UpThe Venice Film Festival may have lost all of its credibility now that the words “'My Bloody Valentine 3-D' is competing at Venice” can be uttered truthfully. When it was first announced a few weeks ago that the fest would feature a new 3-D award starting this year, I thought that perhaps world cinema was getting on board with the format. Apparently it’s not quite so -- at least not yet -- as today we learn that all nine films competing for the prize are from the U.S.

And yes, my joke about Venice trying to woo the Jonas Brothers to the fest may indeed be true. “Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Experience” is among the crop competing for the Persol 3-D Award, which also includes “Up,” “Monsters vs. Aliens,” “Battle for Terra,” “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” “Coraline,” the seemingly too-old “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D,” and yes, “My Bloody Valentine 3-D.” Rounding out the nine is Joe Dante’s “The Hole,” which also makes its world premiere at the film festival. FROM SPLASH PAGE: The February 6 release of "Coraline," Henry Selick's 3-D, stop-motion adaptation of a story by award-winning comic book author and novelist Neil Gaiman, is almost upon us -- and that means bunches and bunches of clips, interviews and "Coraline"-related content are hitting the 'Net. Today, we have your first look at another clip from the film, featuring a scene in which Coraline begins to see -- with her own eyes -- the true nature of the "perfect" world she discovered.

For more on "Coraline," including another exclusive clip and interviews with the cast and crew, head over to SplashPage.MTV.com or our "Coraline" page on MTV.com.

When Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning) finds a door to another world -- a better version of her own, in fact -- she learns that a world where everything is the way she wants it isn't always preferable, and that her "Other Mother" (voiced by Terry Hatcher) might not have Coraline's best interests in mind. Based on the Neil Gaiman story, watch an exclusive clip from the film below. When you're done, check out everything we have on "Coraline," in theaters February 6.

"Coraline" hits theaters February 6, but just in case you want to catch up with the much-anticipated adaptation, read on for a roundup of all things "Coraline" on SplashPage.MTV.com.
