Percy JacksonCalling all "Percy Jackson" fans: if you were worried that his big screen adventures would end with "The Lightning Thief," start getting excited -- it looks like our hero is swimming towards a sea of monsters very soon.

The Los Angeles Times has learned that Fox 2000 is planning a follow-up to "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief." The first film was a modest hit that did a bit better overseas than it did in the States, but the Times is saying Fox is banking on the book series' massive fanbase in creating the next adaptation.

According to the report, the plan is to get production underway by the summer, with leading cast members like Logan Lerman returning to the series. That being said, the film is in very early stages and doesn't even have a director attached (Chris Columbus isn't expected to return), but the film could be a good way to fill the void post-"Harry Potter" and "Twilight."

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceNo need to fear, all you fans of "Harry Potter" in 3D out there. Despite Warner Bros.'s announcement earlier this week that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" would not be released in 3-D as initially planned because the post-production work could not be completed in time for its November 19 release, Variety reports that Warner Bros. is in the process of converting all four of director David Yates' "Harry Potter" titles into 3-D for Blu-Ray.

Right now, work has already begun on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," with "Order of the Phoenix" to be the next in line. The conversion is being done by Prime Focus, who received a lot of flack for their shoddy last-minute conversion of "Clash of the Titans," but hopefully they have learned their lesson since. Variety reports that the 3D work is "proceeding methodically." Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Knowing that Chris Columbus directed the first two Harry Potter films, you may find his new movie — "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," to give it its full, galumphing title — to be jarringly familiar. It concerns three kids — one stalwart boy, one feisty girl, one comical sidekick — who have special powers and are sent to a special place (Camp Half-Blood!) for training under the mentorship of a wise older protector; there's a secretly fiendish teacher and also a quest on which our heroes are guided by a magical map. Too bad there's no Voldemort figure, although we do get Steve Coogan in fiery demon drag — which unfortunately is nowhere near the same thing.

Like the book on which it's based — the first in Rick Riordan's best-selling series of young-adult novels — the movie is heavily infested with the gods of ancient Greek mythology, which may prove confusing to those who've forgotten their Olympian arcana. The story begins with two of the top gods, Zeus (Sean Bean) and Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), meeting on the top deck of the Empire State Building. Zeus is angry that someone has stolen his trademark lightning bolt, and he suspects it was Poseidon's half-human son, Perseus, who lives down below in New York with his all-human mother, Sally (Catherine Keener). Poseidon's been out of touch, but says he'll see what he can do.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceIt’s been eight years since the first "Harry Potter" film hit the big screen, and in that time the franchise has gone through half as many directors. With Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell and now David Yates putting their skills to work on bringing J.K. Rowling's works to life, the various novels have been interpreted in a variety of ways.

“Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Chamber of Secrets” director Chris Columbus had the tough job of being the first to adapt the biggest children’s novel series of all time. He was further challenged with having to commit those books to film before Harry Potter’s story had even been finished; only the first four novels had been released when “Sorcerer’s Stone” and “Chamber of Secrets” hit theaters. Uma ThurmanChris Columbus may have left the "Harry Potter" series far behind, but he's clearly still hungry for a sprawling fantasy franchise. He's set to start filming "Percy Jackson", a big screen adaptation of Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series, and while he's lined up Logan Lerman to play the title role, he needs some Olympians.

The chance to play a god has attracted some appealing names, because Variety , reports that Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, and Sean Bean have joined the cast as Greek gods. Read More...

'Ripleys Believe It Or Not!"Ripley's Believe It or Not" is a gruesome childhood staple -- chances are you've visited one of the chain museums, or caught one of its television incarnations sometime in your past.

So it's no wonder that Hollywood has wanted to put a movie about its origins on the big screen. Paramount has been trying to get a biopic about its founder, Robert Ripley, for years with no success. Names like Michel Gondry were floated around, and it was once set to be directed by Tim Burton, with Jim Carrey attached to star. But rumors of budget problems and script rewrites dogged the project, and Burton left in favor of making more movies with Johnny Depp (who can blame him?) Read More...
