Matthew McConaughey And Matt Bomer Become Strippers For 'Magic Mike'

Matt BomerMatthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer are the latest two actors to join the stripper flick "Magic Mike."

In addition to those two Hollywood beefcakes, the movie also stars Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer. "Magic Mike" is the semi-true story of Channing's time spent as an exotic dancer in Florida. Hollywood Crush has the full scoop on the casting, including McConaughey playing a retired stripper who owns the salon the boys work at and Bomer being a working boy in the group. The flick is being slated for a 2012 release date.

'Eclipse' Happenings Leave The Volturi Looking Very Serious In This New Still

A gathering of "Eclipse" stars will be appearing on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" this afternoon. Namely, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning. The next "Twilight" movie hits theaters on June 30, and fans are understandably excited. To promote the appearance, Oprah's official website released an all-new image from the movie, which you can see below. Those Volturi vampires are looking very serious. And pissed. Kristen Stewart And Dakota Fanning Are Fans Of Gus Van Sant For 'Breaking Dawn'

FROM MTV.COM: With three big names — Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola and Bill Condon — being floated as potential candidates to direct "Breaking Dawn," it seems that, along with Robert Pattinson, both Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have strong feelings about Van Sant.

"Oh my god! He just makes stunning movies. I just love his work," Stewart gushed at the red carpet for her new flick, "The Runaways," on Wednesday in New York. "I don't know exactly what he would bring to the film but he's [great]."

'Breaking Dawn' Directors: Weighing The Possibilities

FROM MTV.COM: Though an official announcement that "Breaking Dawn" is coming to the big screen — and Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner along with it — has not yet been made, word has already broken that three Oscar-nominated directors have been approached for the job: Sofia Coppola ("Lost in Translation"), Gus Van Sant ("Milk") and Bill Condon ("Dreamgirls").

While Pattinson has already cast his vote for Van Sant, the director that seemed to most excite Stewart and co-star Dakota Fanning when we spoke with them Tuesday is Coppola. So which director would be the best fit for "Breaking Dawn"? Let's take a look.

'The Runaways' Get Their Biopic, So How About These Other Bands?

This Friday, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning will hit the big screen as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in a dramatized telling of classic girl-rock band, The Runaways. I haven't had the opportunity to see it yet, but I hear that's it pretty good, and mostly Fanning's show. It's opening in limited release this weekend so not everyone will be able to catch it, but I intend to.

The Runaways certainly aren't the first band to get a biopic, nor will they be the last. So I'd like to now submit a few others for Hollywood's approval, bands and/or musicians with fascinating stories that could and should be done great justice with a big screen telling. Read More...

'The Runaways' Vs. The Runaways: Comparing Cherry Bombs

Yesterday, MTV's Hollywood Crush ran an exclusive music video/trailer for the upcoming Kristen Stewart/Dakota Fanning-starring biopic about The Runaways, the all-girl 1970s rock group known for (among other things) their song "Cherry Bomb." The video, embedded below, is filled with clips from the movie, but the entire thing is set to the music of "Cherry Bomb" as performed by Stewart, Fanning et al.

Hit the jump for a video of the actual band performing the song. You'll notice that the costume designer for the movie really nailed it. The fictional Runaways do a solid job of filling in for the real ones in general. The only big difference I can see? Fanning's voice registers at a much higher pitch than the real-life Cherie Currie's does. 'The Runaways' Elicits Reactions From The Original Band Members

FROM MTV.COM: The Sundance Film Festival is all about reunions, as casts and crews who worked on films months or even years before meet up in the Rocky Mountains to promote their projects and hit some afterparties. Sunday night at the Eccles Theatre was the setting for one of the festival's more curious reunions, when the members of the pioneering all-teen-girl '70s rock band the Runaways walked the red carpet with the stars portraying them in a big screen biopic "The Runaways," which tells the story of the band's rise and fall.

So there was Runaways guitarist/solo star Joan Jett next to her onscreen counterpart, Kristen Stewart, and singer Cherie Currie walking alongside her young cinematic doppelganger, Dakota Fanning (both of whom star in the "Twilight" saga). Asked to give their reactions the first time they saw the teen actors in costume as the Runaways, Jett and Currie's eyes lit up.

Kristen Stewart Worried That She Would 'Sound Stupid' During Her Singing Parts In 'The Runaways'

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: We average American audiences still have another two months to wait until "The Runaways" hits theaters, but those lucky enough to have attended Sundance this past week already had their first look during the film's premiere. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning chatted with MTV about how they felt going into the film.

"I'm so glad that we can let other people know [about the story]. I had never even heard of the story, and a lot of young people hadn't," Kristen said about how she was happy she joined the film.

As for whether they found any aspect of the film particularly daunting, Dakota seemed to have taken it all in stride. "I wasn't dreading anything, actually. I was just really excited to actually do it. It's one of those things, like, you don't know how it's going to feel until you're actually there. And for me, 'Cherry Bomb' was really what kind of summed the experience up for me," Dakota said.

Kristen Stewart And Dakota Fanning Join Real Runaway Joan Jett On Stage At Sundance

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Have Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning abandoned their movie careers for rock-star living? Well, probably not but on Saturday night, the stars of "The Runways" joined Joan Jett onstage at a Sundance Film Festival party.

According to People, when Joan Jett & The Blackhearts hit the stage at Harry O's, where the band was there to party alongside the actresses and director Floria Sigismondi, who helmed the film about Joan's '70s band. Joan, dressed in one-piece sequined leotard and sneakers, invited Kristen (who plays Joan) and Dakota (who plays Runaways bandmate Cherie Currie) to join her.

Sundance Review: Kristen Stewart And Dakota Fanning's 'Runaways'

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart in 'The Runaways'Sex, drugs, rock n' roll and the girls from "Twilight"?!? Don't have too big a laugh though because Kristen Stewart and most especially Dakota Fanning rock the house with the best of them in "The Runaways," an electrifying if formulaic account of the brief rise and fall of the titular band.

Forget the executive producer credit for Joan Jett, the true telling credit for the film is where director Floria Sigismondi found her source material--lead singer Cherie Currie's memoir.

Indeed, "The Runaways" is owned and just about swallowed up by Fanning's riveting portrayal of the singer (not too dissimilar from the way Currie overwhelmed the group). First glimpsed as a teen literally transforming into a woman, this is the performance that seems sure to launch Fanning into a new thrilling phase of her career.
