George LucasThe animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" opens this week (check out our interview with George Lucas here), giving audiences another opportunity to pal around with old friends like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and R2-D2. But while a lot of the action and characters will be familiar to fans of the series, a majority of the voices won't. No Hayden Christensen or Ewan McGregor. No Natalie Portman or Frank Oz. In fact, the only actors returning to voice their characters are Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Christopher Lee (Count Dooku), and Anthony Daniels (C-3P0).

So why aren’t a lot of the actors who made the roles famous returning?

It's a little weird there's a new "Star Wars" film coming out this summer, isn't it? I mean thus far "The Clone Wars" has fallen even a bit under my jedi-tuned radar. But now the hype machine is starting to rev up with only a few weeks to go before we see Anakin and Obi-Wan back in action in the war that's sounded cool ever since Alec Guiness casually mentioned it 31 years ago. Here's an exclusive look at Anakin and a new friend heading into battle in "The Clone Wars."

You can just see where poor Hayden Christensen's mind goes when I bring up "Star Wars" below. I suppose when you're a teenager eager for a big break the thought of talking about "Star Wars" the rest of your life sounds just fine. But now the reality must be hitting him as he is in fact asked EVERY SINGLE DAY about "Star Wars by annoying people like me.

As for what he actually says in response to my question about how he feels about the "Clone Wars" movie set for release in August without his voice, well he seems a little confused. As you can see from the video he says, "I found out about it through Sam Jackson who at one point I think was trying to get involved but I don't think George used anyone from the original films."

Au contraire, Mr. Christensen. Sam Jackson is indeed voicing Mace Windu in the flick. Ah well, watch for yourself and decide if Hayden's confused, in denial, or doesn't care a lick.
