The good news is that Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan shook hands recently on a deal that will reunite them for another movie. The better news is that it won't be a "Rush Hour" film.
"Nowadays, you need a middleman to push things; in the old days, we didn't need a push from a middleman," Chan told me over the weekend, comparing the difficulties in getting together with a star like Jet Li (whom he'll do battle with in "The Forbidden Kingdom" on April 18) and synching schedules with Tucker.
"It's like two days ago when Chris Tucker called me," the martial arts legend said Saturday. "We sat down and decided we want to do another movie. Not a 'Rush Hour' -- something new." Read more...
What do you do when your funniest partner-in-crime also just happens to be the Haley's Comet of actors, and people keep asking whether you'll ever reunite for a true "Friday" sequel? According to Ice Cube, you wait.
"I think if [Chris Tucker] don't come back, we shouldn't do another one," Cube revealed to us this week, breaking news about the future of his signature series. "And if he comes back? We should." Read more...
If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the evening. But instead I'll provide you with the links of the day (The God of Thunder has the hammer thing taken care of, we think). Read about that and more, including "Star Wars" and "Narnia," below.
- Matthew Vaughn lays down the hammer on "Thor." (Empire)
- The Force is strong with this one: George Lucas on the "Star Wars" TV Shows. (TV Guide)
- The Ratner Pack: Brett Ratner to direct "Mr. S: My Life With Frank Sinatra." Chris Tucker eyeing role of George Jacobs, the crooner's valet. (Variety)
- A "Voyage" to forever: Third "Chronicles of Narnia" film gets pushed back a full year. (JoBlo)
- Isla Fisher to star in "Confessions of a Shopaholic." (Hollywood Reporter)
It's Friday, Chris Tucker ain't got no job (at least nothing on his upcoming schedule), and ain't got nothing to do (now that publicity has wrapped for "Rush Hour 3"). Can Ice Cube convince him to return to the hood for a follow-up to their 1995 "smoking" hot hit?
On a recent visit to the set of his new flick, "First Sunday," the Frozen One revealed that he would love for Tucker to return for a fourth "Friday." For his part, Tucker told MTV News that he's open to the prospect.
"I would love to, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it," he said. "But come with a great script and I'll consider it. We'll see." Read more...
At least, that's how "Rush Hour" star Chris Tucker describes it, as Tucker and Jackie Chan belt out an exclusive duet for the MTV cameras. How'd it all go down? Watch the video clip below and find out.
Just because the show was over, that didn't mean the stars were going home. The proverbial after-parties took center stage in Hollywood last night, post-MTV Movie Awards. We hit the clubs and report back with our exclusive observations.
A couple of the "Fantastic Four" cast -- we'll call them the Terrific Two -- Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd partied at the official MTV function held at Universal Studios. Porno King Ron Jeremy and "Hairspray" star Amanda Bynes were also in attendance. Over at Sugar, they sure were shady at the door to Rihanna's party. The doormen irritated Jay-Z when he was trying to make his entrance and even made that sexy Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls wait several minutes to enter.
Inside, the woman of the night -- Rihanna -- shunned the VIP section in favor of showing off her drop-dead, any-guy-would-want-to-marry-me-now-knockout red dress. On the dance floor, she danced to her own music, Sean Paul and Beyonce. Meanwhile, another cutie was in the building: "Entourage" member Lauren London. Funnyman Chris Tucker cooled out with Giant Magazine Editor-in-Chief Smokey Fontaine (Giant sponsored the party in celebration of Rihanna being their current covergirl) and another jokester, Guy Torre, was seen shaking hands and rubbing shoulders as well.

For a lucky few, the MTV Movie Awards are a chance to take home a fabled golden popcorn. For others, it's just a chance to meet other famous people and get your picture taken with them. Appropriately enough, our cameras caught a lot of the latter: below, see "Rush Hour 3” star Chris Tucker hanging with the legendary Sam Jackson, "The Office" star John Krazinski posing with "Fantastic 4” star Chris Evans, fellow "F4” castmember Ioan Gruffudd staying cool with "Hairspray" lead Zac Efron and Paris Hilton going from walking-to-limo to model pose in a matter of seconds.
