Danny DeVitoLast week I broke out a fun little news nugget from my conversation with Danny DeVito about his interest in doing a "Throw Momma From The Train" sequel. Today I bring you the rest of our chat all in the service of promoting the new season of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (this show is well worth your attention, it premieres Thursday night on FX and it's first two amazing seasons have just been released on DVD).

DeVito is just as you'd expect him to be: candid, funny, and more than a bit naughty. We talked about everything from his dirty new viral video to why Tim Burton should have cast him in "Sweeney Todd."

MTV: Congrats on the third season of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," perhaps the most demented, dirty, and depraved show on TV.

Danny DeVito: [He laughs.] I've never had such good fortune. It's beautiful to be involved with guys like this. They're really energetic and fun. We've opened up the envelope and maybe tossed it out the window. It's a joy to go to work everyday. Read More...

Dakota FanningIf you thought Johnny Depp was the world's unlikeliest buccaneer, just wait'll you get a load of Dakota Fanning in "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle," enthused director Danny DeVito.

The movie, an adaptation of the book by author Edward Irving Wortis (better known by his pen name Avi), centers on the adventures of a 19th Century 13-year-old girl, who must forswear her ladylike upbringing when confronted by intrigue and danger on the high seas.

"[Dakota] is a very proper girl who is thrust into a situation where she has to take this ship and there's a mutinous crew on board -- all sorts of intricate loyalties, and storms, and gunfights," DeVito excitedly revealed about the set-up for the upcoming flick, for which he is currently "working on storyboards," he said. "It's really cool stuff." Read More...

Danny DeVito in 'Throw Momma from the Train'I love "Throw Momma From the Train." So dark. So funny. I need very little encouragement to quote the whole thing for you. No seriously, don't tempt me. "He's trying to kill me! I asked for the salted nuts. He brought me the unsalted nuts. The unsalted nuts make me choke!" Shall I go on?

It's been 20 years since Danny DeVito's directing debut and so, when I got a chance to talk to the man himself a couple days ago, I couldn't resist asking if he's ever thought about a sequel. Guess what? He's game! DeVito said, "I actually haunt Billy [Crystal] all the time. I always call him and say we should do a sequel. I called Billy at 7AM one morning. I must have woken him up and I was like, 'I have this idea.' He was like, 'Are you done?' He went back to sleep."

Of course Anne Ramsey has sadly passed on, but I for one believe there are plenty of possibilities left for Owen and Larry. DeVito seems to agree and thinks perhaps the time is right. He told me, "I love that picture. We should be doing [a sequel]. This year we're doing a special DVD for it and then we're going to try to get someone to play it in theaters for the anniversary, and then we'll see."
