an impressive feat on a lot of levels, but there's no doubt that it's the work of actor Dominic Cooper as two wildly different roles — the psychotic son of Saddam Hussein, Uday, and his reluctant body double, Latif Yahia — that absolutely sells the movie. Even though the acting effort was a fantastic success on Cooper's part, there were some initial doubts about how the "Devil's Double" production team would be able to pull it off.

"Even as I was writing this, I was thinking, 'I don't know how the f--- we're going to do this,'" confesses writer Michael Thomas in this exclusive clip from the "Devil's Double" DVD, in stores on Tuesday (November 22). "How are you going to get a performance out of one guy, then another performance out of the same guy at the same time, when they're in practically every single scene?"

Dominic Cooper might be getting a lot of buzz for his roles as Howard Stark in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and as Henry Sturgess in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," but with "The Devil's Double" hitting theaters this weekend, there are another two character we should be spending our time talking about: Latif Yahia and Uday Hussein.

MTV News caught up with Cooper at the Sundance Film Festival to talk about the movie in which the "An Education" star plays both the insane son of Sadam Hussein and the man forced to be his body double. Unsurprisingly, it was a bit of an interesting experience for Cooper to shoot.

"[Uday is] so extreme and having that flexibility and deliberation to just go as crazy and berserk as I liked was exhilarating but it was also very technical the way in which we had to film it," Cooper said. "We would film things and the camera had to be in a memory lock and reshoot the scene exactly as we'd done it for me to be able to step in as the other character and reshoot it so more often than not I'd be acting opposite no one."

So far, 2011 hasn't been a huge year at the box-office, but it's certainly been a big one for movie trailers. From the continually surprising "X-Men: First Class" to the deeply moving "Super 8," we've seen a lot of excellent trailers so far this year — but my very favorite of them all belongs to "The Devil's Double."

Dominic Cooper stars in the Lee Tamahori-directed gangster thriller as Uday Hussein, the self-serving and sadistic son of Saddam, and Latif Yahia, his reluctant body double. The just-released trailer for the film boasts an undeniable presence, filled with pulse-pounding music, flashy editing and one hell of a performance from Cooper. If you haven't seen it yet, you can check it out past the jump.

I had the chance to chat with Dominic as part of MTV's Summer Movie Preview week, and he told me that as much as he tried, he was never able to empathize with the sadistic Uday during the making of "Devil's Double."

The search for Jason Bourne's successor is narrowing down.

Universal and director Tony Gilroy are on the hunt for their leading man in "The Bourne Legacy," a character that is not Jason Bourne but exists in his same world of covert operations and espionage. An initial short-list of actors made the rounds a few weeks ago, and now, the field of contenders has shortened significantly.

Find out who's about to test for the lead role in "The Bourne Legacy" past the jump!

Dominic CooperSo much for Joaquin Phoenix's days as a vampire slayer-training vampire. Although the "Walk the Line" and "I'm Still Here" actor was previously mentioned as a probable front runner for the pivotal role of Henry Sturgess in Timur Bekmambetov's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," it now appears that the role has gone elsewhere.

The Hollywood Reporter states that instead of casting name actors like Phoenix, Bekmambetov has opted to go the route of lesser-known stars. To that end, "Mamma Mia!" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" actor Dominic Cooper has won the role of Sturgess, Abraham Lincoln's vampire mentor. He'll star opposite Benjamin Walker, who staked out the coveted role of the 16th President of the United States just last month.

Dominic Cooper“Mamma Mia!” star Dominic Cooper has had a pretty good run as of late. His ABBA-inspired musical raked in $140+ million at the box office, he’s rumored to be dating gorgeous co-star Amanda Seyfried and—when we caught up with the British actor on the Oscar red carpet—he was getting ready to sing live in front of countless Hollywood A-listers and millions of regular folks watching on TVs across the globe.

What we really wanted to know from Cooper was if that good run will soon include a “Mamma Mia!” sequel, as has been rumored. “We’re in negotiations,” he said, before waving off that idea. “No, I have no idea. I keep hearing rumors.” Read More...

Could Keira Knightley's love interest in "The Duchess," Dominic Cooper, be a steampunker?

When we caught up with the actor at the opening night of "Equus", he didn't want to talk Harry Potter, as did a lot of the celebs who came to see Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway. Nope -- for Cooper, the fantasy series he's most into is "His Dark Materials," the Philip Pullman trilogy from which the movie "The Golden Compass" and inspiration from steampunk came. Cooper had played the part of Will during the Royal National Theatre adaptation, and he hopes to land a part in one of the proposed sequels.

"I tried to get Keira," who's read all the Harry Potter books, "into the Philip Pullman ones, but she wasn't having any of it," Cooper said. "No luck. I think you're either a fan of one or the other, is how it works. But why can't you be both in life?" Read More...

'Mamma Mia'Very quietly, it has sung and danced its way to becoming one of the biggest hits of the summer. The theater nearby me is playing a sing-along-version with subtitled songs on the screen; my wife and mother-in-law bonded when they went to see it together. So, why aren’t we hearing anything about a “Mamma Mia!” sequel?

“Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be happening,” star Dominic Cooper revealed to us recently when we asked him for the news. “But I'm desperate for a role.”

After the flick’s smash success, Cooper insisted that he and many of his co-stars would love to see the high-energy film become a franchise. And, at least in his own mind, plotlines are brewing. Read More...
